Initial Review for Rigid R4151

Initial Review for Rigid R4151

03-23-2008 11:27 PM by steve3604 | 15 comments »

Been shopping for Miter Saws since last fall, read the reviews, searched the web, yada yada, 20% off sale on rigid tools at Home Depot so went and checked it out. I currently have some Rigid tools, (TS3650 table saw totally love it, TP1300 2 blade planer love it, floor model drill press don’t love it but its decent), looked at sliders, and non-sliders 10 and 12 inch, they even had some factory refurb 12” sliders for 349.00. I eventually went with the new R4151 and here’s wha...

One square, two square...

One square, two square...

03-01-2008 03:04 AM by Bill Butler | 13 comments »

...on your way to four-square, this jointer just can’t be beat. I wasn’t looking for high end professional quality in a jointer, and I wanted something more than a benchtop unit. I came across this jointer available at your local HD for $399. I decided to buy it based on the predominance of 4 and 5 star reviews at their site. The unit is easy to assemble, however you should definitely have two bodies to handle delivery, and physical assembly. (I can pickup my DeWalt 735 p...

Fantastic little workhorse!

Fantastic little workhorse!

This has turned into my go-to sander for most of my initial or coarse sanding jobs. It uses inexpensive sandpaper that you can cut yourself. It has great power so you can complete a sometimes tedious job quicker and more efficiently! The built in dust collection works fantastic, too! It is very rare to find a sander that leaves so LITLE sawdust behind when it is hooked up to a 2 1/2” shop vacuum! It includes a punch plate so you can pierce your sandpaper if you wish to cut it yours...

Powerful little shop vacuum!

Powerful little shop vacuum!

This little shop vac is a key player in my fight against dust and debri in my shop. While I use the larger 12 gallon Ridgid shop vac as my primary dust collection for my router, bandsaw and drill press, this one has a flexibiliity that allows me to move it from machine to machine indoors. Its 2 1/2” hose plugs directly into most machine’s 2 1/2” dust collection ports. Its light weight allows me to easily carry this outdoors when I sand, use my planer, jointer or portable...

Powerful 18 Volt Cordless Drill/Driver with Lifetime Warranty!

Powerful 18 Volt Cordless Drill/Driver with Lifetime Warranty!

Right now, February, 2008, Ridgid is phasing out its line of NiCad batery tools and phasing in their new Lithium Ion line. So they are making their tools capable of accepting either style batterys! But that will not make a big difference because they offer a lifetime service for the tool and the batterys that power them! After replacing my Craftsman batterys just last year and having them going south now, I decided top grab a Ridgid tool set while Home Depot has them on clearance sale. I ...

Ridgid TS3650 Table Saw

Ridgid TS3650 Table Saw

02-28-2008 09:15 PM by John Gray | 53 comments »

I’ve had this saw for about a year and love it. It was pretty square out of the box and the fence is really steady in contrast with earlier reviews on older models. The ability to move it on wheels is great, it comes with the wheels attached a bonus. There is a 2 1/2” dust collector hook up up under the saw which is so so, it’s hard to control the saw dust on any contractor’s saw. I have had no troubles with it and would highly recommend it.

(photo from: www.ridgid.com) When we first were looking for tools for our shop Rick wanted a drum sander. We asked at a store and were shown this Ridgid model which is multi-purposed. Rick was sold and we’ve never regretted the purchase. Features: belt sander (4”) spindle sander (5 sizes) tilting table Conversion Switching between the belt sander and spindle sander is really easy. It is also simple to change the sleeves for the spindle sander. Everything...

This saw restored my house, built my shop, and kept on truckin'.

I bought this saw after some research. Age old argument Bosch vs. Ridgid. It was on sale at Home Depot, so argument settled. When I first bought it I had not shop or shed. It folded right up and sat in the living room. UtilityI have built countless window screens, ripped trim, and even cut the 7’ parts for giant garage doors with this baby. I have ripped also plywood sheets, and re-sawn chunky 2×8’s with this saw. My contractor has one too and rewaws 20’ beams wit...

A great portable saw

A great portable saw

01-15-2008 03:09 AM by Zuki | 5 comments »

I purchased the TS2400LS in late December 2006. I needed a powerful and feature laden portable table saw for my workshop. I reviewed other portable saws including: Bosch 4000-09 Dewalt 774 I did not review the Makita 2704X1 it was not available at that time. I decided on the Ridgid for several reasons:- the non-pneumatic tires make for a more stable base- T- tracks in the table top- beveled top edge allowing the miter to slide easily- the slots in the fence allows jigs to be easil...
