Real affordable quality

Real affordable quality

This machine has me hooked on Jet tools. I had really thought high quality cost a lot more. Granted it doesn’t have some of the features of it’s PowerMatic cousin (they are made by the same company). Power: More than enough. I haven’t been able to slow it down facing 6” wide boards. Reliability: Rock solid, the only issue I have had is with dust collection. As long as you have a dust collector hooked up there is no issue, but if you try to use just the chip ...

Great 115 Volt Saw

Great 115 Volt Saw

09-01-2009 04:11 AM by Ben | 11 comments »

I finally received my supersaw after two months on backorder. It was worth the wait. Jet ran a Fathers day deal in June and I got it cheap. Assembly I spent the better part of a Saturday putting the whole machine together. Everything was packaged well and there was no damage. I would rate the manual a 7 out of 10. I did spend 20 minutes looking for one package of bolts that they had packed inside one of the fence rails with the cap on it. I finally read the manual very closely to ...

JET DC-1100VX-CK Dust Collector: Unpacking and Assembly

I may be the only person nutty enough to think this might be of interest to anyone, but if you are contemplating purchase of one of these units, this may be of interest to you. I purchased this unit from Global Industrial on Nov. 6, 2014. The price was $699.99 to which was added $35.00 for residential delivery, totaling $734.99. Unless you have a loading dock, I recommend the residential delivery service because everything is shipped shrink-wrapped on a palette. My delivery was made by Estes....

Powerful Disk Sander

Powerful Disk Sander

10-09-2009 05:57 PM by FatScratch | 9 comments »

I received this disk sander about 9 months ago. I really didn’t think it was a necessary addition to my small hobbyist shop, but it was a gift. The buyer thought it would be a necessity for my hobby and I didn’t have the heart to exchange it. It has come in handy many times since I got it. The sander was nicely packaged in a square box which was very difficult to get my hands around, coupled with the fact that this thing is very heavy. This sander weighs in at about 100lbs. It t...

Great OSS, competes favorably with much costlier floor standing models.

Great OSS, competes favorably with much costlier floor standing models.

I picked up my Jet JBOS-5 Oscillating spindle Sander used for a good price in very good condition. Other than some signs of use, it works likes new, so I believe I have a good example. Acoustics: The first thing I noticed was how quiet this machine is. OSS (good ones anyway) are some of the quietest sanding machines you can use already. (think about it, most sanders are very noisy!) This tool surprised me as it is even quieter than a very large floor standing unit I have. Power: The nex...

Very, Very nice beginner lathe

Very, Very nice beginner lathe

12-24-2008 06:00 AM by teenagewoodworker | 18 comments »

i have had my Jet mini lathe for about 5 months now and it is a solid performer. there is a lot to consider when looking at lather so this will be a pretty long review but worth it. Power Power is a big thing when looking into a lathe. this lathe is 1/2 hp which is underpowered. this lathe does do quite well though. i find that i can stall it up up usually i am good. the only times that i have been able to stall it up is when roughing out very large out of true logs. other than that it ...

BETTER THAN ANTICIPATED

BETTER THAN ANTICIPATED

I am writing my review in order to help people with their decision on a purchase of this unit. Before I begin I had some reservations about this and was unsure about making this investment, Even though it is an economical unit, 350 to 400 bucks is a lot to throw away on a piece of garbage that doesn;t work correctly Anyways I am more than pleased with this purchase. I never give 5 stars because when we write these posts we have no way of determining on how long something will last. I may writ...

"Benny" and Her JET

"Benny" and Her JET

01-05-2010 07:55 AM by mmh | 3 comments »

Well, I may need to change my name to “Benny” for this title, but this is my latest addition to the wood workshop as I dearly needed an upgrade from the Craftsman 6” x 36” belt sander which I tend to replace every 18 months (via 2 yr. service contract). The difference between the Craftsman 6” x 36” and the JET 6” x 48” models are like Night vs. Day. Same concept, but the function and quality are on opposite sides of the spectrum. For the pr...

Wow, wish I would have bought one sooner.

Wow, wish I would have bought one sooner.

I finally broke down and purchased a drum sander while Jet was having a 15% off sale. After reading the reviews here and elsewhere I decided to go with the 16-32. I had zero issues with tracking on the belt and leveling the drum was pretty straight forward. I spent about 2 hours setting it up and testing it out. I added a set of locking casters to make it mobile. I usually spend a couple of hours leveling a glue up by hand when making cutting boards. This sander has saved me around 8hrs o...
