Ryobi straight router bits, set of 4, suck

I think cheap tools have a place. I have 2 very nice kitchen knives and a few crap knives; i use them for different things. So i needed a bit to rough out a curve and using a router on a swing arm seemed to make sense, so I picked up these bits. I expected them to leave a rough edge, I expected them to be less than scary sharp, I expected them to do their job just not to be great about it. I was wrong, turns out red oak beat that bit silly. By my math, this bit made 4 36” passes ...

Cheap and does what I need it to do

Cheap and does what I need it to do

I picked this up at Home Depot a few weeks ago. Unfortunately I only have a benchtop table saw. That means no cross cutting or ripping sheet goods. There is only 6” in front of the throat, and anything that small gets cross cut on my sliding miter saw. So why on earth would I buy a 40.00$ saw? Well, read below. I will say this has seen some fairly heavy use in the past few weeks. Here are my observations: 1 – The blade. This is a large reason why this saw got 3 stars. Out of t...

Ryobi Table Saw - Model RTS20

Ryobi Table Saw - Model RTS20

I was definately in need of a new table saw, and I looked at various brands at a few retailers before making my decision. Rigid, Dewalt, Laguna and other hi-priced makes were not in my price league, nor did I want a large size saw in my garage workshop. I finally settled for the Ryobi RTS20 model after seeing one on display at Home Depot. I bought one and assembled it yesterday and have already used it several times. My thoughts and comments on this saw are as follows: 1. First of al...

When I first saw this saw I though how cute, so little. But I knew it was just up my alley. This is not for home repairs or major construction, but is brilliant at cutting small parts. Hook it up to a frued 7 1/2 60tooth blade and you get great smooth cut small parts. I use it for segment turning in cutting the small angles and I also use it in making bandings and fan motifs. If your cutting small parts this is a great saw.

Ryobi TEK4 All-Play Jobsite MP3 Music Player

Ryobi TEK4 All-Play Jobsite MP3 Music Player

This is the TEK4 All-Play Jobsite MP3 Music Player by Ryobi Tools. It is water, dust and impact resistant, and plays all types of music files. It will hold 2 giggaflops of music, which translates to around 500 songs, depending on the file size. This player will rattle your eardrums for approximately 72 continuous hours thanks to the 4-volt lithium-ion battery. Just clip it to your superhero belt or attach it to the armband and carry it around the jobsite or workshop. Before using the All-P...

Ryobi AP1301

Ryobi AP1301

I love my planer, again for the price. Mine does have the 4” dust port so it must be a later version. I recently noticed that it is not planing a consistent thickness across the width of the board and I am getting inconsistent snipe, some times worse than others on the same board. It is going off to a service center tomorrow.

Great planer for what it is, and what it costs, lacking finer features.

Well, after 2 and a half years of trouble free service, I figured I should write up a review of my Ryobi AP1301 planer for you folks. Like many other owners of these planers, I have found the lack of infeed and outfeed support annoying, at least at first, and it DOES snipe if you just shove wood through it, and let it just dangle out the back end. I have found that supporting your lumber by hand as you feed it in, and take it out of the planer takes care of the snipe issue almost completel...

Excellent grinder for the money.

Excellent grinder for the money.

When I had decided on the Wolverine jig system for my tool sharpening needs, I more or less knew I needed an 8” grinder as the wheels on my 6” were pretty narrow… Upon reviewing the recommended grinder speed on the owners manual of the Wolverine Jig System (Page 1, lower right hand corner), and seeing that THEY recommended an 8” 3450 rpm grinder, I decided to do a little digging on what grinders I wanted. I see a LOT of folks going with the multi speed, and slow speed ...

Ryobi Tek4 headphones....GREAT buy!

Ryobi Tek4 headphones....GREAT buy!

So this is a must buy! I had just purchased these at The Home Depot at $60 and its worth every penny! I thought they were just regular headphones with a built in radio but then I tried it on and turns out it doesnt have a radio but it shuts out loud noises and magnifies the small sounds! I tested it out and I could still hear my radio as I was running wood through my planer! AMAZING! And not only that but it comes with a 4V battery and charger! You can also connect your MP3 player to it to li...

You Get What You Paid For

Sorry to say that this little sander only gets a two star rating. I have had this sander less than a year and the bearing under the sanding plate has froze. It had such potential. ConsThe loading of sandpaper is not that great. But once you get the paper aligned and under the holders its OK. Loud Dust control not great and shop vac couldn’t be connected to the port. The sander has been used maybe 6 times. The past two days it was being used to sand the planter boxes and benc...
