I wish I had this years ago

My wife got me a craftsman impact driver for my birthday a while back. I know some people like to pick on craftsman, but I already had their cordless drill and I wanted to stick with interchangeable batteries. I use the 19.2V Ni-Cds. I know a lot of people swear by the Li-Ion, but those cost a lot more money. Now I’ll be able to upgrade in the future if I want, but based on my experience so far, I have no plans to do so. This thing is AWESOME! I can drive a 3” screw into a...

Does it's Job for a Great Price

Does it's Job for a Great Price

I had been in the market for a combination belt/disc sander for quite some time and read as much as I could on all the various brands. I landed on the Craftsman one primarily for the attractive price (and the encouragement of my father-in-law who has had one for who knows how many years), however, comparing its specs to other competing sanders, in nearly every category it scored as good if not better. For starters, this sander is heavy at around 85 lbs, and so much so that I have not had ...

It retails for $19.99 but I got it on sale for $9.99. I would give it a 5 star rating! AJ

Nothing wrong here

Nothing wrong here

I realize biscuit joiners aren’t as popular as they once were. In fact, I don’t even use mine very often. I bought this Craftsman joiner a few years ago (2012?), and only just now feel as if I’ve used it enough to write a competent review. I originally bought it to help align a glue-up for a coffee table. I was pretty close to buying a Porter Cable joiner from a local pawn shop. Its was a solid looking tool, and seemed to be very well built. However, they wanted $175 for it....

Craftsman Drill guide

Craftsman Drill guide

01-22-2016 07:18 PM by hairy | 8 comments »

I used to buy a lot of Craftsman, then for a while I wouldn’t buy anything Craftsman. I probably would not have bought this, except that they were the only local retailer that had 1 in stock. I saw several online, but due to my poor planning I didn’t have time to wait for shipping. I needed it to drill holes into wall studs for floating shelves. I used 3/8” x 8” lag bolts to support the shelves. Once before I tried that without a drill guide. It did not end well. ...

A Lot of Value for the Money

A Lot of Value for the Money

This package comes with a lot. First as the product says, it has both a fixed base and a plunge base. It is 2 HP, plenty for most hobbyist, especially if used as a hand held router. I think the build quality is very good. I have not used it for a long time, but I certainly like it much better than the Craftsman router that I bought 12 years ago. The price is also very good. The website says regular price is $214, but I have NEVER see it for that much. The sale price online is $106, whi...

Good benchtop sander for many projects

Good benchtop sander for many projects

I used to own a smaller 4×36 bench-top sander with a 6-inch disc, but the belt and disc areas were just too small. This 6×48 inch version has the surface coverage I like (a 6×13.5 inch belt work platten, and the disc is a 9 incher) and I have used it a LOT to smooth a variety of wood surfaces. The belt is easy to replace, and although the unit is normally hooked up to my dusc collector (which is configured to just blow dust out into my natural-yard area) it actuall scavenge...

Craftsman 12" Sliding Miter

Craftsman 12" Sliding Miter

12-25-2009 08:55 AM by Bob Kollman | 7 comments »

This miter saw has been very good purchase, I made some compromises in order to have a sliding compound miter sooner rather than later. I choose this one because of price $230.00 (I think the regular price is like $330.00), and durability. When I looked at the display model, it was firm and square. The saw has all the power I need, and most of the time I’m using it for cross cuts, and simple 45’s and 22.5’s . Out of the box everything was squared up, I had to make a slight...

Craftsman jointer

Craftsman jointer

06-12-2016 10:50 PM by Spoctor | 7 comments »

I work at Sears and had walked by this jointer many times, noting its $229 price tag. I walked by it again the other day and saw that it was being closed out at a fraction of that price. I jumped. It had been on display for a good while. The blade guard had been broken off and the spring lost. The push blocks were also missing, but those are easy to replace. The safety key was missing from the power switch. Fortunately, three of my other power tools have keys that fit it.This jointer weights 5...
