Really nice sander

Really nice sander

02-14-2010 03:09 PM by CCWoodcrafts | 7 comments »

I needed to get a sander that hooks right in to my shop vac. My old craftsman doesn’t.I got this at Home depot based on review there. What a difference! You can hardly feel it vibrate, dust collection is superb, variable speed. I can’t believe I suffered with that old craftsman all these years. I’m not a big brand loyalist and had the Dewalt and PC in my hands but decided to give this a try as my Ridgid saw saw has been such a work horse. I’m glad I did. Does anyone k...

Improved switch design, great dust collection

Improved switch design, great dust collection

Update: I’ve owned this sander now for over a year, and it has gotten a lot of use. It’s been a great tool with no problems, so I’ll leave the five stars in place. The original review follows: I haven’t had this sander long yet, so my 5 star rating is based ondesign and recent performance. After I have used it for a longerperiod of time, I’ll come back and update my rating if warranted. I really want to comment on two aspects of the sander design. First,t...

Ridgid R2601 5" Sander Poor Quality

Ridgid R2601 5" Sander Poor Quality

09-18-2014 05:59 PM by txsawyer | 15 comments »

I bought the R2601 about 18 months ago. This sander has been in the repair shop more than it has been in my shop. I signed up for the Ridgid Lifetime Service Agreement (LSA) which is a joke. When sander started running erratically about a year ago, Ridgid told me to bring it to their repair facility which just happens to be a 5 hour drive for me. Told them I didn’t want to spend 20 hours or 2 days on the road. So the said said bring it to Home Depot which was much closer. Dropped it off...

Fast, Light, Durable Framing Saw

Fast, Light, Durable Framing Saw

03-23-2010 02:05 AM by TheDane | 12 comments »

2 years ago, I built a new 2nd floor deck with ‘picture framed’ outside deck boards, which requires cutting a number of 45-degree miters. I got frustrated with my old circular saw, so off to the big box I went. I came home with a Ridgid Fuego Compact Framing Saw, and couldn’t be happier. This saw is light-weight (only weighs 8 pounds), and tough … the shoe is composite, and the guard is magnesium. The depth and bevel settings are easy and accurate, and the sho...

Ridgid MS1290LZA & MS-UV Mobile base

Ridgid MS1290LZA & MS-UV Mobile base

06-12-2010 11:56 PM by lilredweldingrod | 15 comments »

I’ve had my Ridgid miter saw for two years now. At first I found it required more room in my shop than I had. After working around the large footprint, I bought the MS-UV mobile cart. I feel that I have the perfect combination now. The saw with a Freud D1296N blade is a dream to work with. And now that I have added the mobile base, my problem with the footprint is a thing of the past. Being in a wheelchair makes moving most shop equipment a dreaded chore. But the large wheels and the b...

In search of thin kerf Rip blade

In search of thin kerf Rip blade

08-24-2010 08:39 PM by Routerisstillmyname | 7 comments »

I already own what I and many consider the best ripping saw blade in industry (( http://lumberjocks.com/reviews/976 )) but there is one disadvantage with using that, the kerf is THICK. so although that’s my go to blade when I need to put a perfect edge on a long board, I needed a thin kerf blade for rip cuts without the need to mortgage the house.I decided to go real cheap and give one of those Frued 7” diablo blades a try when I saw this from Ridgid. So I decided to give it a chance. It has ...

Good Light to Medium Duty Drill/Driver

Good Light to Medium Duty Drill/Driver

10-01-2010 07:55 PM by Dedvw | 9 comments »

Purchased this drill just over a week ago for a really good price ($88 brand new). Box came with the drill, 2 batteries, flashlight, charger and carrying case. The owners manual was not in the box but this was not really an issue, Ridgid makes it very easy to find the PDF manual on their website. The tool itself appears very well made with a good blend of plastic and metal parts. The weight of the Drill is pretty good (a little lighter then my Makita 14.4V) but is a bit top heavy making it...

I just bought this tool the other day specifically for one project, used it today for the first time, so this is an intial impression review and time will tell how it holds up or what other uses I may find for it. Good she says, I ordered oriental carpet for a stair runners and you can help me install it this weekend. After reviewing her video on stair runner i...

Ridgid 16 Gal Pro Vac 1851 a real good performer

Ridgid 16 Gal Pro Vac 1851 a real good performer

This weekend I went and bought a new shop vacuum. My old crappy one from Lowes was not even powerful enough to vacuum plane shavings.. I went to Home Depot and bought their most powerful one. For $159.00 it is money well invested. It comes with a 16 Gallon tank and plenty of accessories. The port is a standard 2 1/2 ” which is one the the reasons I bough it. There are adapters available to go from 2.5 to 4” and hook up to tools like a planner. This thing is a beast. The suct...

Good thing for Guaranteed.

Good thing for Guaranteed.

My old Makita Hammer drill was 150 miles away so I slipped off to Home Depot and perused their tools. The Ridgid Hammer Drill was on sale and another 20% off so I bought it. It also came with a tool bag which is nice. Loved the weight, not too heavy like some. I like the way it felt in my hand, liked the chuck with the key, the depth stop device and the quick remove add on handle (have no idea why one needs that with only 7 amps). Also like the cord that lights up when plugged in and th...
