Recently got this sander from Grizzly, I realize that it is a sander that has various brand names attached to it so shop around and get your best deal. Prior to this I was using my drill press with different sized drums, there is no comparison between the two. Like anything you can spend as much or as little as you wish. This model more than meets my needs. I built a stand on wheels to move it around on and put a large drawer to hold all my sanding drums etc. etc. The sander came with 80 Grit...

Off to a rocky start S&H

First of all, I love this machine. It’s been great, had it since Christmas. But it didn’t start off that way. I’ve had a few problems right from the start. As you can see from the first picture it’s a beautiful saw, just doesn’t have the Fence installed. Thats because it was shipped with the fence for a G0771. Worked with Grizzly support and let them know of the shipping mishap and they took care of it without a problem. I also found a few other problems; ...

Grizzly T27417 Oscillating Belt/Spindle Sander - Part 2

Grizzly T27417 Oscillating Belt/Spindle Sander - Part 2

Since the two are so similar, it is inevitable that there will be comparisons between the Ridgid EB4424 and the Grizzly T27417. But the two products are quite different. Some of the most obvious differences were covered in the first part of this review. The table on the Grizzly unit is smaller and the whole package has a much smaller footprint (16 1/2” X 18 1/2” as opposed to the Ridgid’s 19 1/4” X 23 1/2”). Because of this, I think the Ridgid on-board storage is better organized – there ...

Grizzly T27417 Oscillating Belt/Spindle Sander - Part 1

I have wanted a spindle sander in my shop for some time now. For the last year or two, I had my eye on the Ridgid EB4424 belt/spindle sander but reviews just haven’t been kind to this product. Yes, there are many magazine reviews praising this product and positive reviews by satisfied users but there are also lots and lots of sad tales (including right here on LJ here and here ) that seemed to point to severe quality control issues. In addition, like many other companies, it seems that Ri...

There IS a learning curve, and it does have some limitations that can be overcome

This is a copy/paste of the review I wrote on this system on Amazon with a very few changes/updates. (Kind of an Amazon review junkie) I finally popped for a wet stone water system, after doing the high speed grinding thing with both 8” grinders and a large Harbor Freight unit, then went to the variable speed grinder with the Wolverine jig system for my lathe tools. Good, but not scary sharp and they still dulled fast on hard wood. I needed something that would put a world-class edge...

Grizzly G0771Z Hybrid Saw

Grizzly G0771Z Hybrid Saw

Well, I’ve had the saw for going on a month but have not been able to use it. The saw arrived safely and the driver kindly brought it into my garage…had to tip him(great attitude). The assembly went smoothly, nothing too difficult. I had to shim one of the wings; everything was in my acceptable tolerance. The fit and finish was ok in most areas. The wings were grinded differently than the main tabletop which looked a bit cheap but I figured I can live with that. Everythin...

This Saw is GREAT !!

Got this saw last year. I was worried about the delivery and got the lift gate service from Grizzly. The saw came on UPS Freight. They called and made an appointment for delivery. They came with a lift gate trailer, they driver dropped the pallet at the curb, eazy peazy. I broke the pallet down and carried everything inside a piece at a time. Then put the body of the saw on my hand truck and into my shop everything went. I assembled the saw by myself. Had to shim the cast iron wings ...

I love this jointer

I love this Grizzly Jointer. I have a small shop and the size of this machine is perfect. The spiral cutter – head is worth every penny. I gave 4 stars because, I requested the lift gate service. UPS Freight called me and scheduled an appointment at their convenience for delivery. I scheduled time off work to make the appointment time UPS Freight requested and then UPS Freight blew me off. No call, no notification, no call to reschedule, nothing. UPS freight never showed up. ...

I just got my Grizzly G0715P delivered on Friday. Lift gate service dropped it right at my shop door. pulled the saw and smaller pallet off of the delivery pallet and into the shop with my fridge dolly. Not too much trouble.Got to it on Sunday to begin set up. took about an hour to get it onto the Shop Fox mobile base. No helper available…. Everything was going just fine until I tried to install the rear rail to the table for the fence. It has 4 bolts to do this talk, two M10-1.5&...

Decisions, decisions...

Decisions, decisions...

I recently decided to upgrade my table saw. The JET 10” hybrid saw I bought new about 17 years ago has served me well, but I wanted to take advantage of some of the advancements in table saw design that have occurred since then. There were two major developments in table saws that I was adamant about having on my new saw. The first was a riving knife. Not merely a splitter, but a true riving knife that raises, lowers, and tilts with the blade. Back when I bought my JET, riving knives wer...
