Best sander I have ever used

Best sander I have ever used

This is truly a 5 star sander (unfortunately with a 5 star price to boot). I’ve always been an ROS guy but never able to get a mirror smooth finish without some hand touch-up in certain areas. This sander delivers! The Good Overall Construction This sander is well built. It’s heavy, yet ergonomically pleasing. The front handle comes off if need be. It is solid, quiet, and vibration free. It comes with a dust port fitting, or a dust collection tube with a filter inside (that ...

Bosch CS10 Circular Saw

Bosch CS10 Circular Saw

This is a review on Bosch’s CS10 circ. saw w.r.t. a major design flaw, IMO, that I felt was significant enough to post here, so others don’t waste their time and money on this product. So this is not an in-depth review of using the saw over a 6 month period. Basically I first chose to buy this saw because it is often on sale for $99. at a lot of big box/hardware stores, plus on a lot of carpentry website forums many have noted Bosch’s durability and reliability (almost alway...

It's a good saw for it's intended use.

It's a good saw for it's intended use.

Ok, I bought one of these. It was a temporary saw and never intended to be my main saw. It is has a certain cool factor to it too. I think this is a great saw for a person who does floor installs and other small on the job carpentry work. All of the accessories are easy to access and held in place quite well. The fence worked, it came with a push stick and a miter but lets face it, a miter fence on most saws is not a top line item and it’s true in this case too. I originally bought this ...

Does Not Compare To Dewalt

Does Not Compare To Dewalt

The 1617 has rave reviews, so I thought I might give it a try. The base is tricky to release, because you have to align the tabs, then twist the router together. The old version had a magnesium motor case, but this is the newer version with an aluminum motor case. I played with both versions at the store, and the aluminum version is an improvement, but not as smooth or easy to operate as my Dewalt 618. The switch is known to fail frequently, and mine works intermittently. I guess the r...

Great Tool .. Very powerful but easy to master

Great Tool .. Very powerful but easy to master

I purchased this planner as a impulse buy from the Bosch -CPO website. When it came in I put the box on a shelf somewhere, and felt guilty. Then, I got a real good deal on rough lumber, so I had to take it out of the box. the tool impressed me with its rock solid feel, this no toy, this tool means business. The first few tries were not so good, but I started to get reasonable results in a few days. My skill at using the tool improved rapidly, the trick is keep the little arrows pointe...

Combo model # CLPK27-120Driver model # PS30BImpact model # PS40B12 volt lithium ion batteries. 30 minute charger. I have been using these for the past 3 days in my day job and in the shop. No problems at all. The main reason I went with these as they are lighter than the 18v combo sets. Here is my video review. Pros:lightcheapstrongLED lightbattery indicator on impact Cons:none so far

bosch router 1617evs router

bosch router 1617evs router

I recently acquired a Bosch router, the variable speed 2 1/4 hp 1617. It is day and night compared to my old Ryobi. First, it comes in a massive blue case with ample room for the router motor, fixed base and plunge base as well as accessories. It comes with the 1/4 and 1/2” collets, a set of wrenches, a manual and a special wrench to adjust the plunge base from above the table. You can adjust the speed from 8000 to 25000 rpm by turning a dial. It is also variable speed and will eas...

Great ROS

Great ROS

08-24-2012 11:12 PM by PittsburghTim | 7 comments »

I purchased this sander over six months ago and am certain that it’s the best ROS that I have ever used. It’s much easier to handle than the older Porter Cable unit that I have borrowed from my father in the past and is light years ahead of the 5” Dewalt that I own in finish, stock removal, and dust collection. It can remove material fast with the heavier grits and leaves a fine finsh as you work up to 240 or 320. The cannister filter that came with it worked very well. ...

Older Jigsaw

Older Jigsaw

06-21-2012 03:59 AM by Bob Kollman | 23 comments »

I bought this jigsaw about 3 months ago. The model is no longer available new, but after visiting 5 stores I was able to find this older model on display. I wanted the 1590evsk, because there have been so many reviews done on this model I knew it would meet my needs. As you see in the picture I bought a couple blades to go with the saw. This guy on e=bay puts up 89 blades a week on e=bay auction and I bought all these blades for 65 bucks. I even got a blade for cutting leather and rubber. ...

Bosch ROS10

Bosch ROS10

06-16-2012 12:37 AM by rasp | 4 comments »

I purchased this sander at Busy Bee Tools for 49.99 on sale. I thought that was a pretty good deal at the time, and I felt Bosch had a solid reputation. I had bought this sander in late summer of 2009 before attending college. We had a few at the kitchen shop I worked in, and it was my favourite over the DeWalt sanders. They had about 15-20 DeWalt ROS’ in a milk crate for parts, but nobody ever spent any time to condense the broken pieces into working sanders, so it goes. I have u...
