Wixey WR525 Remote Digital Readout

This is a great addition for your drill press. I first came across the wixey digital readout in an article in Woodsmith December 2008 No. 180 issue, and saved it in my drill press file. Then after agonizing over set ups for months I finally decided to buy the unit. The article does provide some basic ideas to attach components to you drill press. I have had it for several years and it has worked great. The only problem I had was operator error! The battery drains if you forget to...

Wixey WR 550 - Excellent addition to an old 15" Planer

Wixey WR 550 - Excellent addition to an old 15" Planer

I recently installed a Wixey WR 550 digital readout to a 20 year old Bridgewood BW15P 15” planer. I purchased it from Amazon for $79 dollars. The contents were well packed in the box. The reason I purchased this readout was due to the various options for installation on a machine. With my planer being so old, I wasn’t sure if I could find a digital readout for it. The installation took about 20 minutes, with most of the time determining where the best place to install it wa...

i got this digital protractor for christmas and since i got it i have used it for everything! to adjust my squares, set up tools, check glue ups! it is just a great little tool. so much for burning on the table saw for crosscuts. i found that my good square was 89.9 and thats why i was getting burning. once adjusting it to 90 with the wixey no burning at all! its just wonderful and it helps a lot too. also there are magnets on it that help in tool setup because it attracts to the blade and mi...

I had some extra money from Christmas gifts and I wanted to splurge on something I didn’t need but knew that I would love to have. This table saw fence gauge is great. I can zero it whenever I want with different blades, dado stacks and even on my router wing. I think it’s great I can make routered dados and accurate distances without much thinking. You can switch between absolute measurements (from zero with blade) to short term measurements if you just wanted to cut 1”...

Wixey Digital Planer Readout with Fractions Model WR510Bought from Amazon: $58.99 This readout is designed for portable planers, see below for this custom installation. The angled display, and auto shut-off are nice features.Love the fraction measurements. Accuracy is: fractions=1/32, decimal=.005in(~1/128). It is great to set the machine to get a 9/16” cut. I also really like the calibration feature. Once calibrated it will show the exact dimension of the planed board. C...

A great little tool

A great little tool

Here’s a great little tool for setting the angle on most everything. Bandsaw, Tablesaw, Mitersaw, Radial Arm Saw… The best part is the precision and speed in which you can do it.There are magnets on the bottom which allows you to stick it to anything steel. I will use a table saw for example here, but you can apply the same to all tools. If what you are trying to set is aluminum or something other than steel then you will need tohold it place. Here are the magnets:..For...

Wixey Digital Angle Gauge

Wixey Digital Angle Gauge

I originally undertook a review of this item http://lumberjocks.com/jocks/Tikka/blog/1195 in 2007. here are the comments I made then. There is not much to do with this unit when it arrives – just remove the battery cover, insert the battery and switch on. The operation of the gauge is very easy. I did find that my gauge when checking my blade in the table saw was wrong by 0.1°. This is within the tolerance of the gauge. I undertake more testing over the next few weeks and post the results....

I originally undertook a review of this item http://lumberjocks.com/jocks/Tikka/blog/1195 in 2007. here are some of the comments I made then. WIXEY DIGITAL SAW READOUT The first thing I noted was the excellent packaging inside the carton. Things were held in place to stop them moving about during shipment. (Other suppliers of equipment take note) You should read the blog if you want all the associated pictures. In summary – with my failing eyesight a great asset for accurate measuremen...

Always something.

Always something.

Well, it is dead on 100% accurate measured against my super square inside and out. I would give it 5 stars but falls way short in the locking department. Good for saw blades, magnet all around, (like it’s little square brother) and nice thick blades. good visible LCD, stable reading and location(not covered by blade). But have to be very careful when using it for what it was designed for that is measuring wall angles due to incredibly lousy locking mechanism.Get one if it’s on super sale.
