I received the Work Sharp 3000 for Xmas. I absolutely love this thing. Dry sharpen, no water, no mess. I sharpened 5 chisels and one plane iron in about an hour (maybe less). The only reason I didn’t give it a 5th star is because I have one plane iron slightly over 2” and it doesn’t fit the ramp so I can’t sharpen it on the machine. I have to load the iron in a jig and sharpen from the top. The plane iron might be 2 1/8” at the most. I mean come on! I...

I have been needing another method of sharpening other than by hand. I have been using a 3 and 6 inch grinder for shaping, and Arkansas stone’s for fine tuning. For plane blades, a large piece of glass with assorted grits of wet or dry sandpaper. I have made some jigs for the grinders to get somewhat of a hollow bevel started. And have had some reasonable success with the bevel. As long as I was not dealing with 2 inches or larger. But the stones and my inconsistency of sharpening have ...

I recently picked up a WorkSharp 3000 after trying my hand at tuning some bevel-up Veritas 3/16” thick A2 steel plane blades. The instructions say to attach the wide blade guide, leveling it with the sharpening sandpaper. Unfortunately, it won’t go down that far, because the inside of some of the supports squeeze against a raised piece of the machine.
