I have a delta midi lathe and have been using it for over a year now. I can get things done pretty quickly and have done quite a bit of turning, but one consistent problem has been duplication of pieces that is accurate… I have wanted to build a chess set and a duplicator is necessary. I needed to increase the cutting capacity of my table saw and last fall I bought a Vega Pro 50 fence system. I originally wanted to get a Biesemeyer, but I really need both my legs and both my arms. I finally pulled the trigger on the purchase of a USA made Vega D36 Pro Lathe Duplicator along with a Canadian made Oneway Spindle Steady. The Vega D36 allows you to use either a template which you make (which has the profile of the turning cut into it) or you can mount an original turning up to 4? diameter which you wish to copy. This duplicator is the best manual duplicator for the money that I have used. It comes in different lengths and different price ranges. It has a variety of different adjustments.
