JET 708315BTC 10" Bench top Table Saw

JET 708315BTC 10” Bench top Table SawPrice $250+ When I set off to find a budget and more importantly compact saw, I went through lots of online reviews and ratings. It surprised me that many people pay $200-$300 and expect a professional fine tuned cabinet saw jump right out of the box. Then they give poor rating without even bothering to set riving knife correctly or check blade alignment. I look at it this way: There are things that you can modify, fix or adjust (flimsy fence, ...

14 Inch Jet Bandsaw

14 Inch Jet Bandsaw

02-19-2008 04:50 AM by Dano | 30 comments »

I ordered this saw from Amazon on Monday and it was delivered on the following Friday utilizing their free shipping. I was worried that it might be damaged in route as it seems other have had similar experiences. However, it arrived in pristine condition, shrink wrapped to a wooden pallet. The saw was easy to assemble as there are only 4 pieces, the base, the saw, trunnion, and the table. Instructions are good and everything was there. The base does not have any “feet” and thus...

Disappointment with JET DC-650A 1 Horsepower Dust Collector

Disappointment with JET DC-650A 1 Horsepower Dust Collector

01-18-2010 12:47 AM by Don Newton | 20 comments »

Fellow Jocks, After 25 years of injesting sawdust, a very foolish thing to do, a few months ago I took the plunge and purchased a Jet Dust Collector and AFS-400 Air Filtration System. The Air Filtration System works as it should, but in my opinion the Dust Collector has some design flaws that make me sorry I purchased it. The dust collector is small but should be adequate for my needs. My workshop is in my basement so space is critical and portability is desirable. The Jet DC-650A seeme...

Jet AFS-1000B Air Filtration System

Jet AFS-1000B Air Filtration System

I love this thing. My workshop is a small section in the rear of my basement. Just getting started, I was getting dust everywhere as I have a contractor type table saw. I’m working on collecting that dust at the source better, but stuff still gets in the air. My entire basement was covered with dust before I had this. I’ve had it for a few months now and I can honestly say I notice a difference. The air is cycled every so many minutes and if I leave it run for a couple hours...

An Inexpensive and Space Efficient Combination Jointer/Planer

An Inexpensive and Space Efficient Combination Jointer/Planer

10-02-2009 12:28 AM by Thomas Keefe | 24 comments »

About a year ago, I took my first woodworking class (at the age of 51!). It was the first time I had actually used a jointer or a planer. Up to this point I had always purchased S2S lumber and been limited by whatever HD had to offer. After using both of these in class, I decided I needed to be able to do this at home. However, I have a very small workshop (10’ x 10’) and a limited budget. There was no way that they would both fit and no way my wife would let me buy them. So a ben...

Jet 17" Floor Standing Drill Press

Jet 17" Floor Standing Drill Press

03-07-2010 05:29 PM by Jarrhead | 7 comments »

When I started wood working, a drill press was one of my first tool acquisitions. I bought a Delta 12 inch benchtop model, that has served me well, and continues to do so. Last year when I embarked on the “21st Century Workbench” project (see my project posts), I knew that the little Delta wasn’t going to be up to the task. It doesn’t have the necessary spindle travel to get through 3 inches of lumber, which was required for drilling the dog holes. There had been a...

Jet JJP-12 Planer/Jointer combo (Planer mode)

Jet JJP-12 Planer/Jointer combo (Planer mode)

07-14-2008 04:51 AM by GaryB | 13 comments »

Here are several pics of the Jet planer/jointer combo machine in planer mode. Conversion from jointer to planer is really very easy. Loosen 2 lever locks, lift the beds ( which move in one piece with fence), swing dust shroud into planing position, then finally activate the feed rollers. The only time consuming part (20-30 seconds) is raising the bed up to desired position. The bed has to be lowered to about 6 inches for the dust port to clear, so to plane 1 inch stock, you have to raise ...

Now I really do have 10 Inches...

03-01-2010 05:56 PM by Kerry Drake | 24 comments »

Last August I purchased a Jet 10” Combination Jointer/Planer, and last weekend I finally got to give it a real workout. I had 3 pieces of 6/4 Cherry all 10’ long ranging in width from about 5” up to nearly 9”. I needed to mill them all down to the exact same thickness so I could glue them up and make one massive cherry counter top 9’ 3” long and 17” deep. Me and my Jet got to spend 5 hours of quality time with each other. The good: 1 – T...

JET JJP-12HH, 2-month review

JET JJP-12HH, 2-month review

01-21-2011 11:33 PM by mstenner | 17 comments »

After two months with the JJP-12HH, I’m ready to share what I’ve learned. The bottom line: this is a great tool and I’d recommend it for the serious amateur. I wanted a lot of capability in my small (12×15) shop and am very happy. Shipping & Unpacking This is a large and heavy tool (my wife says I’m no longer the “biggest tool in the shop”), and it comes almost fully assembled. You will need to get the crate where it’s going intact. ...

Review: JET Hybrid Table Saw JPS-10

Review: JET Hybrid Table Saw JPS-10

04-30-2012 08:36 PM by Rb12 | 16 comments »

This is my first tool review and I know it is not something new to the market, but still sold so, I figured I would throw it out there for others. Recently bought a JET Hybrid Table Saw JPS-10 . Up until now I had my dad’s hand-me-down, 30-year-old Delta/Rockwell, 1-hp Model 9 Contractor Saw. The fence was horrible, it had metal lattice work wings (finger catchers), a bearing had gone in the motor and it was loud as hell (forget the dime test, it couldn’t pass the push stick test… where ...
