I know there have been many praises and reviews for Simple Green to clean all kinds of saw blades but I read another praise in “Woodworkers Resource” about mixing Simple Green 1:4, 1 part Simple Green to 4 parts water. The author let the blades soak for 3 hours and said it worked as good or better than any other product for removing build up on saw blades. I heard that soaking carbide tipped blades in simple green can leach carbide from the metal. I emailed simple green and a rep confirmed that the standard simple green should not be used to soak carbide tipped blades. He recommended two other simple green products that have no such problem: 1. Simple Green Pro HD 2. Simple Green Aircraft parts cleaner I found the simple green Pro HD at my local Home Depot. During a work conference, one of the vendors present was for Simple Green. After talking about hobbies for a while, we got on the subject of cleaning pitch and gum from blades and bits. He had offered me a sample of the product to try. It was simply amazing, one spray on a blade and the pitch and gum just dissolved. I had pulled out the worst blade of the bunch, and with some light brushing; the pitch came off as easy as you please. I am not sure if this is out on the market, I checked...
