Surprising performance for a cheap spray gun

Surprising performance for a cheap spray gun

Several months ago, I bought this hopper type spray gun at Harbor Freight. I intended to use it to finish a batch of unfinished oak furniture we bought, but I chickened out and finished it all by hand because I didn’t trust this sprayer. Normally sells for $20, I think I paid $16 on sale. I don’t have a high capacity compressor, just a small 3.7 SCFM shown in the last picture, but this little gun didn’t care. It would never work to paint a house or fence, but to have in t...

HOLY CRAP- Why pay $100+

HOLY CRAP- Why pay $100+

Gotta say I never had much luck with the Harbor Freight (central pnuematic) brad nailer. But after trying out the micro pin nailer, I may just give the brad nailer another shot. This is a great buy- one of MANY diamonds in the rough at Harbor Freight. Here’s the details.. First of all, I was surprised that it was not made of plastic. The body is all is cast metal like the more expensive ones, and it feels good and heavy in the hand. Not that this is a vital feature, but it distrac...

Basic, reliable workhorse, lacking finer features, but well worth the money.

A quick rundown of the Central Pneumatic 97526 23ga pnuematic pin nailer. For starters, this IS a Harbor Freight tool. And like most Harbor Freight stuff, it is lacking many of the more refined features of more expensive tools. But at a price of $22.99 minus a 20% coupon discount, you can walk into your shop with one of these, and a fatter wallet to boot! Air consumption was reasonable as my little 2 HP 8 gallon compressor (Central Pneumatic 95386 easily able to keep up with the air demand...

Low hit to the budget and shop footprint, not the best capacity.

Specs are pretty straight forward… Max working pressure 115PSI.Air delivery: 5 SCFM at 90 PSI, 6 SCFM at 40 PSI. Simply put, I have had it for over a year now, and run the snot out of this thing. It sufficiently runs all of my nailers, impact wrench, air ratchet, etc… As long as I keep in mind it has an 8 gallon tank, and don’t expect to not have to wait for the compressor to catch up with me it’s fine. This is not my first compressor, so I can compare it to 2...

Not exactly a fine woodworking tool, but it sure does drive nails!

I have now owned mine for about 6 months, and put it through plenty of hard paces. The good, the bad, and the ugly of it… The good…Purchase price $49.99 (had a GREAT coupon)...Drives a good variety of nail sizes.Safety works very well.Reasonable magazine capacity. The bad…Uses a LOT of air. My little HF compressor cycles a LOT when I use this thing.Shortest nails this will shoot 2-3/16”, would like to shoot 2” nails with it.Limited to 28 degree nails.Lack o...

Mind you, pnuematic nailers are honestly very simple tools as far as air tools go. The driver is simply a piston, with a simple connecting rod sort of arrangment. You would think that if a company is going to build a product that has a piston, a connecting rod, and motion, that there would be a wrist pin right? Well not in my first one. Now #2 is working great. It leaks a tiny bit of air, but that is my fault. I took the thing apart to inspect it and managed to tear one of the paper gaskets. ...

Harbor Freight Air Drill

Harbor Freight Air Drill

I reciently was at Harbor Freight and picked up a few goodies. I have been looking for a few air tools lately and since I have had good luck with Harbor Freight tools I figured to give them a shot. My first item was the 3/8” Reversible Air Drill With Keyed Chuck and Key 19.99, 5 cfm at 90 1700 rpm. Out of the box it looked great no packing grease to remove, packaged nicely in bubble wrap with instructions and a chuck key, no air fitting (would be nice if that was included). I have been ...

As you can tell I was looking for a few air tools. This little guy is awsome. Tons of torque, drives 3” screws like mad. I can drive about 25 before my compressor kicks in Runs at 4 cfm at 90 psi. Great preformance forward and reverse. The direction selector is conviently located. Again no air fitting included. At 19.99 can’t go wrong, and a one year warentee. Nice fit and finish and great packaging.

Compact Air Die Grinder Kit

Compact Air Die Grinder Kit

I was looking for a die grinder, and came across this little one 1/4 and 1/8 collets. This is an outstanding little grinder for the money 14.99. Lots of torque. It did not bog down when using a power rasp to remove stock from a piece of oak. At 4 cfm at 90, and 21,000 rpm it has tons of power. Fits the hand well and does exactly what I want it to do. Fit and finish is great. Again no air fittings. Another Harbor Freight tool I would recommend.

Air Screwdrver

Another jem I picked up at Harbor Freight, this little inline air screwdriver really works well. 6 cfm at 90 psi, this little guy is an impact driver and really drives the screws home. Quick release chuck accepts standard hex drive bits. Another 19.99 Gem I highly recommend. Like most air tools from Harbor Freight no air fitting was included. Packaging was great and again has the 1 year warentee. Finish is suprisingly good. Fits the hand well and has ample power in forward or reverse.
