JacPac CO2 Compressor - Very Good

JacPac CO2 Compressor - Very Good

234 days ago by CharlieD | 13 comments »

Recently, I bought the JacPac CO2 portable compressor product and it sat in my shop for a couple of months before I used it. I like it a lot and will use it a lot… going forward. It is very handy when you have to do work outside a location where you have a compressor or one with no electricity. I took it to a house where I needed to finish up a small job. I took my Bostitch 15 gauge angle nailer and 18 gauge PC. I took the 18 guage because I thought it might not drive the 2 inch ...

K-Grip Siphon Spray Gun aka Critter Spray Gun

K-Grip Siphon Spray Gun aka Critter Spray Gun

This is a review of the following http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=17858&filter=critter%20spray I have had this for a while, and it was $40 when I bought it, it’s $50 now. I primarily use this for spraying interior latex paint on furniture. This gun has a bad rep, but I like it. Yes, it makes a cloud—wear lung protection. I mix the paint with water, pop it on the compressor, set it to 40psi (I have a little pancake compressor) and spray small projects. I ...

Trend T4 Plunge Router

Trend T4 Plunge Router

I bought one of these routers about 10 months ago. It’s the first and only plunge router that I own, and I couldn’t be more pleased with it. I guess the thing that I like the most is the size to power ratio. I think it’s listed at about 8 lbs and puts out just over 1 HP. It’s very well made and easy to operate, with it’s variable speed motor and smooth plunge mechanism. It has a plunge stop with 3 different settings. Comes with a very nice oversize guide, ...

Storage Units

These little gadgets (cans) are recycled from another use, but come in very handy in the storage of misc. nuts, bolts, washers, etc. I own a small collection of these storage devices myself. This company produces several colors, versions and sizes. Other companys also produce these economical units.

Simpson StrongTies

Simpson StrongTies

This isn’t really a woodworking tool however I’ve never seem them referenced in any magazines or online so I thought I’d toss it up here. If you’re not familiar with these go to your local big box store. Simpson Strongties are metal connectors in various shapes. Mainly used in the building trades a few of these connectors can be used to make shelves and even workbenches. Anyway, they’re a bit pricey but they make a quick work of building shelves and benches...

Making Mechanical Marvels in Wood by Raymond Levy

Making Mechanical Marvels in Wood by Raymond Levy

I thought this book was really neat. I love mechanical “things”. All the models in this are meant to be demonstrative of basic mechanical devices that make up the larger machines that are all around us. Cam Follower, Couplings, Scotch Yoke etc…. I am hoping my finished models will be “desk worthy” as I am an engineer and the others in my office would get a kick out of this. I have built a simple one and am partially through one of the more challenging ones. Th...

If you sell, you should really take a look at this book

If you sell, you should really take a look at this book

145 days ago by Durnik150 | 5 comments »

I have accrued a lot of woodworking books over the last 3 years or so and avidly read as much as I can about my favorite hobby. I occasionally sell some pieces so got hold of this book. This book is available at Amazon for $15.63 as of this writing. The author is Dan Ramsay. First off, not everyone needs this book. If you enjoy woodworking for the relaxation, the craft, or as gifts, you don’t need this book. If you are actually trying to make a profit or are seriously considering ...
