Rockwell Drill/Driver Set

Rockwell Drill/Driver Set

04-11-2011 07:22 PM by Philip | 10 comments »

I bought the Rockwel 12V Drill/Driver set from Amazon about three weeks ago for $145. I replaced an old 18V drill, because I got tired of paying $70 for new batteries about once a year. The Rockwell comes with a lifetime free replacement on the batteries. I called the company to find out what you have to do to get replacement batteries and was told you have to mail them your old batteries and pay shipping for the new batteries. They said shipping and handling would be $6.71 to Arizona. T...

A Bad Rap

A Bad Rap

I’m going out on a limb here. I’m going against the grain (pun intended)I’ve seen the reviews here on the “Blade Runner”, and I have to say it’s gotten a bad rap.I have been out of town, and when I got home, I decided to go into Woodcraft and nosy around. I saw the Bladerunner on display and thought about my past idea of mounting my Bosch jig saw upside down to a board, to be interchanged with my router, on my router table. This looked like a viable altern...

Tried a bunch of "multi tools" before buying the sonicrafter

Tried a bunch of "multi tools" before buying the sonicrafter

Overall this tool is a must have. The product performs all the functions that the infomercial claims and is extremely heavy duty. There a few flaws that the designers of this tool did not take into consideration with heavy use. Problem 1. The hex head bolt that is used to hold on the blades/cutters/sanders/etc… came loose a few times causing the attachment to bounce around. Second thing with the bolt was that after repeated changes of the attachments the hex head bolt and hex head wr...

I found this Delta Lathe off of Craigslist for 450.00.. I have been looking for this particular lathe for years.. I passed up a chance to buy one about 15 years ago..and regretted it ever since.. when I got this one home.. it was not in bad shape, but I wanted to really refurbish it and give it a new life.. It’s solid..I mean solid!! heavy cast iron everything..I could not find any of the blue/gray paint that Rockwell/Delta uses, so I completely sanded off all the old paint all the way...

Jawhorse (Sawhorse) from Rockwell, the Handy Helper

I do 99% of my projects alone. Believe me this one is a Lifesaver! I’m always a bit skeptical of infomercials and typically believe gimmicky tools are much more trouble than they are worth. But, thinking about all the times I’ve risked cutting boards that were unstable and chasing odd shaped items across my bench with my surface grinder, I kept thinking this thing might just be worth a try so I finally decided to order one. In the closed position the unit stores easily and take...

Rockwell Sonicrafter Does a Great Job

Rockwell Sonicrafter Does a Great Job

I had looked at the Fein Multimaster, but couldn’t justify the price. I bought the Sonicrafter specifically to sand between the rails of a baby crib I built for my daughter. This tool will see as much use as my random orbital sander! It’s very well made, and does a superb job. A couple of experiential comments: 1. The tool is a fast worker, let IT do the work for you. 2. The dust collection attachment gets in the way, and is useless. 3. I haven’t found a s...
