Hello Lumberjocks,Just received and set up my new Steel City 10 inch cabinet saw with riving knives.A couple other Steel City saws have been reviewed recently, I’ll try to limit myself to what I observed and try not to repeat too much of what the other guys had to say.BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: I love this saw. It was a major investment. I spent many months spread over several years researching cabinet saws. I’ve waited until I believe I won’t have to move this saw for the fo...

Why I didn't end up getting this one

Why I didn't end up getting this one

For lack of current online info on this saw, I thought someone might be of use to the bits of info I’ve been able to get on this saw after contacting SteelCity (which knows no details on this saw yet) and going to Woodcraft and seeing it live – which was very dissapointing. The first disappointment was when I saw the photo that woodcraft posted of this new saw which was completely different then what Steelcity had posted in their ‘upcoming new products’ flyer. I had...

Nice Jointer, But Keep Dreaming.....

Well, I ordered my Steel City 8” Granite Deluxe Jointer with Helical Head back in the beginning of August… The guy a the shop I deal with said it would be a 3-4 week wait to get one, well.. 3-4 weeks later.. still didnt’ have it.. then it was two weeks, then two more weeks, then it’s on the boat, should be another two weeks, well.. it’s been 3 months since I ordered it, checked back in, and final answer, there should be one at the tool show, and you can have that...

Well I’ve had the saw for almost 6 months now so I thought that it was finally time to get around to the review.I have been saving for my “first” table saw for several years now and finally had the money to get almost any one that I wanted. My first inclination was to go with a Powermatic. For the most part I have seen very few negatives when reading reviews from other buyers/ owners. The big issue was the $$$ even though I had saved enough. The question was go with the Powe...

Just another offshore replica?

Just another offshore replica?

DisclaimerI’ll preface my review with a warning to prospective readers that I can be obsessive about details and my day job entails finding design flaws. This review will be long. If you’re interested in purchasing this saw, you may find value in pouring over the details. Otherwise, you’ll likely be bored out of your mind. In the beginning it was the 50100…The bandsaw buying process was a very long and arduous one for me. I’ve always felt that the newer Europe...

Nice Saw

Nice Saw

I bought a Steel City 35670 tablesaw a couple of weeks ago and have been able to play with it some. Here are a few of my thoughts. PackagingI picked up the saw at Woodcraft in a small pickup truck. They loaded with a forklift as it is over 400 pounds. There were also a couple of other boxes that contained the fence. When I got it home, four people where able to slide it back and lower it to the ground. I then took off the cardboard and the found a square channel welded steel frame ins...

My wife is jealous

Deciding that I wanted to purchase a saw with a designed-in riving knife was the easy part. Finding one that was available was a totally different story until a week ago. My decision criteria: Riving Knife; Price < $2000; Power > 1.5 HP; Dust Collection; Step up from a contractor saw My selection. This was the easy part. After stopping by the local Woodcraft and seeing the quality fence and other design features of Steel City made them a shoe in for the top choice. And they had a...

Saw Overview:Well, I decided it was time to purchase a new tablesaw. After quite a bit of research, budgeting, and window shopping I decided to go with the Steel City granite top saw. Since I only have 120 VAC power, I went with the 1.75 HP version. I have called Steel City several time and received excellent customer service as you will see as this review continues. Anyway, I asked Steel City if there were any structural differences between the 1.75 and 3 HP models and was told that they are...

Steel City 6" Riser for bandsaw

Steel City 6" Riser for bandsaw

631 days ago by GaryK | 19 comments »

Here is the 6” riser kit parts for the bandsaw. The installation is fairly simple. This is a “must have” addition if you plan on doing any resawing. It gives you an additional 6” height for resawing extra wide boards. It works great! It increases the length of blade needed from 93 1/2” to 105”. The same as a Delta Bandsaw. ..First remove one big bolt with w 30mm socket wrench. and set the top half aside...Then install the riser block and the two dow...
