A Great Saw...But Fence is lacking

A Great Saw...But Fence is lacking

My first shop was on the balcony of a small apartment – and it started with a Bosch jobsite table saw. A worthy table saw for my first, but finally last year I decided to get serious with my shop and after much research, purchased a Grizzly G0715P Hybrid table saw. First Impressions – excitement! From jobsite saw to a 2HP, cast iron top, full size table, I couldn’t be happier. After initial assembly and alignment I couldn’t wait to make some cuts. The saw did not di...

G0703P - Ignore the naysayers

G0703P - Ignore the naysayers

Hello All, I finally upgraded to a better DC system for my shop. I had previously built a Thien Baffle for my HF DC and that worked pretty well (better than the stock HF DC) but I still had fine dust everywhere. I sold that DC before I moved last year. In setting up my new shop I decided to treat myself so I started the hunt, I knew I wanted a Cyclone from past research and I also knew the size of the duct had a large part to play in its efficiency. I did a good amount of research and n...

Grizzly G0609X 12" Jointer

Grizzly G0609X 12" Jointer

07-18-2012 12:11 AM by Joe | 11 comments »

It was time to upgrade my 6” Delta jointer, which has served me well for 4 years. I was planning to go with an 8” but decided to go ahead and get the 12”. This is my first Grizzly tool and so far it seems to be worth the money spent. A1Jim done a good review on this jointer so I am not going to rehash the same info. I will go over a few issues I had with mine. - Fit and finish is good, not great. It’s heavy, it’s quite, hey it’s a bear.- The table faces and the fence face were very nice...

Here I go again-with Grizzly

Here I go again-with Grizzly

Finally pulling the trigger on a new, 17” bandsaw for my larger jewelry box line shaped like the instruments I build, I had to wait a few weeks for my saw. Finally arriving at my day job for unloading, crate and all were carefully inserted onto skids into my Chevy Suburban by 6 guys so I could take it home. Friday the 13th of July I carefully slid it out with the help of my John Deere and some oak ramps, and carefully soon had it upright, unpacked, and finally in position in my shop. N...

Review and Testing of a G0440 Cyclone Dust Collector

Review and Testing of a G0440 Cyclone Dust Collector

I will start by saying that I am new to LumberJocks. This is my first post and my first tool review. Like many woodworkers, I have a well equipped shop. Also like many woodworkers, I left dust collection until last. This is an unfortunate. I now realize that dust collection should be one of the first things you should consider as soon as you purchase that first tool. As much as you would like to purchase more tools to do more things, a dust collector should be considered after purchasin...

Grizzly 4 1/2" Mallet

Grizzly 4 1/2" Mallet

06-16-2012 10:45 PM by Stephenw | 2 comments »

I considered building a mallet, but with so many other projects in the queue, I decided to buy the 4 1/2” mallet from grizzly.com. The handle finish is a little rough. There is also dirt and a brown substance all over the mallet. The pictures are of the new, unused mallet. Many mallet heads are made from several parts laminated together. This mallet head is a solid piece with a tapered hole bored through for the handle. The result is a somewhat sloppy fit. At $12.95, it wasn’...

Just what I wanted

Just what I wanted

I purchased this 5/25/12 and picked it up from the UPS freight terminal on 6/1/12. I paid the extra thirty something dollars for liftgate delivery to my home, but UPS contacted me and said they wouldn’t be able to deliver it from their terminal to my house for almost an additional week and I didn’t want to wait. I had no trouble getting it home using my dad’s F150. The UPS guys put it on a pallet and loaded it for me with their forklift. It took three 200+ pound men to u...

I use this same machine

I use this same machine

This is a great machine. I do not use the flap part. Have read many comments about how difficult it is, and some even say dangerous. So, I use the small bladder on one side, with 80 grit and the large one with 150 grit. I mainly use it to clean up rounded over (with router) corners to build outdoor furniture. I use a handheld bicycle pump and it is probably less than 10 psi because I think I push too hard and it would be too aggressive at a higher psi. When I was first looking for one, ...

Grizzly T10097 8-inch Grinder / Sharpener - Not worth the money

Grizzly T10097 8-inch Grinder / Sharpener - Not worth the money

05-21-2012 10:09 PM by DHS | 22 comments »

Executive summary: Cheap tool and not recommended. Details: Tired of grinding plane irons and chisels on my bench grinder while repeatedly quenching them in an old coffee cup nearby, but dismayed at the price of the Tormek system, I paid $90.00 for the Grizzly T10097 8-inch grinder with water bath, tool rest and leather stropping wheel. I got what I paid for. I’ll cut to the chase. The housing is plastic. A grinder with a plastic housing? The motor shaft runs through a bushing t...

Grizzly GO703P The right Dust Collector for my shop

Grizzly GO703P The right Dust Collector for my shop

05-15-2012 02:50 AM by Dewshan | 12 comments »

After many years of building projects without good dust collection I decided it was time to get serious about controlling the dust in my shop. Besides the obvious health issues it is also not much fun to be covered in dust after a long day of woodworking. I also recently upgraded my table saw to a JET hybrid that has a dust port and I was feeling a little guilty about running the saw without one. My shop is a 2 car garage that I also use to work on cars so I wanted a DC that could be mo...
