Triton Router

Triton Router

1371 days ago by Ed Elizondo | 16 comments »

I purchased the Triton 3 1/4 HP back in April of this year at the Houston Woodworking Show. I didn’t have a chance to use until just a few weeks ago. I loved the action while using the plunge and the soft start made it easy to handle and manuver. Having the variable speed made it easy when using the larger bits for raised panels. I currently have it mounted on my router table and while although I wish I had the hand crank to raise and lower the bit, I make do adjusting under the table. ...

Problems with adjusting the height of the cutter

Problems with adjusting the height of the cutter

I have the 3 1/4 HP Triton router and over time have been reading the reviews and note the main complaint is the under the table adjustment. In Australia where the Triton company started there is a large range of wood working accessories. The Triton router table provided easy access to the ratchet winder and the fine adjuster, there is also a dust collector bucket that has two inputs one for the table and one for the router and the bucket is attached via another hose to a vacuum cleaner. Triton Service update

Triton Service update

I purchased a 3 & 1/4 hp Triton TRA001 router almost 3 years ago. The first thing I did was build a router table around it. I have used it exclusively in the table since. a week ago I noticed that I had somehow cracked the lower casing in the area of the collet pin. I called the toll free number and explained what I had. The lady (I don’t recall her name, I wish I did) was professional & friendly. I explained that I didn’t have my sales receipt but, I had the date of manuf...

Addendum to this review 10/28/2010: A problem is being solved regarding below. You should read these addendums up from the bottom. After many months I finally decided to replace the nylon rack with the new steel one triton sent me (see previous addendums). Disassembly wasn’t to bad, about an hour in all to replace the part. I’ve been using this router in my table for a long time now even with the defective fine adjustment part. I find it ideal for table use. I can’t speak for ...

Triton Big Dog: A Couple Years Later

Triton Big Dog: A Couple Years Later

When I bought the Triton Big Dog the list price was $329.00 a pop. I paid the show price of $190.00 At that MSRP price it should be good to go out of the box in fact it so very good that one should not be contemplating the things one must change, alter, fabricate, and replace just to get the tool to perform correctly. What I didn’t like: 1.) The router base plate has raised letters molded onto it so that they stick out sharply. It’s hard not to point out that this is just pl...

Another full face shield

Another full face shield

1037 days ago by Don "Dances with Wood" Butler | 8 comments »

Greg the Whodat just posted his new face shield.I didn’t want to hijack his review, so I’m posting my own. Greg’s shield is a good one and the Triton PRA001 is probably more expensive. But I wanted to explain some of its advantages. Triton saw good to include earmuffs and they’re good one. They can be locked out away from the head for when you want to hear something and when putting the headgear on and off. There is no option for front or back battery location. It...
