Aluminium 4" Box Clamp Review

Aluminium 4" Box Clamp Review

I am old school, so buying metal tools that once were standard, everyday commodities, seems to be something that has lived with me as I have grown over the years. I seem to appreciate metal tools more and more every day( in this day and age of injected, molded plastic, disposable tools and appliances made in an Asian country that American company’s can not compete with) that are made state side. I put off buying these for many years and struggled through the process of assembly and g...

Woodpeckers TS-6 T-Square

Woodpeckers TS-6 T-Square

09-28-2014 04:08 PM by timbertailor | 2 comments »

I recently did a review of the” Woodpecker’s 6” Carpenter’s Square” and I use it a great deal. But, when I need to do more detailed work, the precision of the TS-6 is a welcome addition to anyone’s measurement and layout arsenal. It is 6” long, as the name implies and is just the right size for most small jobs like mortis, tenons, hole layout, jointery, hinge and drawer layout, inlays, etc. The ruler has 1/32” micro holes for use with a me...

Woodpecker's 6" Carpenter's Square

Woodpecker's 6" Carpenter's Square

Not much you can say about any Carpenter’s Square. They have a wealth of uses every day and is probably everyone’s most used measurement and\or layout tool. So why buy the offering from Woodpecker's? For one, it has a unique design that allows the square to sit on its base without falling over. Make’s checking 90 and 45 degree angles a snap. This feature also gives the tool heft which comes in handy. The quality of the materials insures accuracy of the tool over the...

Woodpeckers multi knobs- fantastic!

Woodpeckers multi knobs- fantastic!

I’ve used both these styles in various jigs, both the mini and regular multi knobs and cannot say enough good about them. I used to spend hours shopping around to find the right diameter knob with the right size thread and right length and the right type. These are very flexible in that you can use them as a through or studded knob. The minis come only in 1/4”, but the larger knobs come in 1/4”, 3/8” or 5/16” standard hex head bolts or nuts. The minis especially hav...

Solidly built, great case. Nothing cheap and plasticy about this

Typical Woodpeckers solid device, here. It’s a corner jig for rounded corners, as well as a chamfer jig for corners. There are 12 different sizes for rounded corners, from 1/4” to 1-1/2”, and 6 different sizes for chamfered corners, from 1/4” to 1-1/2” The jig is solidly milled out of aluminum, with generous tabs for clamping to your workpiece, as well as a solid stable surface for your router to rest on. I was able to easily rout corners in a variety o...

Nifty, useful measuring tool

Nifty, useful measuring tool

Got an email about the rule stop and decided to take chance on it. I thought the price was a bit high, but the ability to use my existing rulers of different lengths was a real plus. It ways that the Rule-Stop-1 is for rulers up to 1” wide, but it appears to me like it would work for up to 1.5” wide. http://www.woodpeck.com/rulestop1.html My thoughts:1) It is really handy for repeated measurements or just to precisely set a stop and them mark using the end of the ruler. ...

Preliminary Review Of The Woodpeckers WDPPACK1 Drill Press Table

Preliminary Review Of The Woodpeckers WDPPACK1 Drill Press Table

09-23-2013 04:29 AM by Brad_Nailor | 25 comments »

I have been debating for a year or so about building/buying a good drill press table for my DP. I have seen a lot of really well done ones on this website, and till a few weeks ago hadn’t really seen anything commercially made that really impressed me. I have worked a couple projects lately that I needed the DP for and just a piece of melamine poorly clamped to the metal table wasn’t cutting it.I went online for design inspiration and was looking for ideas on LJ and at commerciall...

Woodpeckers framing squares

Woodpeckers framing squares

12-15-2012 07:05 PM by mbs | 6 comments »

I needed to check both flatness and squareness across long surfaces and long miter fences. The most accurate tool I had was a Starrett 12” combination square. After a lot of time screwing around I came to the conclusion that the Starrett square wasn’t square and the blade wasn’t long enough to check for flatness. I borrowed my friends Woodpeckers framing square and I was done with the machine setup in no time. And it was perfectly accurate. You can see from the pic...

Woodpeckers Precision Clamping Squares

Woodpeckers Precision Clamping Squares

Next to keeping your fingers attached to your hands, easily the most important thing in regular woodworking is keeping things square. I can’t count the number of times I’ve gotten myself in trouble over the years by being lax about this. The cure to out of square is painful, time consuming and often fruitless. “Oh, it’ll be alright” is the faint siren song in your memory as you look in dismay upon your project. This is what I do for a living so it’s wor...

Woodpeckers Side Winder Router Lift SW350

Woodpeckers Side Winder Router Lift SW350

06-17-2012 12:32 AM by Chris Cook | 11 comments »

This all started with the idea of designing and building my own router lift. I researched what people were doing and found a ton of really cool ideas. I looked at quite a few of the commercial router lifts and just wasn’t ready to pony up $350-$500. During my research I came across the Woodpeckers SW350 router. As it was $239 on Amazon, it kept coming to mind as the solution. So, I figured that I would go ahead and get it. If it’s junk, it goes back to Amazon.Well, it certainly isn’t ...
