Great saw, upgrade fence ASAP!

Great saw, upgrade fence ASAP!

573 days ago by slickSqueegie | 8 comments »

ok, So I researched Table saws for a while before I settled on this one. The only problem I have with this saw is the fence. It is a two piece system and I hate trying to align it. They should offer a small tube of Loc-tite for this to keep them from loosening! Or just simply make a one piece rail system!! It is garbage. In its defense I will say that i am used to the uni-fence and that may cause a little hate towards this unit. Ok now that i got that out of the way, all in all I do reco...

I statred working with mesquite wood about a year ago and one of the first machines I brought was the Ridge R4512 because of the price and the looks. One year later I am still trying to sell it. If I can’t sell it I will try to see if I can replace the motor with a motor with more HP. The Ridge R4512 is a good saw if you cut pine or soft wook BUT…..... it can’t cut mesquite or hard wood. It has a lot of problems cutting the wood. I have a lot of trouble cutting my wood for m...

Just what I needed.

Just what I needed.

A couple years back, I bought two craftsman routers off CL. One came with a fixed base and the other came with a fixed and plunge base. In spite of the bad “press” crfatsman often receives, these tools have treated me well. However, there is one legit shortcoming that I have found. The router accessory world basically revolves around Porter Cable, and Craftsman is no where to be found. This became especially apparent after I bought a HF dovetail jig and needed a baseplate bushing s...

Ridgid Shop Vacs

Ridgid Shop Vacs

780 days ago by kosta | 12 comments »

Yo whats up everybody I wanted to do a review on ridgid shop vacs. I have been using ridgid shop vacs for about 2 years. I have the ridgid 9 gallon 3 hp shop vac and the ridgid 12 gallon 5.5 hp shop vac. I use the 12 gallon shop vac which has a 2-1/2 in hose to collect the dust from my tablesaw. I use the 9 gallon shop vac which has a 1-7/8 in hose to collect the dust from my miter saw and sanders. The 12 gallon is one of the largest shop vacs you can buy and its a pretty nice shop vac. I use...

Ridgid 6hp/14 gal shop vacuum

Ridgid 6hp/14 gal shop vacuum

I have 2 of these [my wife stole one for the clinic]. The oldest is 6 or 7 years old. It has survived everything we have thrown at it. The reason I decided to post this review: I was planing some Jatoba today and my dust collection system clogged up again. Taking it apart and running a snake is a pain so I thought I’d try something. I hooked the Ridgid to the clogged 4” line about 16 feet in front of the clog and turned it on. To my surprise the fix was instant! I decided to revie...

The Ridgid digital miter gauge

The Ridgid digital miter gauge

This will be my first review posted at this site and I felt I should share my experience with this tool because someone else left a glowing review and I just had to let people know that this same tool was not at all the quality tool that I thought it was going to be. Maybe I just got a bad one or something but the following is my account of the quality of this tool: I purchased this tool online at the HD website along with a Bosch router. The packaging was fine, no damage at all and I was ...

Ridgid 1/2" Compact Cordless Drill is Great

Ridgid 1/2" Compact Cordless Drill is Great

I bought this drill at a Direct Tools outlet store in Hagerstown MD, they sell reconditioned Ridgid and Ryobi tools. Usually the only way you can tell that it is a reconditioned tool is the reconditioned stamp branded on the tool but this one had definate cosmetic wear. I wasn’t too pleased when I got it home and opened the box that it looked like it had been used on a construction site. Well, then I used it and WOW what an upgrade over the 12V B&D I had been using. The Ridgi...

Great little router and a great value with one nit

Great little router and a great value with one nit

452 days ago by WhoMe | 7 comments »

I looked around and didn’t see a review for this router so I figured I would post one since I have had it for about a year. When I got it, it was on sale for $89 so it was even a better deal. I bought this because I was looking for a nice trim router that I could use instead of my beloved but HUGELY HEAVY Hitachi M12V for small projects. It came in really handy for routing door hinge mortises recently as I just finished installing 8 interior door slabs into their existing frames. I hav...

Easy to use - seems like a pretty good deal

Easy to use - seems like a pretty good deal

311 days ago by Chris Campbell | 17 comments »

Bottom line up front – pretty nice little tool for moderate use with a few limitations for a good price. Some caveats: I am fairly new to woodworking and don’t have deep experience with a lot of tools. I gave this product 4 stars based on the fact that I think it works well, but I feel like five stars should be reserved for “the best of the best.” (Like grade inflation and such). So, four is a pretty good rating and means I would recommend it to a friend, even a ...
