Tried a bunch of "multi tools" before buying the sonicrafter

Overall this tool is a must have. The product performs all the functions that the infomercial claims and is extremely heavy duty. There a few flaws that the designers of this tool did not take into consideration with heavy use. Problem 1. The hex head bolt that is used to hold on the blades/cutters/sanders/etc… came loose a few times causing the attachment to bounce around. Second thing with the bolt was that after repeated changes of the attachments the hex head bolt and hex head wr...

Rockwell 3Rill 12v lithium ion drill was a decent value.

Rockwell 3Rill 12v lithium ion drill was a decent value.

This drill was on sale for around $90 several months ago and it offered free lifetime replacement batteries which caught my interest. It didn’t come with a regular chuck – just accepts the 1/4” hex tools. I bought a regular chuck that fits in the hex end but it doesn’t have a keyless chuck. I don’t have the need for anything more than 12v. so the power is enough for me. I can’t really tell the difference between the different settings other than the sp...

I do a lot of woodworking, for over 40 years. My current shop is smaller, so my wood stock is kept in another room, about 20 feet away. Every time I need a piece of stock it is either hog over a big plank into the main shop and cut it, or take a circular saw into the wood room and cut off what I needed from the rack of wood. I tried using battery powered circular saws, but found that I often had a slightly dead battery since I only cut my stock at the beginning of the project, and the battery...

I’ve had this unit going on 8 months now and have had nothing but issues from day one with this unit, for starters the table is not true 90% to the drum, I’ve had to fight the nut turning on the threads from day one and today the drum stem threads finally stripped out, it’s been nothing but frustration and definitely not worth the $250.00 purchase, you’d be better off on buying the HF brand at a lower coast or buying a well known name brand like Delta, Grizzly and or ...

Sonic Crafter could be better

Sonic Crafter could be better

10-01-2012 04:14 PM by Julian | 11 comments »

I purchased the Rockwell sonic crafter about 2 years ago. I purchased it on-line for about $140. It came with the hard case and various cutting blades and sanding pads. I found that the machine screw that holds the blades can come loose from the vibration. You have to tighten the machine screw with an allen wrench (provided) to the point that I always worry I might strip the threads. After a few uses, my tool stopped working. It was within the warranty period so I called the 800 service...
