CMT 8" Dado Set

CMT 8" Dado Set

2166 days ago by RWR | 17 comments »

I purchased this dado set to help build a free standing router station. Had to make many dado’s and rabbets. I knew my old Sear’s steel set was not up to the task, especially on expensive cabinet grade birch plywood. So after reviewing several sets and finding this set on sale at Amazon it was a no brainer forme. This set gives very flat bottoms and zero chipout on the 3/4” and 1/2” plywood that I was using. It alsohas the 1/16” and 3/32” chippers to co...

CMT 10" 40T Full Kerf Blade - No Joy

CMT 10" 40T Full Kerf Blade - No Joy

The CMT 213.040.10 is a full kerf premium 40 tooth ATB saw blade intended mainly for use on a TS. I really wanted to like this blade…the attention grabbing orange color is so cool, plus it gives a constant warning to keep hands away. This was to be my new daily user for my new Shop Fox cabinet saw, but ultimately I’m disappointed as it underperformed expectations. There are pronounced swirl marks on the edges of every cut that make glue-ups straight from the saw marginally acce...

3D Router Carver System by CMT

3D Router Carver System by CMT

Quite a few years ago I purchased a CMT 3D Router Carver System by CMT.My first project was the front of a cedar chest I built for my oldest son as a wedding gift. It allowed me add a professional looking carving on the front of the chest without screwing it up since I do not know how to carve. I have had this tool for at least 10 years and for a while it went out of production but a couple of years ago they reintroduced it. It is easy to set up and as long as you have a ½” plunge rout...

A Stellar Clean Cutting Blade from CMT

A Stellar Clean Cutting Blade from CMT

After being disappointed with the performance of not one, but two different 40 tooth CMT 213.040.10 general purpose blades within the past year, I was beginning to doubt CMT’s quality commitment, but the CMT Orange 210.080.10 has restored my faith. I’ve tried several other CMT products with excellent results, so I’m not surprised by the stellar showing of their premium 80 tooth Hi-ATB blade. The CMT 210.080.10 is a full kerf 80T Hi-ATB fine cutoff blade with a steep 40° ...

Nice budget blade

Nice budget blade

The Forrest temptation will always be there….. When you tell your wife you need a new blade, she automatically thinks “15 bucks”, little does the boss know you’ll be cleaning out her wallet…you know your’s is empty to begin with, or else she didn’t even need to know. Well I mustered up some Lowes gift cards and a little cash and bought a couple of their CMT ITK plus blades. The CMT website does not mention the ITK Plus blades so I assume the info off ...

Almost gave it one star

Almost gave it one star

I ordered this set back in August when Rockler had a sale goin on. I didn’t get to use it until late September. The first three bowls went good, but on bowl number four the bearing seized up and left a deep burn mark in my bowl. I was furious to say the least. It was Sunday night so I had time to cool off before calling Rockler to complain. The nice lady at Rockler said she would contact CMT and have then send me a new one. When I told her that I needed it to finish bowls for a cr...

CMT 10, 50 Tooth PTFE coating

CMT 10, 50 Tooth PTFE coating

753 days ago by Tennessee | 20 comments »

Bought this to try and breathe a little life in my old Ryobi BT3000 table saw. It worked flawlessly, and the PTFE is by far and away the best coating I have found to date on a blade. The “Luxembourg Cerametal” carbide tips are some of the best I’ve ever cut with, both cross and rip. Fancy name for really sharp fine grained carbide… When I upgraded to my Rigid R4512, I put this blade on right away, and for the first time felt what it was like to have zero resistan...

Great blade

Great blade

It came time in my shop when I realized my old porter cable blade was cutting it (literally at times!) any longer.I was going to buy a frued but I could not resist the urge to try out this CMT.The only complaint I have with this blade is the packaging. The blade is screwed into the case and even when the screw is out you still have to all about break the case to get the blade out. Its NOT easy.Upon putting in the saw I fired it up right away. Call me cliche but this blade SOUNDS great! It wh...
