I bought a Craftsman 14” BAS350 bandsaw a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to get a 14” bandsaw for my workshop. I am basically an aspiring hobbyist that likes to make furniture and other woodcraft. I don’t own a table saw nor do I plan to, so a bandsaw seemed like the next logical tool to add to the suite of tools. So after doing the standard bandsaw research I settled on the Craftsman. I picked the Craftsman for a few reasons:1. They had one in stock at the local Sear...

Simple, cordless solution for quick nailing (heh heh heh)

Simple, cordless solution for quick nailing (heh heh heh)

NOTE: I know this isn’t a pneumatic nailer but there wasn’t an option for just nailers, nor was there an option for just cordless tools and I didn’t think it fell under “other” so … here we are. That said … for reasons completely unrelated to the product itself, this is the last Craftsman tool I’ll ever buy (I hate you, Sears; I hate you with every ounce of my soul and look forward to your eventual collapse) but man, is it a keeper. As alw...

Excellent Small Bandsaw

Excellent Small Bandsaw

01-25-2015 02:12 PM by OSU55 | 14 comments »

I kept running into situations where a bandsaw would have made a particular step in a project very easy vs trying to use a jigsaw. I researched bandsaws, with most of the info surrounding 14” and larger saws. There wasn’t a lot of info on smaller saws, and I didn’t give them a lot of thought. After some research I realized a smaller saw would do about all the things I had needed one for, have a smaller footprint, be a lot smaller expenditure, and if the smaller saw was any g...

Excellent Saw On a budget

Excellent Saw On a budget

Well what can I say, my wife bought me this saw for Christmas and she did an awesome job. I really like the size of the saw 10” is just what I need, also the Laser Trac system is extremely helpful. It came with a 10” 40tooth saw blade that does a great job, but if you are planning on doing detailed finished work I would get another blade. I built a mitre saw cart and all in all I couldn’t be happier./!

The perfect saw for my needs and space

The perfect saw for my needs and space

_First things first, my star rating reflects the saw’s use and value to me and my needs. So may be higher for me than it would be for you, and that’s perfectly fine. Also, the review is also coming from somebody still new to the hobby so may lack the technical details found in other reviews. You can get specs and more information at the Craftsman website The “centerpiece” to my tool collection and budding attempt at a workshop comes after a long and frustrating two ...

Excellent routers for the money (and in general for that matter)

Excellent routers for the money (and in general for that matter)

So I figured it was time to contribute to the review section of this site. Rather than review each router individually, I decided that since these share a lot of the same features, it might be a good idea to review them as a whole. I have four routers, all of which are current production models sold at Sears: 1) Craftsman Professional 14-amp, 2.5-hp Fixed/Plunge Base (in my router table)2) Craftsman 12-amp, 2-hp Fixed Base (for my dovetail jig)3) Craftsman 12.0 AMP/VS 2.0 HP Digital Plu...

Tool Review, Craftsman Contractor Saw 113.298763, Made 1996. I’ve had this saw since 2002, so I figure I’ve used it enough to write a fairly balanced and accurate review. I bought the saw from a good friend who was the first owner. I paid $225 for the saw, three Craftsman blades and some push sticks. He used it primarily to remodel his basement, and he did one heck of a job. I helped him quite a bit and learned a lot. This is my second table saw. My first was a direct drive Craftsman tha...

Craftsman 4-1/8" Bench Top Jointer/Planer Set UP

Craftsman 4-1/8" Bench Top Jointer/Planer Set UP

02-28-2014 07:55 PM by ca8920 | 5 comments »

I have a garage shop and a limited amount of space. I needed a jointer/planer for some upcoming projects so I chose the Craftsman 4-18” Bench Top Jointer/Planer. Not the best tool out there but not the worst. The little jointer works well and does a decent job once set up and shimmed. My complaint, the setup. While researching this tool I found multiple comments/complaints that the fence is too far from the blades, causing a small protrusion of wood on the work piece when you r...

New Craftsman 10" Table Saw 21833

New Craftsman 10" Table Saw 21833

I got this saw last weekend and I finally had a chance to put it together and I do have to say I am excited. I had an old craftsman little contractor saw with the weird miter slots and the underpowered motor, which wasn’t very accurate. This new saw, (after spending 6 hours assembling and aligning it, and help from 3 people to flip it over) work amazing. I get nice clean and accurate cuts, (with a new blade and not the one that it came with). The fence is solid and accurate with the ta...

Craftsman 10” Table Saw with Laser Trac® (21807) (In Canada – CRAFTSMAN®/MD Limited Edition 10’’ Table Saw with Stand – item 097 827 835 10) I’ve been meaning to type this up for a while but haven’t gotten around to it. After seeing another forum inquiring about a problem with the tablesaw I decided to stop slacking and get this done. The saw itself has decent power and will cut through 2 inches of hard maple without too much trouble as long as you go slow. It co...
