Grizzly H3051 Riser Block Kit (for G0555) but also fits Ridgid BS1400

I recently purchased and assembled a Ridgid 14” floor model bandsaw (the BS1400). I had also ordered and received the 6” riser kit from Grizzly that is made for their G0555 14” bandsaw, but also fits several of the other 14” bandsaws: Ridgid, Craftsman, Cummins, Summit, and others. It ran about $80 shipped, which is half what the Ridgid kit costs (if you can get one). This kit is rated 5 stars by 19 of 22 reviewers on Amazon, with the other three 4’s and 3...

Best Bang for the buck.

Best Bang for the buck.

I received this router table with stand for $140 bucks delivered to my door. I was hesistant because there are not a lot of reviews on this table and the low price, but I needed a simple table to get some craft fair projects completed. I ended up being competely impressed when I opened the box. It came to my door in fantastic condition about 3 days after I placed my order. Assembly was very easy and straightforward. I took about an hour and only had 3 different bolts for assembly. 95 perce...

This review is very long and specific. If you’re in a hurry I suggest reading the cons for both the planer and jointer, the finish quality cheat sheet, and the verdict and coming back to the review later. The first thing I did was put it on the HTC3000 mobile base. The base fits as well as I expected but could use better wheel bearings as this thing is extremely heavy. My 135 lb. self can move it on my own with some hard pushing though. After I got off all the shipping grease I c...

First new Band Saw

First new Band Saw

08-14-2011 10:53 PM by MarktheWoodButcher | 12 comments »

The whole Experience. Including my lack of it. I had been struggling with my first band saw an old Craig’s list 1/2 hp 14” Delta on resawing and log sawing for the last 4 years. Since it only cost me $50 how can I complain. But about week ago the switch broke and some of the magic smoke got out of the motor so I decided to move a little further up town and ordered a Grizzly G0513P 17” 2 HP Bandsaw, Polar Bear Series . Four days from phone ordering to the UPS truck pul...

My Grizzy Experience

My Grizzy Experience

08-02-2011 03:12 AM by Danc333 | 38 comments »

Hello, This is my first post, but I wanted to talk about my experience so far. After much research I decided to buy a Grizzly 715 hybrid table saw. It arrived well packed and in excellent condition. I took my time setting it up and installing my TS-LS positioner with router table. It took me a couple weeks to finish, working a couple hours at night. I have to say over all I am very impressed with the saw. I like the build quality and the fit and finish are very good. The cast iron table is le...

Grizzly G0690 Sawed in Alabama

Grizzly G0690 Sawed in Alabama

I finally have 220 in the shop now and cut my first piece of wood with this saw.Only a 2×6 but it went through the saw like warm butter. I was very pleased.Vibration is near zero and the saw is very quite; I was surprised as to just how quiet. This is my 3rd table saw all others were big box bought portable contractor type. I’m not going to repeat all the specs again, most folks here already know about this saw. As far as the cosmolene there was very little actually; I was...

Great Drill Press, meh Milling Machine

Great Drill Press, meh Milling Machine

NOTE: The G1006 mill and the G1007 mill are EXACTLY THE SAME MILL. The G1007 has the addition of an X axis power feed. So this review applies for both. First off I generally like this machine. The few problems I’ve found can be worked around or are just fit/finish pet peeves. Yes it’s intended as a mettle working machine. But I bought it specifically for precision cutting wooden mechanical parts. So mine is a woodworking machine ;). If you’re upgrading from a drill pre...

Grizzly 8" jointer -- first impressions

Grizzly 8" jointer -- first impressions

06-24-2011 11:32 PM by glassyeyes | 12 comments »

I purchased the Grizzly G0656 helical head 8” jointer on June 11, and received it a few days ago. I have assembled it and tested it, and feel it is a good—though not perfect—tool. My rating also takes into account that this is very reasonably priced for an 8” helical head jointer; I would expect a little better fit and finish, with fewer issues, on a higher-priced machine. PICTURES: Plenty of pictures are available online: I included these to show a simple way to...

New Planner

New Planner

06-22-2011 10:23 PM by lrob | 10 comments »

I just got a new Grizzley GO453PX planner with spiral cuter head. It arrived by Freight at the dock where I work. Loaded it on my Pick-Up after work. It weights in at 700LBs. Getting it in the shop was a little tricky as the loader I used had a bucket wider than by 6’ double doors I have going into the shop. We finaly got it in and it took about 2 hours to get it all assembled and another 2 hours cleaning of all the protective grease off machine [Alcocol and elbow grease worked good]...
