Kreg Shelf Pin Jig

Kreg Shelf Pin Jig

The Kreg Shelf Pin Jig is an excellent jig to add your woodworking collection.  I’ve done the “make your own” pegboard type of jig.  The problem is you cut it down to size and it seems like you never get it right the first time.  When you do finally get it right it still feels a little off when you’re finished.  Anyone who has the done pegboard thing will know how it can be a pain to do(and no I’m talking about those crazy smart never make a mistake woodworke...

Kreg Multi-Mark

Kreg Multi-Mark

Yeah, I know what you’re thinking and you’re partly right. Why am I reviewing a glorified ruler? Well there is a little bit more to it than that. I have a couple of combo squares that I regularly use, and one of them broke a few weeks ago. Recently, I’ve turned into a Kreg nerd and so I thought I would check out the Kreg multi-mark tool and see how it does. Needless to say Kreg does it again. This little tool is great! Really…! Let’s face it 80% of all the measures we do as casual wo...

I can't believe these are 8 bucks

I can't believe these are 8 bucks

I didn’t feel like making my own bench dogs, I also didn’t feel like paying tons of money for them. In one of my many recent trips to woodcraft, I saw these and decided to try them out The Good They work. They fit snugly in the 3/4” holes I drilled and laid flat on the bench top. They are nylon, but appear to be very strong. I clamped down on my vise way more than I needed to a few times to see if they would crack or give. They didn’t. The flat faces are just the...

Awesome pocket hole system

Awesome pocket hole system

I was trying to determine the best method for joining together my radiator covers. I didn’t have time for traditional joinery like mortise & tenon. I needed something where I could build 4 radiator covers in about two days (very fast for a newcomer like me). I was going between a biscuit joiner and pocket screws. I finally decided on pocket screws because I didn’t want to deal with the gluing and drying. I also liked the fact that I could disassemble the pieces if I made ...

Nice job but it takes time

Nice job but it takes time

I bought this product because I thought it would improve the look of the pool deck I am building and although I am not finished yet I think it has. The whole purpose of the jig is too allow the user to screw down decking without showing the screw and that’s exactly what it did. My decking is made from 5/4 pressure treated boards. There are 10 joists each spaced 16 on centers and there are 2 screws per joist which gives 20 screws per board. To boards feel as if the are held down well. I ...

Makes Drilling Pocket Holes a Walk in the Park

Makes Drilling Pocket Holes a Walk in the Park

I’m sure some may argue, but this has got to be one of the coolest little gadgets I have in my shop. I opted for the mini version 1) for the attractive price tag compared to their pricier systems, and 2) I never really thought I would use that many pocket holes in my projects. Several hundred pocket holes later, I find myself wishing I had paid the extra amount and purchased their more complete system that retails for around $99. The Kreg-Jig mini will do the same job just as good as its m...

Good jig but the whole package could use a little polish. Also can be used as a doweling jig.

I bought the Kreg Shelf Pin Jig not to drill evenly-spaced holes for shelf pins (though I do also plan to use it for that later), but rather as a jig to accurately drill holes for dowels. First I cut a shim to go between the alignment fence and the piece of wood that needed dowel holes. I clamped the shelf pin jig in place, drilled a couple holes, then moved it over and used the included alignment pin to set up the next hole to be drilled. If you want to use this as a doweling jig, you ...

Kreg's new AutoMaxx 6" Bench Klamps

Kreg's new AutoMaxx 6" Bench Klamps

If you are already a proud owner of an assembly table with some type of extruded aluminium track solution, then keep reading. I recently decided to build an assembly table and was looking for some new clamps to accompany my table. I found a product presentation on YouTube and decided to give them a try. First, they are very powerful. The first thing I had to do once I had them installed on the table using a dual purpose track (1 3/4” x 1/2”) was to turn down the clamping for...

Although I think a lot of Kregs products are exspensive they are extremely well made and they are made for the beginner in mind. I purchased this jig because I wanted to put shelf pin holes in an existing cabinet and it worked awesome, I especially like the simplicity of the jig. The Shelf Pin Jig also includes a dual-position, adjustable fence for custom hole placement, a locating pin for quick and accurate spacing reference, a jig extender that lets you connect multiple Shelf Pin Jigs...

good saw guide with small problems

good saw guide with small problems

09-10-2012 10:44 AM by americancanuck | 5 comments »

I found this to work very well with one problem. The little red pointer that is used to line up the saw blade with the scale on the beam covers up the numbers making it impossible to see. a good solution would be to make this peice out of clear plastic. Other than that I found this to be acurate and easy to use. It’s a godsend when ripping down full sheets of plywood. Storage with the saw connected is a problem so I have been removing the saw after each use. The problem with this is th...
