Fantastic bit set, especially for the price!

Fantastic bit set, especially for the price!

After needing sizes that just weren’t in my Porter Cable 8 piece set, and finding out what it would cost to buy bits individually, I decided, being the cheapskate that I am, to look for a set. The big box of crayons as it were. Now I have been looking pretty seriously into the MLCS 31 piece Master Forstner Bit Set (and they ARE coming down in price) but at the list price I had first seen them at of $129.00, I was open to options. I ran accross the Fine Woodworking article that raved ...

Grizzly G1023SL TS Overall First Impression

Grizzly G1023SL TS Overall First Impression

1773 days ago by Kevin | 29 comments »

I received my new TS this past Thursday. The freight guy was kind enough to go ahead and put it in my garage for me :) That was excellent I thought and was not expecting that at all. This review will just be a first impression on how it was shipped and how easy/difficult it was to assemble the machine. 01. SHIPPING – 5/5 The shipping was great. No holes or damage at all on any of the boxes. It came with two boxes. One for the fence and other for machine. The cabinet came o...

I've got a problem with this saw

I've got a problem with this saw

1809 days ago by 45acpbuilder | 19 comments »

It’s so darn quiet I’m afraid I’ll walk off and leave it running! I added a little flag to the tensioner so I won’t turn it on with the blade loose. Seems someone, Grizzly themselves maybe, could add this to their saws with out any problem. It’s just a bead chain tied to the tension lever and a 1/4” bolt tapped into the arm behind the switch so the tension lever lifts the flag so it blocks the start switch. The saw blade squealed when resawing so I ran ...

Grizzly G1023SL 10" Table Saw 3 HP Single-Phase 220V Left-Tilt

Grizzly G1023SL 10" Table Saw 3 HP Single-Phase 220V Left-Tilt

Disclaimer I’m an amatuer woodworker with about 3 years of experience. I am not a professional, and I’m not paid to do this kind of work. Also, my entire shop measures roughly 11’ x 22’, and includes some storage as well, so I may be more cautious about sizing and portability compared to your average woodworker. IntroductionI originally purchased this saw in June of 2007, and as this is July 2009, I’ve got 2 full solid years of use of it it so far, and it is...

Grizzly G9955 Bench Top Dual Fan Dust Filter

Grizzly G9955 Bench Top Dual Fan Dust Filter

1821 days ago by FrankLad | 1 comment »

When I decided to move my small woodworking operation indoors, I knew I would need some type of dust collection system. My projects are small – mostly wooden rings and the occasional ring box or other small item, but I still didn’t want even a small amount of fine dust particles floating around in our house. The good thing for me was I knew I wouldn’t require a full-fledged, expensive unit. After a bit of research (thanks to the guys in the LJ forums for suggestions!) I...

Grizzly G0555 Band Saw with Woodslicer Blade - Wow!

Grizzly G0555 Band Saw with Woodslicer Blade - Wow!

1822 days ago by Greg Wurst | 14 comments »

I finally got to play with the new band saw, and wow what a difference a quality tool and blade make. I bought this primarily for resawing, and so far it has not disappointed. http://www.grizzly.com/products/g0555 The band saw came mostly assembled except for the base and table. It was really stuffed into the Styrofoam, and was a pita to get out. I had to tear the foam apart around the base to get it out. Otherwise, it went together easily. The riser block was easy to install, an...

Grizzly G0458 18" Open End Drum Sander

Grizzly G0458 18" Open End Drum Sander

I finally got a chance to spend some time with the drum sander and I though I’d give you my impressions. http://grizzly.com/products/18-1-1-2-HP-Single-Phase-Open-End-Drum-Sander/G0458 It arrived largely assembled except for the stand. It weighs a metric ton, so while I moved it and mounted it myself I’d highly recommend getting someone to help you. If you don’t have a mobile base you’re not going to be able to move this very easily. I ran a few boards throu...

Grizzly G0691 Table Saw

Grizzly G0691 Table Saw

1825 days ago by stitchop | 30 comments »

I have assembled my new G0691 Grizzly table saw, and made a few cuts, and will post my first impressions.I purchased this saw as soon as Grizzly put free shipping on it. This saw is replacing a 11 year old Craftsman contractor saw, and I expect it to be the last table saw I ever buy. .... Unpacking and assembly of the saw was a simple matter of following simple instuctions. All the parts were present and easily identified. The assembly starts with removing a brace from the tunnions. This ...

Grizzly G0690 Table Saw with riving knife

Grizzly G0690 Table Saw with riving knife

Received the saw about 2 weeks ago. Arrived in perfect condition. Picked it up from freight office using a flat bed trailer—-recommend using trailer and not truck. Four of us moved it to it’s mobile base ( I used the Delta mobile base and would recommend it for this saw). Table is well finished and flat. Assembly was simple and no “duh” moments. Saw has plenty of power and runs smooth with little or no vibration. I am sure it was just the luck of the draw, but my sa...

G0513X2 17" Bandsaw

G0513X2 17" Bandsaw

1847 days ago by Don K. | 37 comments »

This will be kind of a “Duel” review….One over the G0513X2 17” Bandsaw, and one over Grizzly’s customer service. I received the Bandsaw several weeks ago, but because I had been so busy….I did not have time to even un-crate it. It stood in the corner of my shop for about a week and a half before I could even open it up and start to put it together. I opened up the saw, looked it all over….no scratches, dents, blems etc..so we’re off to a goo...
