POWERMATIC PM 54HH ONYX JOINTER - POOR QUALITY, VERY DISAPPOINTED

POWERMATIC PM 54HH ONYX JOINTER - POOR QUALITY, VERY DISAPPOINTED

There’s a poor quality video (shot with my iPad in low-light) of the jointer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cxtcw_xX874&feature=youtube_gdata_player This is my first powermatic tool, and I’m very, very disappointed. For frame of reference, the other main woodworking tools I have in my shop are (1) Sawstop Professional TS, (2) An American-made Delta bandsaw (probably early-mid eighties), and Rockler wall-mount dust collector. I also have the Incra TS-LS Supersystem ...

Powermatic PM2000 5hp tablesaw

Powermatic PM2000 5hp tablesaw

Splurged on the new table saw a few months ago and wanted to post a quick review to help others out there make a wise decision if they are in the market as well. I have no photo so instead you all get to admire my beautiful 2-year old daughter Caitlin. She is happier than am I about the machine by the looks of her. Saw arrived in two packages. The heaviest of which was REALLY heavy. It took 5 guys to muscle this thing into my basement and I’m pretty sure it is never going to leave th...

My "Almost" Dream Table Saw

My "Almost" Dream Table Saw

1853 days ago by Lenny | 37 comments »

I have been woodworking without a table saw (TS) for nearly 30 years; using a radial arm saw as the workhorse of my tools. I never had the room for a table saw when I worked out of my 8’X11’ basement shop. In 2007 I became the happy owner of a dedicated shop, attached to my garage. It is only 8’x18’ but it has an 8’ ceiling and is almost double the space I had. I plan to retire from my job of 32+ years next July and planned to use the money I will receive for my unused v...

Powermatic 14" bandsaw

Powermatic 14" bandsaw

I finally convinced myself that I was ready for a bandsaw. I spent about a month looking into them and settled on the Powermatic 14”. I wasn’t interested in getting something that I would have to upgrade due to any number of possible deficiencies so I thought I was safe with the trusted Powermatic name. Well, I was almost right. I had a rough start with this saw. If it wasn’t for their superior customer service I would have returned it. I ordered the 14” bandsaw, ri...

Powermatics PM 2800 the ultimate Drill Press for the modern WoodWork Shop.

The beautiful, big black Powermatic 2800 Onyx variable speed 18” Drill press arrived well crated with sturdy wooden skids, a wood frame and heavy corrugated cardboard protecting all sides The crate was quite heavy, about 302 Lbs. so I recruited a helper to assist with the unpacking and assembly. We carefully unpackaged and inventoried all the component parts and hardware before proceeding with the assembly. The entire process took about 45 minutes including taking photographs while following ...

Powermatic 1200 Air Cleaner

Powermatic 1200 Air Cleaner

Installation Assembly of a tool could not have been simpler. The only real assembly consisted of attaching 4 anchor eye bolts to the tool’s cabinet. I chose to mount it to the ceiling in order to control fine dust within the shop. This is definately a two person job since the assembled cabinet weighs about 70 pounds. The unit has three fan speeds and can be set for either continuous operation or set via a timer for 1 to 4 hours. Performance The cleaner will remove 99 percen...

McBridge Cabinets, New Table Saw

I got my Powermatic 2000 table saw the other day. It is a 10” 3HP saw with a 50” Accufence and extention table. I also got a free Powermatic metal sign, zero clearance insert and zero clearance dado insert. I bought the saw from Tool-Plus for $2,669 which included the saw, freight and tail gate service http://www.tools-plus.com/powermatic-1792000k.html. The saw was very well packaged and came thru with no damage. Everything was there except for the hardware package for the Accu...

A Boy and His Saw

A Boy and His Saw

881 days ago by Lildrgnoflb01 | 23 comments »

Chapter One: The QuestOur story begins as our intrepid young intermediate woodworker filters through the plethora of information on the internet about table saws. Relying heavily on woodworking websites like his favorite Lumberjocks, he sorted out what he needed. He’s in search of a cabinet saw, a sure upgrade from the Ridgid contractor’s saw he’s been making sawdust with for the last three years. His vision was narrowed to two saws, the Sawstop 3hp cabinet saw, and the Powermatic PM2000,...

My Experience (so far) with the Powermatic PM1800

My Experience (so far) with the Powermatic PM1800

Hello! I am not new to forums or new to woodworking, but I am new to THIS forum. I joined mainly to post my review of this saw but looks like a good forum with a lot of information and good people. So hello from Texas! RobWoodWorker’s post was one of a few reviews that I read (there are only a few out there) before pulling the trigger on this PM 1800 mega bandsaw. Rather than rehashing a lot of the same data, I thought I would just piggy back onto Rob’s post and compare my find...

NEW POWERMATIC PJ882

NEW POWERMATIC PJ882

213 days ago by jeffk726 | 22 comments »

After finally giving up on Delta to turn things around, I decided to purchase the PJ882 model during the Thanksgiving sale promotion. After scouring the internet for recent reviews, I decided to move forward with this purchase as there really were no new positive or negative reviews. I deemed the lack of negative reviews as a good thing. After receiving my jointer 1 week after purchase, I was excited to get it up and running. First came the uncrating. The packaging was adequate as th...
