Grizzly G0656P 8" Jointer - Great "User" Machine with Minor Flaws

As the title of this post suggests, this is a review of Grizzly’s G0656P 3HP 220V 8” Jointer. Some of you may have seen my initial post claiming my joy over purchasing this jointer and a G0703P DC system and the subsequent shipping issues UPS had delivering it. I won’t rehash any the shipping issues but if you are interested in reading about it, check out the comments within my original post by clicking here Packaging————————...

Grizzly G0690 even with problems still good value

Grizzly G0690 even with problems still good value

Based on many of the reviews I have read, the Grizzly G0690 Cabinet saw was the best bang for the buck. As there have been many reviews given I will only add a few comments to those that I have read. The saw arrived without a ding, dent or missing part and went together well. I was very disappointed with wiring as it appeared to be only 14 gauge wire with a 220 plug configuration I had never seen. I had my electrician rewire it completely with 12 gauge wire and use a more conventional tw...

My Griz G0715P

Delivery: Took 5 days. I paid Grizzly the extra $34 for lift gate service which gets your saw off the back of the truck and onto the ground. At this point they are done. Grizzly said that I would have to call the freight company (UPS) to get a quote to get it inside the garage. UPS quoted me $199 to wheel it in, but encouraged me to chat with the driver first. In other words she was trying to tell me that the driver would probably just do it for me, and he did. Customer service was ve...

Grizzly 1023RLW 10" 3 HP 220V Table Saw

Grizzly 1023RLW 10" 3 HP 220V Table Saw

I received this saw about a week ago. I must say, whoever built this saw, must have just come back from a long and relaxing vacation. It was built perfectly. The powder coat was spot on, no overspray to be found. The build date shows to be late January 2013 so it’s fresh off the boat. That may be why there was very little cosmoline to clean up. The packaging was very good and shipping went without a hitch and no damage to either of the boxes. Assembly went without difficulty; the instructi...

Grizzly 5, shipping 1

Grizzly 5, shipping 1

I bought a GO490X 8” jointer from Grizzly about 4 months ago. Been wanting to do a review, so here’s my scorecard on the whole experience (10 being the best, 1 the worst) with some comments for each: Ordering: 9 Over the phone, very easy. Shipping: 1 I picked up at the UPS Freight terminal. It was dropped in shipping. Sheared and bent cast pieces and bolts, parts falling out. See the photos. Bad news, it must have gotten away from somebody, huh? Glad I wasn’t around. Customer s...

Almost Two Years with My Grizzly

Almost Two Years with My Grizzly

I feel fortunate to have this fine machine. After trading up from an ancient contractors saw which although carefully calibrated and adjusted, had limited power and stability. While the new Grizzly is certainly not perfect, in every area significant area, this machine is excellent. It capably performs the most precise woodworking tasks. The machine arrived from the factory with the arbor exactly parallel with the miter slots. As many of you know this is extremely important for doing precis...

8 x 72 3HP Jointer from Santa

8 x 72 3HP Jointer from Santa

Santa ( aka Blondie ) was good to me again this year. I have been using a Delta 6 inch Table Top Jointer for yrs. As most of you know that can be a challenge when doing 8 foot boards. After a lot of research we decided on this one with the normal cutter head. Cpl buddies say the Helix can leave lines in the wood. Think this might be myth truthfully, however I can always up grade later if I feel I need to. I have been using the blade method for ever and it has worked fine for me. I thought ...

Grizzly Wood Threading and Die Set

I bought this mostly on Price, I check around at other online stores and this appeared to be the cheapest, with that said I couldn’t just walk in the Door and purchase given my location. it was 11.95 for the Tap and 22.95 for the Die. Grizzly of course delivered right away and I got my purchase within the specified time suggested for my Delivery to Alaska. Quality: Tap: the overall quality for the Tap was superb, it had no chips or loose metal ends to clean and was oiled to prevent from...

I just received my Grizzly $140 router table and its all I could ask for after having tried to make my own router table and ending up with a bowed/warped tabletop with no fence. The black powder coated lets and braces were stuck to the paper inserts meant to keep the pieces apart, but I think that is a minor complaint given the value of the overall package. Once put together, I now have a fully functional router table with fence and insert plate. Assembly was very easy. Although it lo...

Grizzly Strikes Again

Grizzly Strikes Again

01-31-2013 02:35 AM by tme4tls | 29 comments »

I have been having trouble breathing this winter while the shop has had the doors and windows closed. Normally, two large drum fans keep a good volume of air going in and out which keeps the dust down. Works well for the warmer months but in the colder months when I have the heat on the dust gets to be a bit much. I thought about an air filter but never got around to ordering one. So, I decided to order a Grizzly G9965 air filter for the shop since they claimed it would change the air in a...
