MasterForce 12" Drill Press

MasterForce 12" Drill Press

Full disclosure first: I have always been a little leery of private label brands (like the ‘MasterForce’ label at Menards). I know these are Asian knock-offs, and the quality may not measure up to the major tool brands. That being said, the need for a drill press with a longer quill travel and the sale price at Menards ($179.00) combined to tip the scale and I made the purchase last week. I had a bunch of pen blanks to drill for a Freedom Pens project, and doing them with my...

Ryobi AP1300 Planner and Masterforce Planer Blades

Ryobi AP1300 Planner and Masterforce Planer Blades

01-15-2012 05:38 AM by Raymond | 13 comments »

I needed new planer blades for my Ryobi AP 1300 planer. Problem is Home Depot does not cary this planer any longer, the only source is Ryobi directly (expensive) or Home Depot online (back ordered with no estimated delivery date. Or order them from online vendor. I was in Menards looking at tools, and looked at there planer blades, to my suprise I see a 13” set of blades for a Masterforce 3 blade planer. I went home and got my Ryobi blade and to my suprise they are an exact replacement....

MASTERFORCE 18" Scroll Saw with Rotary Attachment

MASTERFORCE 18" Scroll Saw with Rotary Attachment

The other day I went to use my trusty Wilton Scroll Saw, went to turn it on and nothing…After checking the usual. Yes it was plugged iin. My nose told me something was wrong. There was that smell we all know, the smell of a burnt controller board. And yes it was toast. So off to Menards to get a replacement one. When what do I see but this Masterforce 18” Scroll Saw. So after poking and prodding it I load up my cart and off to home I go. The saw seams built very rugged it’s ...

Good saw for a good price

Good saw for a good price

Over the weekend I picked up a new miter saw. I had previously been using a 10 year old Delta 10” single bevel miter saw with an Irwin arbor mounted laser. No knocks against the Delta, it has erved me well but I wanted the larger crosscut capacity and a higher fence. I read every review I could find from this and other websites, and also went and kicked the tires at various stores. I decided on the masterforce because it is virtually identical to the Craftsman Professional 12” sl...

Professional Miter Saw Stand - Great tool stand and very flexible

Professional Miter Saw Stand - Great tool stand and very flexible

I purchased this Miter Saw Stand after researching many other stands at Menards and Home Depot. I acquired the unit in April 2009 for $149.99 when it was on sale (normally $189.99) and I have found it a great product. A few months after buying it Menards had it on sale for $129.99 which would have made it an even greater stand. I have two miter saws (a regular 10” stationary and a 10” sliding miter) and wanted a stand that I could mount lboth saws on side-by-side. To do this...

Heavy duty and great price.

Heavy duty and great price.

I purchased this work stand for my 10” Craftsman Radial Arm Saw. I needed something in the garage that could carry the weight, not bend or torque under heavy lumber, and be transportable to job sites (mainly my back yard projects). I purchased this in November 2009 after being impressed with the Master Force Miter Saw Stand I reviewed. I gave this unit 4 stars because I have only used it a few times, and it probably should be a 4.5. Here is what I like: 1. It is heavy and stu...

Masterforce 12" Drill Press Review

Masterforce 12" Drill Press Review

I had bought some windows through menards while they were having an 11% rebate promo going on. When the rebate arrived I decided I was going to buy a drill press with it. Out of all the drill presses that Menards carries this one seemed like the best one to me. The only other options were Performax and Tool Shop. So far it has done everything I need it to do. I especially like how you do not have to change belts to change the speed. The light is a nice feature and the laser helps get ...

Great Drill Press for the Hobbiest

Great Drill Press for the Hobbiest

After doing plenty of research, as usual, I decided that the Masterforce drill press sold by Menard’s would be the best for me. They went for $200 when I pulled the trigger just over a year ago, but the price has gone up to $230 in most stores. I got an 11% rebate on mine, and shortly after they went on sale for $180 (my luck). If you’re ready to buy a mid-sized drill press, don’t let the store-brand scare you away—Masterforce is on par with Home Depot’s Ridgid b...

Good bandsaw for a small shop

Good bandsaw for a small shop

06-07-2014 09:07 PM by MoshupTrail | 14 comments »

I wanted a small bandsaw to cut some curved parts from time to time. When I saw this one at Menards for just $229 it just had a look of being solid and the right thing for my small garage shop. The table is cast iron, and the housing is heavy duty steel and the motor appears to be a sealed 1/2 hp motor. You can see the specs at Menards site. Assembly was pretty easy, but I did not choose to assemble the stand. The directions are pretty typical – you have to read carefully twice ...
