New Plastic Dust Deputy Arrests Dust

New Plastic Dust Deputy Arrests Dust

The demo at AWFS and videos online were just too convincing … I ordered the new Oneida Dust Deputy kit ($99.00 plus $10.50 S&H). It was money well spent. The ‘kit’ comes with the plastic cyclone, two buckets, lid, hardware and hoses. The cone itself is a tough, heavy plastic, and the hose connections are tapered so my ShopVac hoses fit tight and stay put. Assembly took under 5 minutes. Instead of a copper wire and washer recommended by the manufacturer for static disc...

Oneida Mini Gorilla

Oneida Mini Gorilla

I was searching for a portable (one machine at a time) dust collector for my basement shop. After much research and anguish I settled on the Oneida Air Systems Mini Gorilla. Oneida cut the price to $795.00 and threw in a plastic Dust Deputy DIY cyclone. They also cut the price on the remote control upgrade to $30. I was vacillating between the Jet DC-1100 CK (Canister Filter) and the Mini Gorilla. The Jet had the higher CFM, but I wondered how long would I have 1100 CFM, was the filter g...

Dust Deputy

Dust Deputy

As you look at the advertising, Oneida seems to make a pretty outrageous claim concerning the efficiency of it’s Dust Deputy, they claim it captures 99% of the dust. In case you don’t know, the Dust Deputy is a mini cyclone that fits on a 5 gallon bucket lid which acts as a particle separator for your shopvac. I have been interested in this claim, and cautious, because I am interested in good dust collection for my shop. I collect as much dust at the source as possible, this is...

I’ve been using my Dust Deputy for several months now and feel it is time to give it a review. The theory is very sound and as long as the plastic stays together it works as advertised. BUT I can’t keep the top on. The glue at the factory failed, the epoxy failed and the “special glue from HD was no better. Evidently the plastic that it is made from is impervious to any kind of glue to keep this sucker together. I complained to their service department and was told to get th...

Poor customer service at Oneida Air Systems

Poor customer service at Oneida Air Systems

I was initially happy with the product until I noticed the cardboard drum had collapsed, since then my experience with Lisa Barone and customer service for Oneida has been very disappointing. After being told the cardboard drum should not have collapsed they refused to replace it. I purchased the steel replacement drum and lid early in November, I did not receive it, 2 weeks later when I contacted Ms. Barone she told me it will ship out that day and gave me an incorrect tracking number. A mo...

Dust Deputy with bigger bucket

Dust Deputy with bigger bucket

So I have had the dust deputy for about 2 years and was using the 5 gallon buckets that came with the kit. I got tired of emptying the buckets during planning so I searched and found the perfect fit. It was a 32 gallon container from Lowes and its the perfect match. I have attached the dust deputy to the bucket and was concerned that the suction would be impacted negatively but was positively surprised that it worked just as good if not better that before. I say better because I don’...

Multiple reviews already of the $99 Dust Deputy system sold by Oneida – thought I’d throw my two cents in on the $59 version that is just the cyclone sold separately. For the cost of a $5 painter’s bucket from Lowe’s and the time it takes to make a plywood lid, you have the same result as buying the complete kit with arguably a better lid/long term durability. I routed a groove in the plywood as someone else had suggested and put a layer of weather stripping in the...

Dust Deputy works like a charm

Dust Deputy works like a charm

Just picked up my DD today at the local Woodcraft store. Was not sure what to expect…only watched the online video as well as the reviews here and at other sites. Put it together per instructions, hooked it up to my old Ridgid 4.5 hp wet-dry vac and “POW”...it worked much better than expected. It was like adding a supercharger to my vac…cleaned up alot of sawdust on the floor and inside my TS cabinet in no time flat. I plan on getting a new 6.5 shop vac soo...

My Super Dust Deputy Review

My Super Dust Deputy Review

02-11-2014 02:52 AM by Garth | 2 comments »

I upgraded my shopvac & Dust Deputy to a Souped up Harbor Freight Dust Collector. With that, I got the Super Duputy. Attached are some pictures that show how much dust was collected in the bin by the cyclone and how little dust got into the bag of the dust collector. Needless to say, I think the pictures pretty much tell the story of how well it worked. More information on the system is here.

Home made Dust Collector

Home made Dust Collector

While trying to figure out how to afford a new cyclone dust collector, I started looking at what was available as single components. The Oneida Super Dust Deputy came up and that`s all I needed to get the project motor started. Since I re-kindled my love of woodworking, I have been using a Fein vac and a Dust Deputy kit for all my dust collections needs. This has worked well, but not the greatest with the planer and tablesaw. So when I started this project, I was looking to create a system wi...
