Rockler customer service rocks

A little history. About 5 years ago I bought a mini bench top router table from Rockler. After two moves and some mishaps the mdf subfences were ruined so I needed new ones. I didn’t want to make my own so I contacted Rockler to see if I could order these parts. Rockler answered my email promptly with the information that they didn’t make that size anymore but that the longer ones for their regular table would fit, but would stick out at the sides a bit. And they asked what m...

All-in-one cleaning kit makes it simple.

All-in-one cleaning kit makes it simple.

This kit is really convenient. Sure you could gather all the pieces separately, but it’s nice to have them all together. The basin for the saw blades is really nice. You don’t have to worry about finding a shallow cookie sheet that might be used for food (and potentially getting someone mad at you). Just mix one part of the cleaner to 3 parts water and let your blade or router bit soak. After five minutes or so, use the included brush to scrub off the pitch and resin. Voila! Clean...

Precise Repeatability for Multiples

Precise Repeatability for Multiples

I am currently building a set of 6 Arts & Crafts chairs as designed by Kevin Rodel in FWW. I will be doing a project posting soon, but wanted to recommend a tool that really helped me on this job. In order to reduce individual fitting and trimming of all the joints, it is necessary to make mortises in the same place on each piece. With this jig, it’s easy to do. The tall back leg has 5 mortises, half of them angled. I was able to set up the jig, and place the mortises so the teno...

Highest quality pizza cutter I've ever seen

Highest quality pizza cutter I've ever seen

I decided to pick one up from Rockler after Lew’s great review. These things are no joke, a little pricey at ~$20 though. I’ve owned many pizza cutters and most are lightweight, blades wobble, or the blades are just crap. Not to mention that the blade is always off center. This one has none of those issues. Its the heaviest pizza cutter and kitchen utensil I own, solid stainless steel I believe. The blade is in the center with thick rubber or plastic washers on both sides ...

Rockler Fluting Jig. It works

Rockler Fluting Jig. It works

09-29-2011 at 07:08 PM by Craftsman on the lake | 5 comments »

Saddled with the idea of making fluted casings for a bedroom and eventually for the rest of the house, I decided to splurge and pick up Rockler’s fluting jig. I must say that after a little practice on some scrap to get used to it then finishing off a bedroom, it works nicely. The Jig is well made. It is constructed of phenol ply and has knobs to tighten and adjust that have metal inserts. To make a flute you set your router in it and adjust the jig so that two rails ride on both si...

Rockler corner caster - errr corner STOP blocks

Rockler corner caster - errr corner STOP blocks

Well I guess you get what you pay for. AT $16 one shouldn’t complain much but placed and a some what light cabinet you would think that they would work just a little better than they do. I got them because that would fit my application but I didn’t expect them to be as bad as they are. I can barely move the router table with them installed. I think that they are just torquing under and rubbing but the way they are made there isn’t much that could be done . Time to re-th...

My New Rockler HVLP Spray System

My New Rockler HVLP Spray System

04-03-2012 at 03:36 PM by Jorge Velez | 5 comments »

It’s been about 6 wks since I purchase this Rockler Spray System I’m very happy with the performance of this product. I own a small compressor and I had been using this for quite some time but I was kind of annoying with the level of noise and the fact that is not as portable as I wanted to be, this Spray system is fully portable and bit less noisy, however I had made an plywood enclosure and reduce the noise. I dont have a way to measure the noise levels but certainly is lower...

Clamps for glue edge boards

Clamps for glue edge boards

06-20-2013 at 02:48 PM by jerrells | 5 comments »

I do a lot of glue edge board glue-ups and was looking for a better and faster clamping system. My old one required four hand clamps and 4 cauls and did a fine job but the set up was very time consuming. After receiving some money for father’s day, I decided to give these a try. I must admit the guys at the local Rockler store were not helpful with any recommendations on the product. Also, at least my box came with NO instructions at all. Now I did have in mind what I wanted to accomplish ...

I purchased this Rockler Bench Cookie set as an impulse buy about a year ago. This purchase has proven to be my best impulse buy to date. Everyone in my family loves using the bench cookies, including the wifey and my 2 year old daughter who keeps trying to steal them, so she can do curls. I’m going to split my review into the 4 components. What I will say, is that while the set is awesome, if you find you only want the cookies and/or the cones (like me), you may be better off buying...

Almost a really good clamp

Almost a really good clamp

05-27-2014 at 06:38 AM by mramseyISU | 4 comments »

I recieved these clamps as part of a Mini Clamp-It set with two of the assembly squares which work really well and 4 of these clamps. I’ve had them for a little over a year and up until recently I really liked them. About a month back I was using them and as I tightened them down I noticed that the threads on the clamp were all bottomed out but they weren’t tight. That was funny I thought and then I noticed that the head was coming off of all of them. The flaw on these clamps is t...
