Triton Respirator Exceeds Expectations

Photohttp://www.triton.com.au/product.php?id=29 Cost I purchased this at a wood show last year and I cannot remember how much I paid for it. I know that I did not cringe at the price, knowing the benefits it would bring and that I was very pleased with it once I tried it out. I never regretted the investment. Why did I get it? Because the LumberJocks told me how dangerous woodworking can be, due to breathing in the dust. Because when we got some rough-hewn pine I found that my e...

Addendum to this review 10/28/2010: A problem is being solved regarding below. You should read these addendums up from the bottom. After many months I finally decided to replace the nylon rack with the new steel one triton sent me (see previous addendums). Disassembly wasn’t to bad, about an hour in all to replace the part. I’ve been using this router in my table for a long time now even with the defective fine adjustment part. I find it ideal for table use. I can’t speak for ...

Triton Upgrades Their Above Table Micro-Adjuster Worm Gear

Triton Upgrades Their Above Table Micro-Adjuster Worm Gear

I have had my Triton 3 1/4hp router since last June 2010 and did not get to use it much until the last couple of months. I mounted this router on my TS extension and drilled the appropriate hole in the cast iron router extension and was good to go. The lifting mechanism worked well at first and then began to slip and eventually failed to lift, though adjustments could still be made when lowering via the above-table micro-adjuster. I called HTC-Triton (HTC are the new owners) in Michigan ...

Who needs a lift?

Who needs a lift?

After starting a forum topic recently to solicit opinions about what type of variable-speed router I should buy to leave mounted in my table for the most part, I eventually decided to go with the Trtion MOF001KC 2 1/4 HP plunge router. I thought hard about going with a more powerful motor, but I decided that my needs at the present time just didn’t justify it. If I decide I need something bigger later on, I figured the 2 1/4 would still be a dandy machine to have around for handheld wo...

Cannot tighten bits in Triton Router

Cannot tighten bits in Triton Router

03-04-2011 07:51 PM by Paul | 23 comments »

When using the 1/4 inch collet adapter I just cannot tighten the bit securely. I know enough to leave it not quite bottomed out in the chuck and I know that if I tighten it any more it will shear the router away from the mounting plate. The 1/2 inch bits seem to be much more secure. I think the way it is it is a dangerous situation because the bit will ‘climb’ out from the collet.I E Mailed the Triton people over a week ago and have gotten no response (yet).Has anyone els...

Triton MOF001KC 2-1/4 HP Plunge Router

Triton MOF001KC 2-1/4 HP Plunge Router

I am so impressed with this router.I was looking for a permanent under the table router, but I didn’t want to pay $200 + for the router and another $300 + for a router lift. The Triton includes the crank handle. just drill the hole for it, insert crank and raise and lower. I also like the fact that the collet is automatically locked at full height making bit changes really easy. The only thing I wish for (and from any router co.) is that they include a template to help affix to the rout...

May be awesome in the table but there are two things it lacks as a plunge router

I am a new woodworker so everything I do is a new learning experience. This Triton is my first plunge router. It comes with a lot of accessories and its already a good price even with out the extras. It has some cool features like a selectable rack and pinion height adjustment for quick large increment hight changes. It comes with a handle for through the table height changes. It comes with a circle cutting jig and edge guide and a full set of bushing inserts. As a table router I imagin...

Triton Router

Triton Router

08-19-2009 01:45 AM by Ed Elizondo | 16 comments »

I purchased the Triton 3 1/4 HP back in April of this year at the Houston Woodworking Show. I didn’t have a chance to use until just a few weeks ago. I loved the action while using the plunge and the soft start made it easy to handle and manuver. Having the variable speed made it easy when using the larger bits for raised panels. I currently have it mounted on my router table and while although I wish I had the hand crank to raise and lower the bit, I make do adjusting under the table. ...

Triton Service update

Triton Service update

I purchased a 3 & 1/4 hp Triton TRA001 router almost 3 years ago. The first thing I did was build a router table around it. I have used it exclusively in the table since. a week ago I noticed that I had somehow cracked the lower casing in the area of the collet pin. I called the toll free number and explained what I had. The lady (I don’t recall her name, I wish I did) was professional & friendly. I explained that I didn’t have my sales receipt but, I had the date of manuf...
