Old belt disc sander but in great shape

Old belt disc sander but in great shape

01-22-2012 10:47 PM by ic3ss | 7 comments »

This is a Craigslist find that I picked up a while ago. It was made in mid-late 1970’s I believe. I had to do just a little cleaning up on it but it ran fine, but it has a lot of vibration. It’s heavy, cast iron everything above the stand, but it does vibrate a lot. The bearings seem smooth enough, I wonder if I just need to replace the belt. Oh well, I’ve been using it on a project I’m doing for my daughter for the last few weeks and it works fine. For as old as it is...

Craftsman C3 19.2-Volt Lithium-Ion Compact Drill DD2100 - Review

Craftsman C3 19.2-Volt Lithium-Ion Compact Drill DD2100 - Review

11-20-2012 03:37 PM by Daris | 7 comments »

I recently purchased a new Craftsman Power Drill DD2100 from Sears.  I’ve been using it for about three weeks now and I have to say so far, I have NO complaints.  In fact I think it’s as solid a drill as I’ve ever used.  The drill came as part of a kit, and I was able to pick it up for $109 (on sale) from Sears.  For the price I think it’s a great bargain.  I was able to replace my old 19.2 cadmium battery-powered drill with a new high-end one for about $100, and s...

I bought a Craftsman 14” BAS350 bandsaw a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to get a 14” bandsaw for my workshop. I am basically an aspiring hobbyist that likes to make furniture and other woodcraft. I don’t own a table saw nor do I plan to, so a bandsaw seemed like the next logical tool to add to the suite of tools. So after doing the standard bandsaw research I settled on the Craftsman. I picked the Craftsman for a few reasons:1. They had one in stock at the local Sear...

After 5 years it's still kicking

I own only two newer craftsman tools. One is a 4” grinder that has lasted me 4 years after makita’s and dewalts burned out after about a year each. Go figure. And this little compressor that has been stellar..I’ve been wanting to give this little compressor it’s due for some time now as I’ve had tons of experience with it. .This compressor is now rated at 1 hp. Mine was labeled 1.5 hp. I think though that they are the same item. The hp must have been reassessed o...

So-So Entry-Level Bandsaw

So-So Entry-Level Bandsaw

02-29-2008 09:17 AM by Hawgnutz | 6 comments »

This bandsaw looked really good on paper with bearing guides, 7” resaw capability, and “adjustable” fence. Well, after all that hype dissapeared, it turned out to be only a so-so machine! I am dissapointed and wished i had saved my money and bought a Jet, Rikkon, or even a Grizzly! Within 4 months of very sporadic use, one of the bearings siezed on me. (Thank God I bought the extended warranty!) The service tech ordered set for me, but it still has a funny sound when ...

Vintage Craftsman 1/3 Sheet Sander

Vintage Craftsman 1/3 Sheet Sander

06-11-2009 04:33 AM by dustbunny | 6 comments »

No longer available for purchase through Sears, this sander can still be had at yard sales, auctions, eBay, or your grandpa’s workshop. Since I totally dislike sanding as part of the woodworking experience, I have to say I love this sander. Once I established the fact that I had a stack of cutting boards that needed to be sanded and had built my downdraft table to ease my pain, my husband turned up with this sander. He held it out saying it belonged to his dad, and it was one of his ...

Nice "extra" saw to have on-hand

Nice "extra" saw to have on-hand

01-15-2013 04:13 AM by Tedstor | 6 comments »

I was on the fence between 3 and 4 stars. I ultimately went with four because, in the end, the saw meets my needs and expectations. But it took a bit of work to get it there I work out of a one-car garage which I share with lawn care tools and my kids bikes, scooter, etc. Oh, and there is also a snap-on rollbox and a motorcycle in there somewhere too :) That said, I have to get creative with how I store my woodworking stuff which includes five floor machines, workbench, etc. Granted, m...

16" Variable Speed Scroll Saw

16" Variable Speed Scroll Saw

This is a New addition to Craftsman Scroll Saw Series. The first one that I had, I’ve only used it twice, and if it wasn’t for the Replacement Warranty that I purchased just in case, I wouldn’t have this replacement now. So far, this Version of their Scroll Saw has Held up very well. There are only a few complaints with it thou. 1. The table is a Little Small2. The Table Tilt only tilts up to 45 Degree to the left Only, Not both left and right3. It does not hav...

Craftsman Digital Torpedo Level (part #948295)

Craftsman Digital Torpedo Level (part #948295)

Got this today at the local Sears store. Price was $34.99. Two (2) AAA batteries required and are not included. It comes in a nice zippered case. Warranty is one year. The unit is plastic (not necessarily fragile, but not a Sherman tank), so it will need to be treated like a multimeter, a moisture meter, a thermal leak detector, or your high dollar stud finder. Stated accuracy is +/- 0.1 degree. The unit also has bubble tubes, but after using this instrument digitally, I think mostly ...
