Mixed Opinion About This Bandsaw...

About 15 months ago I purchased my Grizzly GO555 bandsaw. After it arrived I unboxed it and put it together. I normally put the boxes of items I buy in a shed I built just to keep them in until the warranty expires, but one of my kids tossed the boxes out without my knowing it. As soon as had it all together I grabbed some scrap and fired the saw up with the anticipation of a 5 year old on Christmas day only to be a bit disappointed in how it operated. The blade lead was horrible to say th...

An Excellent Small Shop Unit

An Excellent Small Shop Unit

05-19-2016 10:12 PM by Wondermutt | 6 comments »

This is a non product spec hands on review. In a few words, dump your harbor freight 2up unit and get this unit. Here’s why: IT WORKS. Bether than I expected it to. I needed a portable DC. I have a stationary 2hp unit and it works great. What I don’t like is the continual failure of the dust collection bin level alarm and it’s real tall, so making it portable may prove difficult. I tried to make my old hf 2hp unit with a super dust deputy portable, but again, not...

A Great New Addition To My Shop

A Great New Addition To My Shop

Manufacturer: Grizzly Industrial, Inc.Model: Grizzly G0513P – 17” 2 HP Bandsaw, Polar Bear SeriesModel: Shop Fox G7314Z – Heavy-Duty Mobile BaseCost: $895 and $74.95 Overview First a note about this “review”. This is more of an informational post, not so much of a review as I have not owned a bandsaw before, and therefore have nothing to compare it to. Having a bandsaw in the shop opens a completely new avenue of possibilities in the way wood is cut: ev...

Smaller Shop Drum Sander

Smaller Shop Drum Sander

I got this as a time saver for me when sanding production parts. It works great for a smaller drum sander. Only two reasons I can’t give it five stars. The stand is way to short. But easy fix is just to add riser blocks between the stand and sander. The second is I really wish that they had made this sander big enough to open up to 3 1/2 inches to sand post sides. It only opens to about 3”.

Happy Camper No. 2,17685 (give or take a few)

Happy Camper No. 2,17685 (give or take a few)

I’ve primarily used this for mortised and tenoned frame corners for a kitchen (cuts done with the styles and rails at ninety degrees to the table) and splined corners (cuts done with frame corners at twenty-two and a half to forty-five degrees to the table). The results are, I am very pleased with my purchase. This is a lot of jig for the money. Just lifting it makes clear the fact it’s not a toy. I believe this tenon jig will provide years of service. Though another reviewe...

Grizzly G0771 Table Saw Review

Grizzly G0771 Table Saw Review

02-05-2016 04:22 PM by Kristian_S | 9 comments »

Thanks to everyone for their advice regarding my table saw choice. Now that I have it set up, I thought I’d share my observations and experience with it, hopefully this will help someone in their choice. Delivery was reasonably quick (to CA), I purchased liftgate service and they brought the pallet into my garage for me. I feel sorry for whoever was receiving the pallet of Apple desktops I saw in the truck, a tall heavy package had toppled over and pierced about three of the boxes… SE...

I finally made a decision on a saw.

I finally made a decision on a saw.

As a few of you know I have been on the fence so to speak on getting a new saw for some time now. I read and read and read on which one to get. I had it narrowed down to this and a Sawstop. We all know about the great safety features on the SS. They also build a great saw. However I finally made a decision on the Grizzly G0690 3hp 220 volt with the cast iron router table extension. I have a small shop so the router table is a no brainer for me. Money was somewhat a consideration although ...

Grizzly G0771 Comprehensive Guide

Grizzly G0771 Comprehensive Guide

I got my Grizzly G0771 Table Saw in May 2015 and have been documenting my journey with it on YouTube ever since. If you are interested in what this saw has to offer, check out my videos below: UnboxingUnboxing of my new Grizzly G0771 table saw. This is a huge upgrade for my shop. Up until this point I have been using a portable Craftsman table saw that was adequate for construction, but lacking many features of even the most basic contractor saws, let alone hybrid saws such as this one. ...

1st. Opinion of grizzly 4 jaw chuck H6267 vicmark (vm100 copy)

1st. Opinion of grizzly 4 jaw chuck H6267 vicmark (vm100 copy)

So this is my early opinion of this grizzly chuck. Mine is the H6267 and has the 1 1/4”X 8tpi adapter included. This chuck is sold under several different part numbers, based on what adapter you need.I had read that it was a close enough copy to the vicmarc vm100, and that the vicmarc jaws would fit it.This grizzly chuck is about half the cost of the vicmarc at $120.00. I have used the chuck 4 or 5 times now with the dove tail jaws that came with it.The chuck does feel a little clunk...

Grizzly “G0636X – 17 Inch Ultimate” Bandsaw Review

Grizzly “G0636X – 17 Inch Ultimate” Bandsaw Review

01-04-2016 02:42 AM by JBrow | 20 comments »

The first post to Lumberjocks was this review, which I posted in the Forum, Under Tools etc. It was recommended that I re-post this review in the Review section of Lumberjocks. Purchase. I have been woodworking as a hobby since 1985, but never owned a bandsaw – until now. Previously, I re-sawed on the table saw and used the jig saw & router for curved cuts. Before making my bandsaw purchase, I saved my money and researched bandsaws. I considered 14” to 19” bandsaws from every manufact...
