I just bought this caliper. I had an old one that was not digital, it just had stamped lines and measurements. I’ve used it for years, and considered it priceless. But, here lately, I’ve been wanting to get a little more accurate. So, I bought this Wixey brand 6” Digital readout caliper with fractions. WOW! I was really surprised at the difference. What I thought was good in the past is now not acceptable. This caliper has helped me be a better woodworker in so many ...

Wixey's Woodworking Wonders

Sure, we as woodworkers are dependent on measuring. Tape measures, story sticks, rulers etc, we use them all. Now consider for a moment if you could be even more precise in the height of that router bit or the thickness of that inlay. Wixey now offers several products, including their digital calipers that make life in the shop easier. Large display in inches with fractions or metric, stainless steel construction, accurate to 0.001”; and able to measure inside, outside, depth & step...

Wixey Saw Fence Digital Readout - Installation review

Wixey Saw Fence Digital Readout - Installation review

I have really been wanting one of these and I got it for my birthday yesterday. Was excited and got out late this morning and got started on the install. The first picture shows everything that came in the box. Well almost everything, it was missing one of the sensor strips. So my simple two hour install telescoped out within the first 20 minutes. So after an 1:30 minute round trip to Woodcraft to exchange it out. I was able start the install again. Assembly is simple and straight forward, th...

The original review of this item was about 9 months ago http://lumberjocks.com/jocks/Tikka/blog/1195. You should read the blog if you want to know how I mounted this to the DC-380 Well my planer is portable it is on wheels it the Delta DC-380. I know this device was not primarily designed to be used with this larger machine, well I was up for the challenge and if it did not work, then I had another use for the readout (see the end of the blog) In summary – I think that this will be a v...

I originally undertook a review of this item http://lumberjocks.com/jocks/Tikka/blog/1195 in 2007. here are some of the comments I made then. WIXEY DIGITAL SAW READOUT The first thing I noted was the excellent packaging inside the carton. Things were held in place to stop them moving about during shipment. (Other suppliers of equipment take note) You should read the blog if you want all the associated pictures. In summary – with my failing eyesight a great asset for accurate measuremen...

Wixey Digital Angle Gauge

Wixey Digital Angle Gauge

I originally undertook a review of this item http://lumberjocks.com/jocks/Tikka/blog/1195 in 2007. here are the comments I made then. There is not much to do with this unit when it arrives – just remove the battery cover, insert the battery and switch on. The operation of the gauge is very easy. I did find that my gauge when checking my blade in the table saw was wrong by 0.1°. This is within the tolerance of the gauge. I undertake more testing over the next few weeks and post the results....

A great little tool

A great little tool

Here’s a great little tool for setting the angle on most everything. Bandsaw, Tablesaw, Mitersaw, Radial Arm Saw… The best part is the precision and speed in which you can do it.There are magnets on the bottom which allows you to stick it to anything steel. I will use a table saw for example here, but you can apply the same to all tools. If what you are trying to set is aluminum or something other than steel then you will need tohold it place. Here are the magnets:..For...
