My first bandsaw - nice saw and features with minor issues

I ordered this on 12/31/2010 by phone from Grizzly. It was shipped from the Springfield, MO location via UPS Freight to Phoenix, AZ. I ordered it as a will call since I live pretty close to the terminal, I’ve got a F-250 to carry it in, and I didn’t think a semi could get into my housing development (in Phoenix). It arrived at UPS on Thursday, 1/6/2011, 6 days later (not bad considering the holiday and weather). The box was damaged. The UPS rep opened it on the spot – the uni...

Grizzly G0656P 3HP Jointer First Look

Grizzly G0656P 3HP Jointer First Look

01. ShippingPlaced order on 12/8 and it was shipped out on 12/9. It arrived 60 miles south from me on 12/10. I had to wait at the earliest to 12/14 to get it. Driver didn’t contact me so I had to wait until 12/16 to get it. UPS driver helped me haul it 80 feet into my garage. Both boxes did not have any dings or holes in themat all. The driver told me they were extra careful with my package. Shipment weighed in at 582 lbs and the jointer fence was a bear to haul I can say that. ...

My New Grizzly G0715P Table Saw

My New Grizzly G0715P Table Saw

12-16-2010 12:12 AM by moonls | 24 comments »

I received my saw 4 days after placing the order and am very pleased with this product! With the help of Ellen35, I assembled the mobile base and got the saw up and running with very few set-backs. The hardest part was getting the saw from the driveway down into my basement shop! The Shop Fox mobile base is very sturdy and makes moving it a breeze. The wings were installed without much effort and the table is dead flat. The only problem with installing the rails wasn’t noticed unt...

I love it, but in a few years, look for it on eBay.

Did some turnings, so I’m ready for a review. The wife one day was looking through one of the mired of catalogs we get in the mail, and came across a cherry bowl for $300.00. She then proclaimed, “You can make that!”. There’s the buzzer, and their off! A green lite to buy tools!!!As it happened, Grizzly was putting on their “Tent Sale” in two weeks. I planned a weekend around it. With a stop at Hershey Park. The wife loved it, because well, she lov...

Polar Bear in Texas! G0715P

Polar Bear in Texas! G0715P

I assembled my new G0715P table saw today! First Impression:This thing is sweet! The nickle did not move a bit during the test. I used the blade that came with it for my tests before putting on my infinity blade. It cut clean, smooth and left a almost glue ready edge. Conversion to 110:The conversion to 110 was very easy. Of all things, I was the most nervous about this. Changing the circuit breaker was 3 screws, changing the plug was 3 wires and changing the jumpers was 4 screws. VERY ...

Polar Bear in Florida!

Polar Bear in Florida!

I ordered this Grizzly Hybrid saw online on a Friday afternoon. Grizzly sent me an email with all of the shipping information and tracking number. The order was shipped the following Monday and 3 days later it was in my garage! FIRST IMPRESSION The first thing I noticed was the quality of the packaging. The saw was packed very neatly and securely and arrived without any damage. I was even more pleased when I started the unpacking process. I was very impressed with the overall quality of...

Global warming won't stop these Polar Bears.

So I got this saw some weeks ago and it spent a week sitting assembled before I finally got the 220V circuit wired in the garage. I came from a cheap aluminium top table saw, the table was extremely small and fence extremely lacking. I may have had the blade miraculously adjusted to within 0.001” but that only helped my crosscuts. I even designed table extensions so that I can attach a real fence to it, but after many hours in solidworks I finally discovered that was not going to work well in...

Pretty Nice Carving Gouges

Pretty Nice Carving Gouges

10-29-2010 12:23 AM by Eric in Central Florida. | 4 comments »

I wanted a set of carving gouges , but I couldn’t afford to spend an arm and a leg.I was pretty surprised when these arrived and turned out to be nicer then I thought they would be.Given the price of around $11.00 a gouge, these are nice. They range from 1/4” to 1” and were sharp enough to use right out of the box, but I’ll hone them up real good and give a report a little down the road on how they work out.I gave four stars based on my initial impression, but we’...

Initial impressions of the Grizzly G0572 Hanging Air Filter w/ Remote.

Initial impressions of the Grizzly G0572 Hanging Air Filter w/ Remote.

For starters, I am not claiming this is an all inclusive review, but rather this is an initial impressions write up for the Grizzly G0572 Hanging Air Filter w/ remote. I have been watching price tags on these machines for quite some time now, and had considered the smaller Jet, Penn State, Delta, even Harbor Freight models, and had been put off by either the price tag, or the features. The G0572 had the CFM I was looking for, and was on sale for a price tag I was willing to spend. For the ...

Bear of a jointer with grizzly sharp teeth!

Bear of a jointer with grizzly sharp teeth!

I am mainly a cane maker so my wood working techniques or needs don’t require the same as that of a cabinet or furniture maker, but since I do use a LOT of very hard woods (Afromosia, Bloodwood, Cocobolo, Ebony, Jatoba, Osage Orange, Macadamia, Macawood, Padauk, Pink Ivory, Rosewood, Ziricote, etc.). I needed a quality jointer and wanted one with the cutting ability to get a nice smooth surface on these woods, especially the figured ones for my cane work and future furniture projects. ...
