Kreg Multi-Mark adjustable square

My wife actually grabbed this off of the shelf at the Big Blue Box Store while I was searching for a box of pocket hole screws. The body is the blue plastic that Kreg loves so much, and the 6” rule is of decent thickness. I have been using this for the past couple days and I really do kind of like it. If it had a 12” rule instead of a 6” rule I might have given this 5 stars instead of just 4.

Yeah, I know what you’re thinking and you’re partly right. Why am I reviewing a glorified ruler? Well there is a little bit more to it than that. I have a couple of combo squares that I regularly use, and one of them broke a few weeks ago. Recently, I’ve turned into a Kreg nerd and so I thought I would check out the Kreg multi-mark tool and see how it does. Needless to say Kreg does it again. This little tool is great! Really…! Let’s face it 80% of all the measures we do as casual wo...

Nice job but it takes time

Nice job but it takes time

I bought this product because I thought it would improve the look of the pool deck I am building and although I am not finished yet I think it has. The whole purpose of the jig is too allow the user to screw down decking without showing the screw and that’s exactly what it did. My decking is made from 5/4 pressure treated boards. There are 10 joists each spaced 16 on centers and there are 2 screws per joist which gives 20 screws per board. To boards feel as if the are held down well. I ...

Makes Drilling Pocket Holes a Walk in the Park

Makes Drilling Pocket Holes a Walk in the Park

I’m sure some may argue, but this has got to be one of the coolest little gadgets I have in my shop. I opted for the mini version 1) for the attractive price tag compared to their pricier systems, and 2) I never really thought I would use that many pocket holes in my projects. Several hundred pocket holes later, I find myself wishing I had paid the extra amount and purchased their more complete system that retails for around $99. The Kreg-Jig mini will do the same job just as good as its m...

At the woodworking show in NJ a couple weeks ago I bought the show promo kit which included the large table, steel stand, fence, micro adjuster, caster, switch, two feather-boards, and a flip-stop. It totaled $593.85. It was back-ordered when they sold to me, but they actually got it to me much faster then they had hoped (which was a nice surprise). Finally had a chance to start putting it together, so wanted to post some feedback, for anyone who is interested in possibly getting one. Righ...

The Shelf Pin Jig From Kreg Tool.

The Shelf Pin Jig From Kreg Tool.

Today I will be reviewing the Shelf Pin Jig from the folks at Kreg Tool Company. The Jig retails for $34.99 at Woodcraft. I also picked up the optional 5mm drill bit it is retailing for $7.99. So whats in the box? The kit includes; the jig of course, a locating pin, the jig extender, a 1/4” drill bit and depth collar, an allen wrench for the depth collar, the instruction manual, and mine had a bag with 3-1/4” shelf pins in it. There is really not any assembly required for the jig...

Kreg Shelf Pin Jig

Kreg Shelf Pin Jig

The Kreg Shelf Pin Jig is an excellent jig to add your woodworking collection.  I’ve done the “make your own” pegboard type of jig.  The problem is you cut it down to size and it seems like you never get it right the first time.  When you do finally get it right it still feels a little off when you’re finished.  Anyone who has the done pegboard thing will know how it can be a pain to do(and no I’m talking about those crazy smart never make a mistake woodworke...

Good jig but the whole package could use a little polish. Also can be used as a doweling jig.

I bought the Kreg Shelf Pin Jig not to drill evenly-spaced holes for shelf pins (though I do also plan to use it for that later), but rather as a jig to accurately drill holes for dowels. First I cut a shim to go between the alignment fence and the piece of wood that needed dowel holes. I clamped the shelf pin jig in place, drilled a couple holes, then moved it over and used the included alignment pin to set up the next hole to be drilled. If you want to use this as a doweling jig, you ...

Great idea - does not execute well

Great idea - does not execute well

(note: In response to some of the comments…. I do realize that for some these will work quite well. I too have seen reviews of items I was very pleased with though the reviewer was not. For those of you who these work well for, I would love for you to demonstrate because I really hoped they would work. I appreciate your positive findings. I also want to be clear that I in no way am dissing Rockler. I continue to buy many things from them. My decision not to return them had nothing...

Work well, annoying to adjust

Work well, annoying to adjust

I used two of these for my cross cut sled I just made. At 5.99 each, they looked like a good value. I was unable to find many reviews on line, so I figured I would give them a shot. The goodThey can be clamped down pretty tight to hold the piece in placeThey are inexpensive (~6.00)Everything turns well on the bolt. No stripping The BadI don’t like the design. These have two locking mechanisms. There is a knurled knob at the bottom that locks the bolt to the track. After locked to ...
