Rockler Thin Rip Tablesaw Jig

Rockler Thin Rip Tablesaw Jig

I know allot of you have made your own version of a thin strip ripping jig. I fiddled with making one and was in too much of a hurry to get my project going. I looked at this one online and liked the design and it was only $19.99 with free shipping. As usual Rockler shipped it out right away, and it was on my doorstep 4 days after I ordered it. They also accept Paypal now which is really convenient. It comes with simple instructions on the back of the box. The whole device is made out of pheno...

All-in-one cleaning kit makes it simple.

This kit is really convenient. Sure you could gather all the pieces separately, but it’s nice to have them all together. The basin for the saw blades is really nice. You don’t have to worry about finding a shallow cookie sheet that might be used for food (and potentially getting someone mad at you). Just mix one part of the cleaner to 3 parts water and let your blade or router bit soak. After five minutes or so, use the included brush to scrub off the pitch and resin. Voila! Clean...

Great Guide

Great Guide

06-12-2008 05:17 PM by John Gray | 10 comments »

I have the 50” model of this All-In-One Clamp Guide and love it. It’s really nice to use when breaking down a 4’x8’ piece of sheet goods without having to manhandle it up on the table saw. I cut them up right on the tailgate of my pickup before they come into the shop. You don’t have to have the Saw Plate just hold the saw firmly against the guide. When you “set it up” for your circular saw Sharpie the offset between the blade and the saw’s shoe and you’ll not ...

Rockler's Tape Keeps Things Stuck!

Rockler's Tape Keeps Things Stuck!

I don’t know about anyone else, but I find new uses for double-sided tape nearly every time I am in the shop. I have been using Rockler’s Turner’s Two-Way Tape for a couple of months now and have been very impressed. It sticks tenaciously and I haven’t had any two parts I have joined slip when template routing or aligning for installation. I sometimes wonder if I actually need screws and glue with this stuff. 1 inch wide, 25 yards I gave it four stars because som...

Rock solid Rockler tenoning jig

Rock solid Rockler tenoning jig

I’ve used shop made wood and metal tenoning jigs before but this one far exceeded my expectations. The tool is as hefty as they come but glides along the miter slot as if it was on a cushion of air. It’s clamp is strong enough to easily hold three foot 4×4’s for a blacksmith workbench I made recently and it’s various adjustments make it ideal for accurate cuts on cabinet and furniture work. I highly recommend this tool and at around sixty five dollars it is well w...

Rockler Sure-Loc Miter Guage With Fence & Stop

Dead on accurate out of the box if your miter slots are parallel with the saw blade. Easy to assemble and adjust. Price paid: $101.49 ( included shipping ) Would I buy another: No, spend the extra money and get a better quality solution or build you own. I’m going to replace the fence with a shop built. Rockler Link Improvements needed:Option for a fence extension.Flip stop instead of a wood sliding stop.Drop in miter bar style instead of a bar style forcing you to slide...

Rockler Power Air Respirator

Rockler Power Air Respirator

I wanted a respirator that I could wear all by itself. I didn’t want to contend with any head gear. I have used regular dust masks over the years, but after wearing them for awhile, it takes a lot more effort to breath.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~After seeing this one in Rockler I ordered one. It’s surprising how that little built in fan helps in your breathing, & it keeps your face cool. The fan is very quiet, & it runs on 4 AA batte...

Sharpen your mortise chisels

Sharpen your mortise chisels

Rockler and others have this tool to sharpen your mortise chisels. Trust me they don’t come sharpl Lee Vally has just the sharpening cones for $7.95 a better buy than Rockler. It’s a cone with diamond sharpening grits on the edge. The picture doesn’t show but it does come with 2 grit sizes, course and fine. I placed the diamond cone in my drill press and lightly brought it into the inside of the mortise chisel Ligntly do that until you get all edges of the chisel sharp...

Tablesaw Essentials.

Well you could get by without them. $15 a pair from Rockler. What the heck are they? They hold aux. fences and stopblocks to your existing rip fence, for crosscutting and dado operations where the blade would otherwise obliterate your existing fence. Just rip a piece of ply, melamine, or other stable stock, drill two holes for the clamps, and clamp away. The biesemeyer aux. fences with clamps are around $150. The only advantage I see is that their fence is exactly 1” thic...

Accurate to within 1/128"

I took a chance on a $29 digital caliper from Rockler. Having used other high quality caliper and micrometers before, I didn’t think it possible to buy a quality unit for that price. I was wrong, and this unit rocks. It has readouts in decimal inches, decimal mm, and fractional inches. It provides surfaces for inside, outside and depth measurement. I have used it frequently over the last several weeks and I always keep it near by when doing setups.
