Hi All. If you’re in the market for a compact router kit that’s loaded with features, you owe it to yourself to check out DeWalt's new DWP611PK. This compact router kit easily exceeded my expectations for a compact router kit of this size and price range, read on and find out why. The Motor: The 7amp, 1 1/4HP soft-start variable speed motor delivers plenty of power for a myriad of routing tasks and the full-time electronic feedback maintains motor speed throughout ever...

Where Purchased: LowesPurchase Price: $149.00 Let me start off by saying that this is the first biscuit joiner that I’ve owned so I can’t compare it to other models but I will give you my honest take on the model. Specs:It has selectable depth settings for #0, #10, #20 and “M”. The M setting is for future use, what ever that means but at the M setting, you get the full depth of cut. The height is very easy to set by loosening a thumb screw and turning a knob ...

Heavy, Heavy Duty, and a Very Good Performer

Heavy, Heavy Duty, and a Very Good Performer

After getting a Jointer, I realized very quickly that I should have gotten a planer FIRST. I was able to flatten a board, and joint an edge, but that is something that I can do fairly easily with hand planes. thicknessing that board on the other hand is sometimes a bit more challenging to do by hand – especially when you have multiple boards to mill. Price I have limited funds, and so visit craigslist often for tools. I was actually not expecting to find the Dewalt 735 in my budge...

Dewalt DC390 6 1/2" Circular Saw w/ 18v XRP battery

Dewalt DC390 6 1/2" Circular Saw w/ 18v XRP battery

I don’t recall how much I paid for this saw as I bought it on a Black Friday sale from Lowe’s last year, and it’s sat over the winter. I finally got to drag it out to trim some 3/4” OSB for my workshop remodel, and wow. I was concerned about how much pressure I’d have to use to get through the material – but I was halfway done with the cut before I realized I was exerting almost no pressure at all. It’s been zipping through the cuts like a sports c...

Great & Quiet Portable Belt Drive Compressor

Great & Quiet Portable Belt Drive Compressor

1397 days ago by Cato | 9 comments »

When I discovered that my loud old direct drive unit would not supply enough air to run my new framing nailer I started searching for a portable belt drive replacement with a 4 or higher CFM @ 90 PSI, which is supposed to be adequate for framers. I wanted a belt drive because I knew they were quieter, and I couldn’t stand the noise of my old one. I searched on the web and found this compressor to be highly rated by contractors, and it was supposed to be very quiet with plenty of pow...

Planer..the only one I will ever own

Planer..the only one I will ever own

This planer is awesome. It is pricey, but I personally feel you get good value for it. I have seen it for $599 – $699. I paid $599. So shop around. This sucker is a beast. I mean heavy. For my shop it sits on a rolling cart that is much larger than the planer. I saw recently a guy who built a portable stand for his and it was no much wider than the planer itself. I cringed at the thought of it catching on a wood chip and falling over. I assure you once it starts falling there is n...

Hi All, ‘Picked up this 734 dewalt last week at Lowes. They had just dropped the price down to $399. I know you can get it for less at other stores on line but the shippng is outrageous so…. I have used other people’s planers….and this 734 is the best yet. It is a three knife system and gives a very smooth surface but the best feature is it’s 4 post hold down on the blades. The knife also has a a lock.. I plane short boards due to the size of my shop….w...

Dewalt Delivers

Greetings, I wanted to share a review of the Dewalt DW745 portable table saw. I bought this table saw a few months ago to do a hardwood floor install and have been quite impressed with its accuracy and power. I have owned several portable table saw which have been used Makitas. The Makitas are great for power and durability, but just didn’t have what I wanted in safety features and precision. I was looking for something that would allow me to do better quality wood working without the ...

Dewalt 788 Scroll Saw

Dewalt 788 Scroll Saw

566 days ago by moonls | 20 comments »

I’d been using my Craftsman 16” scroll saw off and on since 2003, and recently, with a renewed interest in scroll work, I started trying to improve my skill. I was becoming frustrated with keeping the very small pinless blades secured in the holders and maintaining proper tension. The other big problem was vibration. Having researched the different saws on the market, it became apparent that the Dewalt was the best rated of the bunch in my price range. I ordered one on-line ...
