This will be my first review posted at this site and I felt I should share my experience with this tool because someone else left a glowing review and I just had to let people know that this same tool was not at all the quality tool that I thought it was going to be. Maybe I just got a bad one or something but the following is my account of the quality of this tool: I purchased this tool online at the HD website along with a Bosch router. The packaging was fine, no damage at all and I was ...

Ridgid BS1400 W/Riser Block

Ridgid BS1400 W/Riser Block

Out of the box, I would give it a 2 star rating, but after tweaking it a bit, I was able to raise it to 4 stars. I moved the motor to a position below the saw, made a new belt guard, replaced the blade guides and tires. I got it on clearance from HD; I think I paid around $175. I generally don’t expect 100% satisfaction from any tool I buy, but if there is something I can do to improve it, I will. The only time I will return a tool is when the fault is beyond my ability to fix.

Exceeded my expectations!

Exceeded my expectations!

I’m impressed with the Ridgid EB 4424 . For a lot of years I’ve been using my drill press with drum sanders to do what I bought this tool for. It’s hard to find drum sanders (that mount in a drill press) that are at least round, if not even concentric to their arbor shafts. For the last few years that more and more spindle sanders have been showing up in the tool catalogs, I’ve been reading the reviews. I was not impressed, although I was ready to try one just because ...

Not Ridgid Quality

Not Ridgid Quality

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Ridgid brand, especially their table saws. I had been looking at a bandsaw from Harbor Freight, but with the Ridgid band saw only $50 more, I thought it was a no-brainer. I really should’ve saved my money for something better…. I was excited to get my new bandsaw home and start cutting up some wood. But from the get-go, this was a bad experience. When the unit finally arrived, the box was in very poor shape. Fortunately, there was e...

Ridgid R4510

Ridgid R4510

I have decided to buy this saw not as a replacement but as a complement to my stationary/big bertha/woodshop tablesaw. Nothing new compared to other comments. I just want to add my 5 stars to the stack. The original 500 CAD price was a bit high for me and I was about to resign myself to wait and bang !.150 CAD OFF !. The promo is still active. On Homedepot.ca website, search for TS2400LS instead of R4510. I think the R4510 is the new version butHD site is not up to date. Anyways… ...

Ridgid Magnetic (MagSwitch) Featherboard

Ridgid Magnetic (MagSwitch) Featherboard

9-21-2012: Other reviews on LumberJocks convinced me that the far less expensive version at Home Depot (the Ridgid brand) was the same product as the yellow MagSwitch. I’m in the middle of rough cutting plywood to build cabinets for my kitchen. Always wanted to try one of these because I believe in feather boards but just never get around to cutting some from wood. I really need them now. And I really need two because I’m cutting big stuff. I usually don’t ask clerks if they have a certain pr...

Wow, I am stunned and ticked off all at the same time. I have owned a Ridgid band saw and drill press for almost 10 yrs. The DP has been stellar without a single issue. I actually have the much maligned Ridgid orange BS and I have it tuned up wonderfully and also love it. Due to these two tools I have added to my Ridgid collection. I have their combo shop vac/blower and also love it. Also, orange is my favorite color. :-) Now the sadness… I had a 4330 planer that I bought fr...

Not a big fan

When I bought my first truckload of wood, I thought that a 6” sander made more sense than a 5”. More surface area, larger handles, etc. It has become a bit of a money pit if nothing else. The sanding discs don’t seem to adhere nearly as good as either of the two 5” sanders that I have despite trying multiple brands. What’s worse is that I bought this at Home Depot and they don’t sell replacement pads, so after driving around town all day I just ende...

Ridgid 18-Volt Lithium Ion Drill Driver and Impact Driver Combo Kit $179

Ridgid 18-Volt Lithium Ion Drill Driver and Impact Driver Combo Kit $179

My old 14 volt batteries are getting tired, the chuck is wearing out and the drill is getting a bit loose. It is still very serviceable, but is is pre-lifetime warranty. The cost of batteries is prohibitive as compared to just replacing the whole thing with a new drill, battery and charger. Especially with life time warranty on the new batteries. A few months ago I read a review about the newer 18 volt Ridgid drill being a little short on battery time. I decided to pass and just shop fo...

Needs More Mag

I have been interested in these magnetic featherboards since they first came out. Recently I saw Ridgid came out with their version so I gave it a try. The idea is masterful. The execution is not. Although the fingers are supple, with just the right amount of pressure, the featherboard will not hold its position well. It would be hard to pull the featherboard straight up from a cast iron surface, however it slides too easily. One of the main reasons for having a featherboard on the tabl...
