I have no complaints with this saw. It’s a great buy for the money. I’ve only used it for one project so far so if things change I’ll update this. I doubt they will though. Pros:-Enough power for what what just about anyone will do.-Fence alignment is easy.-Blade alignment is easy, I think they worked out all the problems there. blade to miter slot is easy…still has other problems noted below-Mobile base is smooth.-4” dust collection port. Cons:-none so far...

Powerful Tool In a Small Package

Powerful Tool In a Small Package

For Christmas I received this little router and finally got a chance to put it to use today. I’ve always had a lot of respect for the big routers and their potential for beautiful work, and great damage. I’ve always felt like I was wrestling a runaway chainsaw. This compact bodied router still has power to do most of the work I need, yet doesn’t feel like it’s going to get away from me like my full body router. I also noticed that the smaller body made it much easier t...

Well, Ms. Santa has been nice to me once again. I casually mentioned this once upon a time to the wife while at Home Depot and lo and behold I find it under the tree. I love this thing! Works great, no complaints. Yes I have used the snot out of it already. I really like the edge sander the best.

R4512 Table Saw Assembly tip - Lubrication / Table Cleaning

R4512 Table Saw Assembly tip - Lubrication / Table Cleaning

254 days ago by basset7 | 16 comments »

I recently purchased and assembled a Home Depot Ridgid R4512 table saw. I took my time assembling the saw and enlisted help (it’s heavy). I have two suggestions during assembly. One – while the saw is upside down and before you attached the dust chute and base legs, lubricate the gear shafts of both the bevel and up/down adjustments. My saw had minimal grease. Easy to do at this stage – not so sure later. Two – to get rid of the nasty oil film from factory on...

A nice machine to have in the shop, Ridgid EB4424 Oscillating Edge Belt / Spindle Sander

Though there are other positive review results on this sander, I thought I’d give my thoughts. My spindle sanding adventure, I first started off with a Rockwell Spindle Sander Shop Series RK9011 in which was a failure, I posted a review on it here,, once it failed I purchased the Jet Model 708404 thinking I was getting a 6” sander only to get it home and find out it’s actually a 4”, you only get 4.5” above the table though the drums are 6” didn’t...

A GOOD LITTLE SAW

A GOOD LITTLE SAW

322 days ago by PatrickB | 3 comments »

While this saw is not made anymore (it is made in another version) I found it to suffice for my needs at the time. The covering on the table wore off kind of quick but it did not impact the performance of the saw. For a job site saw the fence was adequate but nothing fantastic. I did put a WoodWorker II saw blade on it and that made a difference in how the saw cut. For over $100.00 it better make a difference!! I was able to 8/4 wood for cutting boards with this saw. I will admit it did not ...

Makita & Ridgid - Looking back to the precursor of the modern age.

In 1983 Makita came out with the model 6010D cordless drill.I bought one. While it was not the first to market, it was the real beginning of what we enjoy today. But what a contrast that would turn out to be. The feature set of 83 included: A single speed – 600 rpm.A real long charge time with a real short run time.A small cheap keyed chuck. One 7.2 volt Ni-Cad battery packLow torque with no clutch.A dumb charger and a real limited warranty,A sickly blue colour andthe ongoin...

Newbie searching BORGs for TS

Newbie searching BORGs for TS

I’m basically brand new to woodworking and recently bought a Ridgid R4512 as my first table saw. I wanted to write a post to consolidate a lot of the information that I found while researching this saw. I’m going to start with a section on the things I found while researching my purchase and finish with a couple of observations from the very basic work I’ve done so far. Like many people considering this saw, my budget was limited to about $600. This quickly narrowed my se...

Ridgid T1300 Planer Blade Replacements

Ridgid T1300 Planer Blade Replacements

416 days ago by OakHill | 18 comments »

As an owner of the Ridgid T1300, buying new blades from Home Depot orRidgid is darn near impossible. While searching the internet for replacementsI found the Powertec 128070 blades. Advertised as “Replacement blades forthe T1300” Two sets were purchased through Amazon for $25.19 per set. A few dollarsless than the price at Home Depot, when they were available. Upon receiving the blades the first thing I did was inspect the blades using aMicrometer. The thickness was .073, the same as...

The Full Potential of the R4512

The Full Potential of the R4512

424 days ago by aatwatch | 41 comments »

I have an R4512 with a MLCS cast-iron router table extension, Incra 32” TS-LS fence system, Incra 1000HD miter guage and 48 tooth WWII blade. I love this saw and have no complaints other than being underpowered at times. However, once everything is properly calibrated I would argue that this setup could perform as well as any comparable duty saws and it has made me very happy to own. The MLCS cast-iron extension bolted up easily with the supplied hardware. The middle bolt was tric...
