If Nick Englers recently reviewed book is the go to book for modern woodworking, then The complete woodworker is the turn of the century equivalent. Although out of print it,s still available through Amazon which has 21 copies for $4.17 US and if you are curious how your great Grandfathers made furniture then it,s absolutly worth the price of admission. Since jumping into this wonderful hobby, I have always dreaded one thing. Sharpening. Sure, I’ve read plenty of how-to on sharpening from scary sharp method to using accessories to good old fasioned oil or water stones. The methods out there are numerous and opinions even more so on which method is best for a beginner. It’s all just soo confusing and frustrating. This is the first book I bought, when I started woodcarving. I bought this book at the Ozark Folk Center in Arkansas in 1980. This book helped me a lot in my first attempts at carving. Harold Enlow shows how to carve Wind Spirits, Etc. With a lot of step by step images. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I just remembered that this “TREE TROLL” was taken from this book.
