Unique idea for workholding

I saw a lot of press about these online as I’m sure that many of you have. I was at Rockler one day picking up some other things and I picked these up also just to check them out. I used them for the first time yesterday and I was really impressed. I was working on a 40” x 8” board so I put a bench cookie in each of the corners. I was able to use a random orbit sander and a belt sander with no problems at all. I’ll admit that I was nervous when I first set the belt ...

Rockler Coping Sled

Rockler Coping Sled

205 days ago by Albe | 6 comments »

I have never wrote a tool review but after using Rockler’s Coping Sled and not seeing any other reviews I figured I’d try my luck. I actually bought the copping sled several years ago when I got frustrated when using a rail and stile bit set to do the profile on the end grain. No matter how hard I tried bit seemed to grab and it threw it off track. I again realized how much of a lifesaver it is when using it again doing the same operation. Although the copping sled seems a little steep ...

Diamond hones sharpen your router bits and chisels

Diamond hones sharpen your router bits and chisels

I really like these little diamond hones for sharpening carbide router bits. Just a few strokes on the back, flat edge of your bits will restore a sharp edge. Comes with three grits. This can save you money and avoid throwing away dull bits, or worse yet ruining expensive lumber.Worth a try.

rockler bench cookies

rockler bench cookies

Yo whats up everybody I wanted to do a review on the rockler bench cookies. Now I got some of these about 4 weeks ago and they work pretty good. I have used them when I was sanding and the one thing I realized is that anything that is smaller than 8 in long and 7 in wide its a lot harder to control. You can get 4 bench cookies for $12 at rockler.com

Smooth Square, Great Price

Smooth Square, Great Price

not much to say. good square, and can be had for a bargain price. I was using Empire combo squares (12” and 6”) since they were cheap (less than $10 each) at HD. I found them to be as precise as the next square, but the locking and the sliding of the ruler left a lot to be desired. I eventually replaced them both with Starrett equivalent which I found to be as precise, but made of heavier materials, and with higher precision in the machining which means smoother sliding action,...

Many times more useful than I expected. Weight your uses to figure out if a-la-carte works better

Many times more useful than I expected. Weight your uses to figure out if a-la-carte works better

I purchased this Rockler Bench Cookie set as an impulse buy about a year ago. This purchase has proven to be my best impulse buy to date. Everyone in my family loves using the bench cookies, including the wifey and my 2 year old daughter who keeps trying to steal them, so she can do curls. I’m going to split my review into the 4 components. What I will say, is that while the set is awesome, if you find you only want the cookies and/or the cones (like me), you may be better off buying...

Stumpy Nubs Entertaining Review: Rockler Bench Cookies & Accessories P1

We are producing a new video series which takes the concept of tool reviews and adds a bit of “info-tainment”. No, this isn’t a song and dance kind of thing, it’s a serious tool review, done in a not so serious way. I love to watch tool reviews, but I rarely watch a review just for the sake of watching. I hope this new format changes all of that! You may already own the tools, you may not care about them. But the videos themselves are worth watching! Anywho- The fol...

Handy Self-Adhesive Discs - Discontinued Item

Handy Self-Adhesive Discs - Discontinued Item

As a “back-in-the-day” woodworker, I was always annoyed with carpet tape. Too thick, too much stick, and too much residue. But, that is what we had. Turners’ tape? Don’t know much about it. But, on a whim, I tossed Rockler's Double-Sided Self-Adhesive Discs into the My Cart with an order. Ho-hum, they arrived, but now, Wow. I have been on a jig building kick lately. I can say the little sticky stinkers have ridden over, under, around, and through almost eve...

2 Great Glue Brushes - Rockler and Betty Crocker

2 Great Glue Brushes - Rockler and Betty Crocker

314 days ago by Denco | 8 comments »

I bought a Rockler glue brush and it works great, just as advertised. When the glue dries, you can peel it off. Easy to clean, spreads well. However….I was in the dollar store one day and they had Betty Crocker basting brushes….for a buck each. My curiosity got the best of me (you know where I’m going with this). I decided to do a comparison….head to head….for the title of “Best Glue Brush”. I trimmed the Betty Crocker brush so the bristles (?) ar...

Not bad - Not Good.

Not bad - Not Good.

Tried the 10.99 spray bottle from Rockler. I’ve got to say the Pitch wiped right off. What I liked: No harsh chemicals. Used unprotected hands. (There is an allergy warning on the bottle and ingesting the fluid calls for a trip to the ER.” Product has a citrus smell similar to fast orange hand cleaner. Works well on Pitch.Don’t need wire brushes. The video shows me using 0000 steel wool but a washcloth did just as well What was so-so. Limited Window to clean blades....
