Craftsman Contractor TS

Got this saw new for Christmas. it replaced a smaller, direct drive Craftsman TS that I had had for a few years. The box is a monster, weighing in at a little over 275 ibs. You will need help (or some lumber to use as a ramp) getting it out of your vehicle. Once on the ground though, it moves around relatively easily (at least on my garage floor) since it is extremely well packed and a sturdy box. PACKAGINGThe top packaging slab is a polystyrene tray that contains 90% of the bits and p...

Nice "extra" saw to have on-hand

Nice "extra" saw to have on-hand

I was on the fence between 3 and 4 stars. I ultimately went with four because, in the end, the saw meets my needs and expectations. But it took a bit of work to get it there I work out of a one-car garage which I share with lawn care tools and my kids bikes, scooter, etc. Oh, and there is also a snap-on rollbox and a motorcycle in there somewhere too :) That said, I have to get creative with how I store my woodworking stuff which includes five floor machines, workbench, etc. Granted, m...

Craftsman Bar clamps

Craftsman Bar clamps

12-29-2012 08:18 AM by Bob Kollman | 1 comment »

I have been using the craftsman bar clamps for several years now. I have about 16 of the 24” clamps, 4 of the 36” clamps and 4 18” clamps. They all have worked with out fail. Over the years these clamps have been subject to above average abuse, I use them frequently and do not clean them as I should. They are study as I have dropped them a lot…and the best thing to note is there plastic handles…yes plastic, they are over sized and easy to grip and easy to ove...

Craftsman 11' magnetic scroll saw

Craftsman 11' magnetic scroll saw

This saw is a 1952 Craftsman magnetic scroll saw. It does not have a motor. It is an electromagnet that pulls and releases a spring steel plate that has the blade hook attached. It Has an upper spring steel arm holding the upper blade hook. It uses 5” pin end blades. The capacity is limited to about 1/2 inch or less. The saw has been modified and is now a 20”. It started life as an 11 inch saw. The modification was made when the saw was probably already 15+ years old. I c...

Craftsman C3 19.2-Volt Lithium-Ion Compact Drill DD2100 - Review

Craftsman C3 19.2-Volt Lithium-Ion Compact Drill DD2100 - Review

11-20-2012 03:37 PM by Daris | 7 comments »

I recently purchased a new Craftsman Power Drill DD2100 from Sears.  I’ve been using it for about three weeks now and I have to say so far, I have NO complaints.  In fact I think it’s as solid a drill as I’ve ever used.  The drill came as part of a kit, and I was able to pick it up for $109 (on sale) from Sears.  For the price I think it’s a great bargain.  I was able to replace my old 19.2 cadmium battery-powered drill with a new high-end one for about $100, and s...

A solid, quiet performer

A solid, quiet performer

Update 2/3/13- Still like the product. Sears sells tons of accessories at reasonable prices. I still haven’t found any downside to the vacuum. Highly rocommend## About 4 years ago, I bought a Shopvac from Lowes. I cant remember the specs, but it was 10 gallons or so and supposedly 4-5 HP. They were selling them on Black Friday for $40. I actually like the vacuum pretty well and felt it was a good value. So when Lowes had the same vac on sale the following year, I bought a...

Craftsman Universal Jig

Craftsman Universal Jig

Well I promised I wouldn’t buy something and post a review without using it… so much for that! I’m posting it because I bought it on clearance- 50% off. The cost was just under $16 bucks. So in case anyone wants to pick it up-i figured I’d post my initial impressions and hopefully there are some folks that have used one. I would have liked to have made my own jig, but for the price it was hard to beat. So far my initial impressions- 1. it’s made in Amer...

Craftsman 1/3 hp 3.5 amp 10" Band Saw (21400)

Craftsman 1/3 hp 3.5 amp 10" Band Saw (21400)

06-27-2012 11:43 AM by ShipWreck | 17 comments »

A friend of mine has the previous version of this machine with the 3’ depth instead of the 4 5/8” depth of this 21400 model. I have used his doing some curvy cuts on smaller projects and it performed very well. The wife had mentioned getting another bandsaw for the shop but I kept shrugging it off until I had the funds for a 17” later this year. When I saw this one go on sale at Sears I decided to take the plunge. This is the very same saw as the Rikon 10-305 but sells fo...
