The JessEm Mast-R-Lift Excel II Router Package (The Full Deal) Review

The JessEm Mast-R-Lift Excel II Router Package (The Full Deal) Review

04-19-2016 03:56 AM by Jay39 | 5 comments »

Before I begin, I already had a Bosch 3 HP 1617 Router and a small benchtop Bosch router cabinet. Changing bits were a chore (usually ending up with cuts on hand when changing), and I did not enjoy the routing experience. In fact, I rarely did it because of the difficulty. Fortunately, I knew that as a wood worker, routing is an important technique that can enhance many projects. Well, this just in! JessEm Mast-R-Lift Excel II Complete Router Table System! System came in 3 mid-size boxes, ...

Now a standard part of my workflow

Now a standard part of my workflow

I have been using the Jessem Clear Cut TS Stock Guides for about two months now on my table saw and I felt it was time for a review. These are similar in concept to their Clear Cut Stock Guides for the router table but they have some unique differences that make them significantly better. First, let’s start with unboxing and installation. The guides are beautifully packaged and come with the guides themselves fully assembled. I have a SawStop PCS with the T-Glide fence onto which you...

Jessem Rout-R-Lift II - Preliminary Review & Purchasing Experience

Jessem Rout-R-Lift II - Preliminary Review & Purchasing Experience

09-03-2015 12:00 AM by Kurt T. Kneller | 3 comments »

Well, my new Jessem Rout-R-Lift II finally was delivered today. This review is preliminary at this time and still need to complete my router table before using it. So, I can only comment on whole experience to date. The 3 star rating at this time is a reflection on the customer service and purchasing experience.I give 4 stars on initial inspection. The Purchasing Experience:I placed the order, through JessemDirect.com on August 4th, and regrettably used PayPal to place the order. I com...

Mast-r-lift with Incra magnalock plates

Mast-r-lift with Incra magnalock plates

This lift is “sorta” branded by Incra but it’s basically the JessEm Mast-R-Lift II with the Incra MagnaLock insert plates. I am assuming this is made and shipped by JessEm. I purchased it through the Incremental Tools web site. In some ways this JessEm/Incra partnership is a tale of two companies (apologies to Mr Dickens). While all the Incra products I have bought have had superb engineering and packaging, the JessEm kind of came up a bit short. I also installed a ne...

Jessem Roller Guide - FIVE Stars

Jessem Roller Guide - FIVE Stars

12-01-2014 09:20 PM by Kopion | 13 comments »

I’ve posted a lengthy review or two, but this one will be comparatively short. I broker out the Jessem Clear-Cust stock guides for the second time this weekend, and I was just amazed at a) how well they work, and b) how well they’re made. As I was working with them, I decided that they belonged in a very elite category of tools that exceed expectations so much that you immediately cannot remember what you did before you had that tool. Off the top of my mind, the best example of...

Router Table Safety Accessory

Router Table Safety Accessory

This is a new product offered by JessEm for the router table and fit a standard 1/4” T slot. The rollers are angled at 5 degrees to steer the material towards the fence. The bearing are have a unique one way roller needle bearing that only allows the rollers to rotate in the direction the material is being fed. Adjustment is quite simple with just a matter of rotating the knurled nob and applying some downward pressure. A 1/4 in hex key can be used to lock them in place if doing lon...

A very accurate safety device. A Must Have!

A very accurate safety device. A Must Have!

The Purpose: So I do most of my woodworking at work because we have a pretty nice shop there. In late September of this year I was routing a 1/2” deep x 2” wide flute into a piece of wood when the workpiece was shot across the room and my left hand was thrown into the router bit. After a trip to the ER and emergency hand surgery with a skin graft, I was very fortunate in that I only lost 3mm of bone and approximately 5mm of total length off of the end of my left thumb (I st...

A few minor annoyances, but otherwise a great dowel jig.

A few minor annoyances, but otherwise a great dowel jig.

01-25-2013 01:24 PM by Marcus | 5 comments »

I just completed my first project using this jig after picking up the master set from JessEm . At the introductory price, it was a very appealing setup compared to what else was on the market. JessEm shipped it out quickly and it arrived at my home safely a few days later. First impressions were that this was a very solidly made jig. Previously, I had been using the small clamp on beadlock jig from Rockler and was expecting something of the same heft. This jig will shock out when you s...

New Dowel Jig

New Dowel Jig

01-07-2013 07:20 PM by trasner | 24 comments »

I have been doing a lot of pocket hole joinery because I usually build shop furniture, jigs, etc. However, I wanted to make some things that did not have visible screw holes. I have a biscuit joiner but do not feel that would get the job done. That leaves dowels or m&t joints. I realize that most authorities say that m&t will provide the strongest joint with dowels a close second. However, for my uses, If the joint fails because over 500lbs of pressure was placed on it, my concern wi...
