Great Starter Routing Table

Great Starter Routing Table

If you need a decent quality routing table, a build it yourself option just isn’t right now, this is your choice. I’ve looked around, and this is the best value. Easy transaction and fast delivery from Griz. Picked up a coupon that helped some. It’s a heavy box, well packed. Typical Griz manual, with one exception, see below. Basically, you assemble rails to the bottom of the table top, assemble the legs to those rails and add the braces to the middle of the leg...

Grizzly H7653. The Best Tool Upgrade You'll Ever Make!

Grizzly H7653. The Best Tool Upgrade You'll Ever Make!

I picked up a Jet-JJCSX off Craigslist a few weeks ago and it was in great shape, except for the blades. They were completely destroyed and it looked as though the previous owner jointed a board full of wood screws. Anyway, after looking costs of the various blades and comparing HSS vs carbide vs how frequently they would have to be changed (which is not a pleasant undertaking) I started looking at the spiral cutter heads on the market and decided to go with the Grizzly for a number of rea...

G0514X2B 19" 3 HP Extreme-Series Bandsaw with Motor Brake

Here is my review of the grizzly G0514X2B 19” 3 HP Extreme-Series Bandsaw with Motor Brake. I ordered the saw about 3 monthes ago. Shipping – The saw arrived at my house about 4 or 5 buisiness days after ordering and was packed in a flimsy wooded crate but I did not see any problems tahat stemmed from this. The material of the crate was 1/2” X 3” pine. I did not see any damage after removing the crate si I guess it was fine. I did pay for the lift gate and the frie...

Byrd Shelix Planer Head Retro

Byrd Shelix Planer Head Retro

11-14-2011 04:15 PM by tenontim | 8 comments »

Decided to upgrade my 15” Grizzly planer to the Byrd shelix head. This head not only has the helical design, but the inserts are set at an angle to cause a shear cut to the wood, which will cut down on tear out and give a smoother cut. The cost of replacing the standard blades was beginning to get my attention, so if these index-able, 4 sided, carbide inserts hold up as advertised, I should be saving some money. I bought this planer head through Grizzly, which is on sale right now f...

Grizzly G0555

Grizzly G0555

11-12-2011 04:19 AM by mushmouse | 48 comments »

After reading so many positive reviews for the G0555 I went ahead and purchased one. I always seem to be the one in a hundred who gets the lemon. I have limited experience with bandsaws and am hoping it’s just a setup error on my part, and that someone may have some insight they can offer me. I have spoken to Grizzly tech help several times but find their responses inadequate. First the trivial issues (at least I think they are trivial). 1.) Can’t adjust the guide beari...

My New Grizzly Bandsaw

My New Grizzly Bandsaw

I am in love! I have never reviewed a product and am not rerally sure how to do this but I do have to say that this product has changed and inhanced my woodworking so much. I have 2 blades that I work with; a 1/4 and 3/4 Highland Woodworking Wood Slicer blades that are amazing. I ordered the riser for this saw as well so I do use 105” blades. The setup is so easy. From the table to the fence to the miter gauge, it is so easy to square things up and get perfect cuts. The dust collection ...

My first lathe.

My first lathe.

To start this off i want everyone to know that this is my first lathe and the only one i have ever turned on. Also its the only one i have seen in person. I left the lathe with dust on it so i would not get ragged for having a unused shop. As per request from a patron on this LJ’S i waited a few months after receiving lathe before doing a review. I have turned close to one hundred projects on this lathe so far. Now for the review lets start with a little information on the lathe. Mot...

Initial impression is that this Drill Press Table is okay

Initial impression is that this Drill Press Table is okay

I added this Grizzly H7827 Drill Press Table to my Ridgid DP1550 drill press. I’ve read other reviews that it’s not the best drill press out ther but since I couldn’t figure out what I wanted in a table I decided to spend the $45 or so to try this one and use it for a while to figure out what I want in a drill press table. Plus, the hardware that comes with this table would have cost a bit if I’d bought it separately. I figured if nothing else I’d at least have s...

Grizzly H3051 Riser Block Kit (for G0555) but also fits Ridgid BS1400

Grizzly H3051 Riser Block Kit (for G0555) but also fits Ridgid BS1400

09-17-2011 01:00 PM by David Grimes | 18 comments »

I recently purchased and assembled a Ridgid 14” floor model bandsaw (the BS1400). I had also ordered and received the 6” riser kit from Grizzly that is made for their G0555 14” bandsaw, but also fits several of the other 14” bandsaws: Ridgid, Craftsman, Cummins, Summit, and others. It ran about $80 shipped, which is half what the Ridgid kit costs (if you can get one). This kit is rated 5 stars by 19 of 22 reviewers on Amazon, with the other three 4’s and 3...
