Making Mechanical Marvels in Wood by Raymond Levy

Making Mechanical Marvels in Wood by Raymond Levy

I thought this book was really neat. I love mechanical “things”. All the models in this are meant to be demonstrative of basic mechanical devices that make up the larger machines that are all around us. Cam Follower, Couplings, Scotch Yoke etc…. I am hoping my finished models will be “desk worthy” as I am an engineer and the others in my office would get a kick out of this. I have built a simple one and am partially through one of the more challenging ones. Th...

IGAGING digital angle cube

I bought this from Rockler about a week ago, it was on sale for 10$ cheaper than the wixey, so i figured why not, if it sucks i can return it. So far I have to say this thing rocks.Pros:-has really strong magnets in it, wont slip at all off of a highly polished blade.-cheaper than wixey-has hold button for odd position angles-numbers auto flip when you turn it upside down to make it easier to read-takes a 9v battery-has magnets on 3 sides ( i dont know if the wixey does)-has machined metal b...

Lost Accuracy

Lost Accuracy

I received this as a present last Christmas and thought things were good with it until now! I had my tablesaw blade set for some angled cuts and just re-squared the blade with the Angle Cube. I ripped pieces to make 8 cabinet doors and when I brought them to the shaper noticed they didn’t sit squarely on the fence! A try square showed them to be off by about 5-6 degrees. I double checked the tablesaw with the angle cube but according to it was right on. Hand planed a piece square, ...

This is an aftermarket laser guide that replaces the outer washer on your arbor. The packaging says that it will fit an arbor that is 7/16×5/8. the package says that it will not fit these 12” miter saws, Ridgid, pro-tech, makita ls1221, dewalt dw705s produced before 2005. It will not fit these circle saws: Porter cable quick-change , all worm drives and skil. I just put this on my GMC 10 inch sliding compound miter and i have to say it works pretty good. the laser is turned ...

Review of The Anarchist’s Tool ChestBy: Christopher Schwarz I have just re written the review slightly since I after reading it again could see that I could be read wrong in some passages, that they could be read like ‘personal’, I belive what is left now is not more personal than Schwarz’s choose to put us inside in his book. The Workbench Design BookBy: Christopher Schwartz ISBN-10: 1558708405 ISBN-13: 978-1558708402 This book is really a landmark in workbench books for me. The workbench design book is a book that takes you on a tour in workbenches; we get a little historical insight, some geographical insight and the chance to see what workbenches some of the top guides of the trade are using. My personal favorite are with no doubt the 21st-century Workbench, this bench is so rock solid and well tho...
