The MLCS Multi Joint System

The MLCS Multi Joint System

317 days ago by Blackie_ | 5 comments »

As a new adventurous into box joint, joinery and after study and research I optioned for the router table version The MLCS Multi Joint System as for me swapping out a router bit is much more to my liking apposed to swapping out a tablesaw blade plus it’s easier and leaves a cleaner cut. I’ve had this system for a good bit and after trial and error during the learning phase, I now have a good grasp on how it works, am pleased with how it preforms, it’s ease in use and ready t...

MLCS Horizontal Router Table

MLCS Horizontal Router Table

2106 days ago by Toolz | 11 comments »

I was having trouble routing wide panels standing on edge on my router table. I made a jig to stand panels on edge for trimming solid edge moldings on plywood but was unhappy with the results. After reading reviews http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/smarthtml/pages/review1.htm#Horizonal_Tab_anchor and watching the short video http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/smarthtml/pages/horizontal_router_table.html I ordered the table and mounted a Craftsman Model 3...

A plug cutter set well worth a plug.

A plug cutter set well worth a plug.

1952 days ago by Emeralds | 3 comments »

I’ve been looking around for good value in plug cutters and as usual decided to start at the bottom of the price ladder and work my way up. It didn’t take much time to realize that there are times when cheap simply won’t “cut” it. (pardon the pun). After three products from as many different vendors all failed to impress, I landed at the MLCS website. I skipped right over their 8 piece plug cutter set as it was very similar to the Rockler product that I had al...

Final Cut THIS WORKS GREAT!!!!!!

Final Cut THIS WORKS GREAT!!!!!!

2070 days ago by Built2Last | 7 comments »

First, sorry but I couldn’t get a picture of the final cut to load so I loaded a picture of one of my glider’s. Check out this by MCLS!! http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shopsite_sc/store/ec081111.html While I have not acutally used theirs, I did take atwo 100 grit sanding discs that were 12 inch and cut them down to 9 inch and put them on an old bosch blade that I knew left a lot of saw marks and I was amazed at how smooth the rips came out. I usually use a Forrest woodworker...

Frustration with MLCS Dovetail Jig Defects

Frustration with MLCS Dovetail Jig Defects

1592 days ago by mikedrums | 19 comments »

Don’t you love having to fix something, out of the box, that you bought, new.I bought a dovetail jig from MLCS.I open it up and start to assemble it and there are problems, right off the bat. You can see in the following pictures that half of the six bolts on it are bent. What you can’t see is that the template brackets were also bent and thejig body was out of square. (The jig body holds the stock together at 90degrees) Of course, they offered to replace it, but I wou...

Drill Bits & Plug Cutters.

Drill Bits & Plug Cutters.

1335 days ago by Ken90712 | 8 comments »

I had purchased these bits and cutters a few months ago and now that I have used them for a while I decided to post a review. I have purchased several items in the past from MLCS and so far have not been disappointed. Each set of bits come in a simple little wooden storage box which is a nice touch. So far both sets of bits have performed VERY WELL, and show no signs of wearing. The only drawback and the reason I gave it a 4 stars rating is the box the tapered bits come in. They could of h...

MLCS Motorized router lift

MLCS Motorized router lift

458 days ago by Indiana_Parrothead | 8 comments »

I had decided to upgrade/build a new router table and wanted to add a router lift. When I started looking at options I found that there are many to choose from. Starting at the Woodpecker Side Winder lift at $245 upto the MLCS motorized lift at $389. Most of the better manual lifts were in the $325-$360 range. I decided to get the MLCS lift. I ordered it in early November and was put on a waiting list. The next shipment was scheduled to come in on Dec 31st. I found that all of those were spok...

MLCS Jointer knife setter - easy cheezy

MLCS Jointer knife setter - easy cheezy

I didn’t really want to spend $80 on this but I did it anyway.List Price: $89.95 Price: $70.69 http://www.amazon.com/MLCS-9397-Jointer-Planer-Setting/dp/B001NXC6YQ NOTE: The way the jigs are setup in the picture above is incorrect! The magnets register directly onto the cutter head; they never attach to the table surface! The reviews were pretty bad, actually, but it works as advertised. It’s made of some heavy duty type plastic with really hard-tugging rare Earth magnets. T...

MLCS Laser gouded router plate #9098

MLCS Laser gouded router plate #9098

874 days ago by Pete_Jud | 6 comments »

Received this today, and mounted it up to a PC 690 D handle router. It’s kind of one of my “go to” routers in the shop. It was thicker than I expected, with a larger hole to be able to use larger bits than the Rockler clear insert that I had been using on this router, so it will not be able to use standard PC insert guides, and that”s ok with me as I have other plates to use. The laser was “dead nuts” on using a 45 V grove bit, But the feature I like the...
