Makita LS1214F 12-Inch Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw

Makita LS1214F 12-Inch Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw

I just bought this Makita 12” sliding miter saw and cannot say enough good about this saw. I went to Acme Tool an hour and a half away in Cedar Rapids so I could play with the Makita, Bosch and Dewalt miter saws. I felt the Makita had the smoothest slides of all three and liked the way the slides are on the bottom of the saw. There was no movment whatsoever and it just seemed like the best quality saw. It was right on the nuts out of the box and I cut all my trim for the shop with it. I would...

Makita LS1016L 10" Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw w/ Laser

Makita LS1016L 10" Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw w/ Laser

So I just got this miter saw about a month ago and so far the only complaints I have had about it where that I needed to adjust the laser after I first got it. It cuts smoothly and accurately, it slides nicely and it makes cuts up to 13” wide. it’s already saved me lots of time, I hardly need to use my crosscut sled anymore for anything other than plywood and I just can’t say enough good things about this saw!

Never drive screws with drill again

Never drive screws with drill again

03-27-2008 06:35 AM by dlgWoodWork | 12 comments »

I recently bought the Makita 18 volt drill. I wish I would have bought the kit that included the impact. I have never owned an impact before, but have heard good things. I actually ordered this on ebay as a bare tool only. I came in brand new condition. I was anxious to try it out. I put a battery on it and started to drive some screws into some scrap. I was amazed. My drill works well with a screw guide, but this was effertless. There was absolutely no twist when I drove the screws like w...

A quality Jigsaw

A quality Jigsaw

10-13-2010 11:10 AM by DoctorDan | 10 comments »

Earlier this year I purchased a Makita 4351FCT Jigsaw from Sydney Tools. Official Stats: Length of Stroke 26mm, Max. Cutting Capacity 135mm (wood) & 10mm (steel), Angle cutting -45-45. Continuous Rating Input 720W, Strokes per Minute 800-2,800, and Weight 2.4kg. I needed a tool to make some curved cuts and also rough cuts in a safer manner than using a circular saw on a non-flat slabs. A bow-saw is romantic but I’d have to build it, and I was in a hurry. A bandsaw would be great,...

Makita, #1 in my book

Makita, #1 in my book

07-05-2009 02:10 AM by JMG | 17 comments »

I was a cutman on a framing crew for about 7 years and I have used just about every major brand circular saw out there and the only thing that comes close to a magesium Makita saw is a regular Makita saw. No, I don’t work for Makita but this saw is the absolute best. At only 10 lbs, this bas boy has a powerful 15 amp motor that cuts anything in it’s path. This saw is capable of miter cuts 90 to 56 degrees with the flip of a lever. Remember those times trying to finish a job at...

A little pricey, but worth it.

A little pricey, but worth it.

Bought this when I did the drawers for the lego table. My Ryobi drill wouldn’t fit in some of the places I needed it too. I also bought the 3/8 chuck for the drill. In my opinion, these tools preform as designed. I have driven 3 1/2” drywall screws into pine 2×4s with no pilot hole with no problem. Plenty of power. The impact driver is a bit noisy, but that is to be expected. For assebly with screws, they simply cant be beat. I find myself reaching for the drill more of...

Makita LS1016L Sliding Mitersaw

Makita LS1016L Sliding Mitersaw

04-18-2010 04:00 PM by Cato | 21 comments »

I bought this saw a few months back because I needed better accuracy than my old RAS could deliver consistently. I did a bit of research comparing models, prices, sizes, and I liked the feel and action of this saw the best, as I didn’t really want or need a 12 inch miter saw if I could get one in the 10 inch range that could cut a dimensional 4×4 if need be. After using it for crosscuts, bevels and miters over the past few months I can say that I am really happy with my p...

Makita 2703 Portable

Makita 2703 Portable

09-29-2010 06:51 PM by Hermando | 11 comments »

I just wanted to share one of the Makita portable table saws I own and give a review from what I think is a quality table saw and functional with the right setup. I have been reviewing a wide variety of table saws in the past so I could spend more time wood working and not working. This particular table saw is the Makita 2703, which I purchased from Craigslist for $40 and had the Makita service do a complete overhaul of power cord, power switch, bearings and brushes. This saw was pretty r...

Makita RP2301FC 3-1/4 HP Plunge Router (Variable Speed)

Makita RP2301FC 3-1/4 HP Plunge Router (Variable Speed)

I just got this router. So I’ll likely update info as I get more familiar. I noticed there are not many reviews for this new model from Makita so we need one on LJ. Amazon offered a really low sale price on this for Black Friday. It was $100 less than the sale price here in Canada. Being 10 minutes from Detroit, I had it shipped there and even got free shipping from Amazon. To my horror, Amazon didn’t pack it. They shipped the router in its own box – unsealed. I guess UPS took ...
