Bought the Steel City Mortiser today on the way home from work. link to tool store Mueller
Assembly, no problems … intuitive design
Came with 4 bits and chisels. Black and white, printed boxes exactlly the same as came with my old Delta.
Pros: Fence looks real good. Nice design. Fine adjustment knob is a plus. Worked good.Big table base , easy to fasten to work bench. Very stable.Pull out, cast iron table extensions go to about 36 inches. Solid fit.I thought the $289 price was ...

Just bought this yesterday at the local Woodcraft (good folks here)
With the exception of the the four bolts that hold the blower assy to the frame, assembly was rather uneventful.
After assembly I immediately put the collector to use attached to my table saw and it seemed to work “ok”, not great. Even though I was using a zero clearance insert, a good amount of dust managed to escape from every nook and cranny from the cabinet. The collection only seems to be marginally b...

Deciding that I wanted to purchase a saw with a designed-in riving knife was the easy part. Finding one that was available was a totally different story until a week ago.
My decision criteria: Riving Knife; Price < $2000; Power > 1.5 HP; Dust Collection; Step up from a contractor saw
My selection. This was the easy part. After stopping by the local Woodcraft and seeing the quality fence and other design features of Steel City made them a shoe in for the top choice. And they had a...

Now mind you I have only had this machine for 1 month .and my shop is small, no planer to fill the bags ..but i love it so far …At 1.5 HP the power is terrific. The noise level rated in the book is 87db and actually it seems less when i run it …I did opt for the Shop Fox remote as it seems when ever I want to turn on my DC system I am on the other side of the room …so with 2 remotes …i attached to a stick and earth magnet on the back i can hang one from my bandsaw and...

I purchased this at the March Woodworking Show in Chantilly, VA. I had been looking for a jointer for some time. At one point this was listed for $999 but since they have decided to drop this from their line, I picked it up for $499 with an extra set of knives thrown in the deal.
The equipment was picked up at the show (Skarie was the distributer) and came in two boxes. One is the cabinet the other the jointer bed assembly. The boxes showed no damage so I felt fairly certain that everythin...

Here is the 6” riser kit parts for the bandsaw. The installation is fairly simple. This is a “must have” addition if you plan on doing any resawing.
It gives you an additional 6” height for resawing extra wide boards. It works great!
It increases the length of blade needed from 93 1/2” to 105”. The same as a Delta Bandsaw.
..First remove one big bolt with w 30mm socket wrench. and set the top half aside...Then install the riser block and the two dow...

I purchased this at the Baltimore Woodworking Show recently. I was in the market for one (cough, cough, wheeze ? ) and was looking at both the Delta and the Steel City. They had received the best reviews so I thought I would look at them first hand. The found that the both machines were fairly comparable in statics but the Steel City came at a better price; I picked it up for $320 including tax which was about $40 less than the Delta.
I do like the 1 micron bag that comes standard. I also ...

I was looking for a drill press with a long quill travel and found it in the Steel City 17” drill press. At 6” it has the longest quill travel that I could find in its price range. It was a little more expensive than the comparable models, but I got it at a show and with the $75 dollar rebate at the time it brought it to within dollars of the competition. With all other specifications being similar, the quill travel was what sold me.
It probably isn’t any secret why it...

I bought this saw from Redmond & Son in Atlanta. I wanted to upgrade from my ¾ HP Jet and after looking at the features, I was sold. The price was $699 and I added the Kreg fence for another $100. They forklifted it into my truck, but it was fairly easy to unload by myself.
The saw comes in two boxes. The first thing I did was open the manual with the intention of spending the next hour deciphering the instructions, because I have a lot of power tools and “been there, done that” wi...
