Good benchtop sander for many projects

Good benchtop sander for many projects

10 days ago by ferstler | 0 comments »

I used to own a smaller 4×36 bench-top sander with a 6-inch disc, but the belt and disc areas were just too small. This 6×48 inch version has the surface coverage I like (a 6×13.5 inch belt work platten, and the disc is a 9 incher) and I have used it a LOT to smooth a variety of wood surfaces. The belt is easy to replace, and although the unit is normally hooked up to my dusc collector (which is configured to just blow dust out into my natural-yard area) it actuall scavenge...

16" Variable Speed Scroll Saw

16" Variable Speed Scroll Saw

This is a New addition to Craftsman Scroll Saw Series. The first one that I had, I’ve only used it twice, and if it wasn’t for the Replacement Warranty that I purchased just in case, I wouldn’t have this replacement now. So far, this Version of their Scroll Saw has Held up very well. There are only a few complaints with it thou. 1. The table is a Little Small2. The Table Tilt only tilts up to 45 Degree to the left Only, Not both left and right3. It does not hav...

Great deal for beginning woodworkers

Great deal for beginning woodworkers

This is a blade I was curious about for a long time and I can tell you that this blade is great. I was originally looking into the 40 tooth version of this because Wood magazine had rated it really great but this one just caught my eye because it has more teeth, better for crosscutting, and it has large gullets every five teeth for sawdust removal. This makes it great. I was worried that my “Under powered saw” couldn’t handle ripping with a 50 tooth blade but this thing has ...

A+ Router

A+ Router

155 days ago by Woodshopfreak | 2 comments »

This router is great, everything about it is just awesome. I use it in my router table for the most part and this thing is dead on accurate and is very fun to use. The 2 horsepower motor is plenty powerful to cut through even the hardest woods and it has many features that you can’t find on other routers or features that are on very high priced routers. I prefer using this router to the Porter Cable routers we used at school. The hand grips on Porter Cables are more like griping knobs t...

The spec’s are:Diameter: 3 in. Type: Circular saw Motor:Amps: 2.8 Speed Range RPM: 2800 rpm Product Overview:Main Handle Grip: Ergonomic soft grip Handles:Main Position: 3-position I bought this saw for rough cutting plywood sheets instead of having to lug out my full size saw. Because I seldom do this task, I didn’t want to buy a battery powered saw or one that was twice as expensive. The barrel grip is comfortable to hold but is a little awkward when reac...

Craftsman Professional 10inch Table Saw

Craftsman Professional 10inch Table Saw

I have always liked Craftsman brand tools..so when it came time to look for a table saw that is where I went. I caught this saw on sale and was able to spread the payments interest free over a year. Sale price was around $950. It lists for around $1100. The only thing I have added to it is a movable base. It is a very solid machine and took four guys to unload it from the trailer. It is a very strong smooth running saw. It came with a Biesemeyer fence system, which is a real gem. Nice h...

Good starter table.

Good starter table.

279 days ago by kshipp | 1 comment »

I got this router table as part of a combo with this router. My previous router table was all molded plastic and had a significant bow in the table making it useless. This table is nice for a starter table but it doesn’t have a lot of the high end features. The fence is very adjustable with the ability to move the out feed side independently and also slide the sides to cover the bit hole. There is a 2 1/2” dust extraction port on the back which I haven’t used because the ...

Nice router with excellent depth adjustment.

Nice router with excellent depth adjustment.

This is a really nice router. It has an all metal case which is a rarity among tools now and it just feels sturdy without being heavy. There are two removable shields for dust and chips and you can also put one in that has a 1” dust port. I just run this with the ShopVac hooked up to that dust port and almost none escapes because it’s completely sealed. It comes with both 1/4” and 1/2” collets so it’s nice for a variety of router bits. The base has 3 LED li...

Craftsman 12" Bandsaw

Craftsman 12" Bandsaw

This is everything you could expect from 12” saw. It is manufactured by the same factory that makes Rikon saws. It has good power, 3/4 horse; capacity, 7”; and can be adjusted to cut pretty straight. The guides work nice and can be adjusted up tight. The factory fence is junk. I built one to use with the factory front rail and it works just fine. I’m using a 1/2” 3 tooth blade and have my fence set for about 1/8” drift from front to back. The trunion can be adju...
