Grizzly G0478 2 HP Hybrid Cabinet Saw Review

Grizzly G0478 2 HP Hybrid Cabinet Saw Review

2234 days ago by Timber4fun | 17 comments »

Introduction – After 16 years of using a Craftsman contractor-style table saw, I decided to investigate and upgrade to a cabinet saw. My priorities included dust collection, accurate fence, performance, accurate/efficient cuts, quality components, functionality, size, and price. I am a no nonsense type of person. I really don’t want a bunch of fancy marketing features that tend to break in the first 5 years. Give me a good solid tool and I am happy. The Grizzly G0478 2 HP Hybrid Cabinet ...

Grizzly Sander

Grizzly Sander

2274 days ago by brunob | 9 comments »

Had a little extra cash in my pocket so couldn’t resist a trip to Grizzly in Williamsport. I’ve been thinking about a drum sander for some time. I made the purchase. It’s very heavy – takes at least two people to put it together. What was amazing was that it was perfect right out of the box. The conveyer tracked right on and no adjustment was needed for the drum. I have not changed the sandpaper yet but it appears straight foreword. A nice feature is that it has it&...

the Grizzly G0478 2 hp hybrid cab. saw

So it began by ordering it off line. I was kinda nervous about getting a hybrid, but if i didn’t spend the money i had right then …. my car would have broken down or some mysterious thing would have happen that would have taken all my money. So as i’m patiently waiting like a child before Christmas pacing back and forth for this saw to arrive… The saw finally arrives via Saia Motor transportation at about 7:05 pm …. the driver had a long day, he said, as i talk...

Spiral cutters worth the cost!

Spiral cutters worth the cost!

2335 days ago by tooldad | 12 comments »

I was recently able to obtain a 5hp Grizzly 1033X 20” Planer for my school shop. Our old 20” planer has been around for 10 years and has seen better days. I convinced admin that this was the way to go and the extra cost would be worth it to cut on noise levels. I have always heard of this but have never experienced it until just a month ago. Boy were they right! We now have 2 planers in the shop. The spiral cutter is quieter standing next to the machine than standing in the ...

Grizzly G0656 8" JOINTER 3HP W/ MOBILE BASE

Grizzly G0656 8" JOINTER 3HP W/ MOBILE BASE

2358 days ago by DaveH | 14 comments »

Just finished assembly and initial testing of my new jointer. My initial reaction is very positive. All parts required for assembly were present and accounted for and nothing was damaged. The assembly took about 4 hours. I just followed the instructions included and everything went together and the fit was good. Overall quality is good. The in feed and out feed tables are flat and aligned as well as the fence. Test cuts were good. I looked at Jet, Delta and Powermatic before ordering ...

Grizzly G0452 6" Jointer

Grizzly G0452 6" Jointer

This is another tool that I’ve had for about a year. It does a beautiful job jointing and it comes with 2 push pads ( Grizzly calls them safety blocks) as standard equipment. The built in mobile base is a God send in my shop as I like to have all of my large power tools on wheels, I use them outside weather permitting. It’s 4” dust chute is very efficient. There’s not to much else to say except that I would highly recommend one to anyone looking for a 6” jointer

Grizzly 17" GO513 BS

Grizzly 17" GO513 BS

I bought a Grizzly 17” bs model#513 a few weeks ago. It arrived in exellent condtion and took less then a hours to put it together and fine tune it. I have now resawn aroung 20bdft of apple, 5 bdft of walnut and several others. It has not bogged down much, only when cutting a 1/4” peice off of a chunk that was 11-1/2” tall. This may also due to the fact that it is running on 120at this time and shareing the circuit w/ a few lights. All in all it is a exellent machine and wel...

A good starter Dado Set

A good starter Dado Set

2379 days ago by IowaWoodcrafter | 4 comments »

Having never used another dado set I am unable to make any comparisons. I recently built a mission style bed that required the use of a stacked dado blade set. Being on a tight budget after buying all the quarter sawn white oak I went looking for an inexpensive set. I decided early on that I didn’t want to try my luck with a wobble blade or something from a low cost tool store. I looked online at several of the well known woodworking stores but couldn’t justify the cost of...

A nice bandsaw

A nice bandsaw

2392 days ago by Mike Lingenfelter | 13 comments »

Grizzly calls this the “Ultimate” bandsaw. That’s a bold statement to live up to. I own many Grizzly tools and I’m very happy with all of them. This is a really good bandsaw but I can’t call it the Ultimate. There are a few changes that would push into the Ultimate category. First, I’m not that happy with the fence. It looks nice, but it does have a bit of play in it. When I clamp it down the far end will move sometimes. I have to keep a close eye o...
