Well you could get by without them. $15 a pair from Rockler. What the heck are they? They hold aux. fences and stopblocks to your existing rip fence, for crosscutting and dado operations where the blade would otherwise obliterate your existing fence. Just rip a piece of ply, melamine, or other stable stock, drill two holes for the clamps, and clamp away. The biesemeyer aux. fences with clamps are around $150. The only advantage I see is that their fence is exactly 1” thic...

Almost a really good clamp

Almost a really good clamp

05-27-2014 01:38 PM by mramseyISU | 4 comments »

I recieved these clamps as part of a Mini Clamp-It set with two of the assembly squares which work really well and 4 of these clamps. I’ve had them for a little over a year and up until recently I really liked them. About a month back I was using them and as I tightened them down I noticed that the threads on the clamp were all bottomed out but they weren’t tight. That was funny I thought and then I noticed that the head was coming off of all of them. The flaw on these clamps is t...

Great Guide

Great Guide

I have the 50” model of this All-In-One Clamp Guide and love it. It’s really nice to use when breaking down a 4’x8’ piece of sheet goods without having to manhandle it up on the table saw. I cut them up right on the tailgate of my pickup before they come into the shop. You don’t have to have the Saw Plate just hold the saw firmly against the guide. When you “set it up” for your circular saw Sharpie the offset between the blade and the saw’s shoe and you’ll not ...

It works, and the price is right

It works, and the price is right

Not a whole lot to say about these remote switches. I base my opinion on the functionality and the price, and this one does well in both areas. It’s pretty simple – you plug the base unit into the wall and plug your DC into the base unit, then when you want to turn the DC on or off you press the button on the remote control. Took about 20 seconds to install it, and it worked right away, no settings to mess around with or anything like that. Very handy when you have a smaller...

I purchased this Rockler Bench Cookie set as an impulse buy about a year ago. This purchase has proven to be my best impulse buy to date. Everyone in my family loves using the bench cookies, including the wifey and my 2 year old daughter who keeps trying to steal them, so she can do curls. I’m going to split my review into the 4 components. What I will say, is that while the set is awesome, if you find you only want the cookies and/or the cones (like me), you may be better off buying...

Good idea - bad design

Good idea - bad design

At one time, I had a Wixey digital guide on my table saw. It could tell me, to .001 of an inch, what the distance was from the blade to the fence. I discovered that knowing the exact distance was not as important as having the ability to adjust the distance easily in very small increments (i.e. micro adjust). I have micro adjustment capabilities on my router lift and router fence and I really like them. This tool allows me to micro adjust my table saw fence. It’s a good idea...

2 Great Glue Brushes - Rockler and Betty Crocker

2 Great Glue Brushes - Rockler and Betty Crocker

06-10-2013 02:45 AM by Denco | 9 comments »

I bought a Rockler glue brush and it works great, just as advertised. When the glue dries, you can peel it off. Easy to clean, spreads well. However….I was in the dollar store one day and they had Betty Crocker basting brushes….for a buck each. My curiosity got the best of me (you know where I’m going with this). I decided to do a comparison….head to head….for the title of “Best Glue Brush”. I trimmed the Betty Crocker brush so the bristles (?) ar...

Big results from small purchase

Big results from small purchase

For $4, this was a throw away purchase. I was buying some other items, so why not? Little did I realize that someone had invented a much better mousetrap! This thing works as advertized. It spreads glue evenly and easily and cleans up quickly. I haven’t tried the paddle yet, but I suspect that it works as well. This isn’t a big thing, but it it definitely will replace all but my largest glue spreaders.

Rockler's Concealed Hinge

Rockler's Concealed Hinge

03-13-2011 07:06 AM by ChunkyC | 1 comment »

I purchased some of these so that I could finish my upper shop cabinets. The hinges didn’t come with installation instruction but an email to Rockler’s Tech Support got me a PDF of “installation instructions” in about 2 days. The instructions are vague but there was enough information so that I could suss out how to install them. They really don’t tell you the set back for the hinges and where to pre-drill so I installed a set into some scrap to get the correc...

Makes Glue-ups Much Easier

Makes Glue-ups Much Easier

11-02-2014 04:22 PM by CharlesA | 5 comments »

There are certain conveniences in life that once you get used to them, it’s very hard to go back to the way things used to be. I think Rockler was first on the scene with the silicone glue accessories, and I’m happy they did. A few notes on these and some others out there. The glue tray is probably the most irreplaceable. I used to squirt glue on a scrap of wood and then toss it when I was done. Now I reach for the glue tray, and I can clean it with water when I’m d...
