A Long Enough Cord and I can Log the World

A Long Enough Cord and I can Log the World

This is a well built electric saw. That fact became evident the time I first picked it up, when I noted it weighs, probably, twice what any of my previous three electric saws weighed. It feels like and appears to be built using the same standards Makita and the other big name companies apply in the construction of their heavy duty, commercial worm drive circular saws. Installing and removing the bar, or adjusting the chain during use, is as simple as it gets. It requires no tools. I was le...

A Saw For a Lifetime, Even for Proffessionals

A Saw For a Lifetime, Even for Proffessionals

For reference, this is my third Bosch saber saw. I bought my first one over twenty years ago. Before it, I bought “high end” B &D’s and others touted as professional quality. They all died within six months of heavy use. In contrast, I sold my first Bosch to my brother seven years after I bought it, when I upgraded [to the first model not requiring a screw driver for blade changes]. My first Bosch was a barrel and was bought by mistake. I had never used one before. A ...

I Just Can't Say Enough Bad About This Sander

I Just Can't Say Enough Bad About This Sander

Let me make it clear up front, I am a huge fan of Bosch tools and own several, including a sliding miter, a job site table saw with a gravity base, hammer drills, a saber saw and a trim router. I am pleased with all of them and made that clear in my reviews I have written about Bosch equipment. But, then there is this little tool. Of course, for a sander to work, you, first, have to mount sandpaper on it. This tool allows that. You just shouldn’t turn the sander on and expect it to h...

Bosch Colt router has collet problems.

Bosch Colt router has collet problems.

I thought I would add to this review due to some of the replies I have received. Every time I operated the tool I experienced an issue with either the fence vibrating loose or the bit vibrating loose. Every time I operated the tool means maybe 7 or 8 times total. It appears to me some people think “every time” to mean 150 or 500 times or whatever they want it to mean. When purchased this tool was meant to go on a cnc router build I was going to do so other than looking it over ...

BOSCH Glide Saw, Up For Review

BOSCH Glide Saw, Up For Review

The BOSCH GCM12SD dual bevel glide saw is a remarkable tool that takes accuracy and ease of use to a new level. Now that I’ve completely let the cat out of the bag that I like this tool, lets see why. The most obvious features are the upfront controls and the super smooooooth axial glide that BOSCH has engineered and patented. These upfront controls not only allow for rotating the table, but also make it possible to tilt the blade left to right. Yes, that means you no longer have ...

Review of Bosch 4100-09 saw and stand

Review of Bosch 4100-09 saw and stand

PLEASE EXCUSE THE PICTURE, LUMBER JOCKS REQUIRED ONE. I AM AWAY FROM HOME AND COULDN’t RUN OUT TO THE GARAGE TO SNAP A SHOT. I am writing a review of my Bosch saw after a few months of use. I bought this saw last November after my Ryobi saw up and died during a project. I looked at several saws in the $600-$800 range and narrowed it down to four options. The Bosch and DeWalt jobsite saws, and the Delta and Ridgid contractor saws. My requirements were in a realativly compact saw th...

This is a serious jigsaw!

This is a serious jigsaw!

I just purchaced this saw from Amazon on my Prime membership because my wife wanted some arts and craft projects cut out. They were about 16” x 20” and are going to be painted to look like a Mason Jar. I used 5mm birch ply. I was able to cut two at a time and the saw didn’t even know it was cutting anything. However a 10mm thickness in a pretty tight inside radius was a little too much for the Bosch 20 tooth Xtra-clean blade. I turned it a nice blue oxide color. Oops. ...

Awesome Vibration Dampening

Awesome Vibration Dampening

02-12-2015 07:57 PM by CypressAndPine | 6 comments »

I’ll start by saying that I don’t notice much difference in the sanding ability of the 3 different orbital sanders I’ve owned. First was a cheap pawn shop Porter Cable, second was a cheap new Dewalt, and now this very expensive Bosch. All of them sand wood very close to equal. However there are two huge differences I will state: 1. VIBRATION: I’m an offshore electrician and I have every nerve, tissue, bone issue you could think of in my hands and lower arms. My o...

Excellent fit/finish and ergonomics, but feels underpowered

Excellent fit/finish and ergonomics, but feels underpowered

I bought this sander (actually the Bosch20VSC with the only difference being a canvas bag vs the hard case) on a whim during Home Depot’s clearance of sanders. My rationale for purchasing this sander, was to have a speed sander and to devote separate 5” ROS sanders to different grits of sandpaper. In addition, for the price I paid for it (about $30), I figured I have very little to lose. Good: Overall impression, is that the sander has an excellent fit and finish and stellar ...

Perfect for beginning but will want for more

Perfect for beginning but will want for more

When i was just starting out woodworking i didnt know anything about tools. I went to school for engineering and did mostly metal working. From this i knew i didnt want a tiny little tool that wouldnt work worth a darn and to make sure that the model i bought was common enough to get parts and accessories. After searching google for table saw review and beginner table saw i found the bosch 4100-09. It was just what i thought would be perfect. A portable table saw for moving apartments. It ran...
