Review ToolSelect.com part #3 Jet Edge Sander

Review ToolSelect.com part #3 Jet Edge Sander

530 days ago by Kjuly | 9 comments »

Part 2 concluded with links to two videos produced by ToolSelect.com. The reviews, Jet Drill Press -JDP-12 and the Jet Mortiser-JBM-5 were published shortly before I wrote part 1 & 2. The third tool review video, Jet Oscillating Edge Sander-JET 708447 OES-80CS, was not published at that time. I found three issues with the operation of the edge sander. We, ToolSelect.com and I, felt it would be fair to share my findings with Jet and give them the opportunity to respond. Jet was ...

Jet Cabinet Saw

Jet Cabinet Saw

377 days ago by Cato | 13 comments »

I bought this table saw in March and I thought I would review it here as you have to do some digging to find reviews on this saw. The only other I found on this site was by Walnutz, a few months back. I have a blog with pics on the arrival condition and assembly on the saw so I won’t go into detail on that except to say that the saw arrived in absolutely perfect condition neatly on a pallet and shrink wrapped. This is my first true cabinet saw but in my research of and looking at the ma...

I finally broke down and purchased a drum sander while Jet was having a 15% off sale. After reading the reviews here and elsewhere I decided to go with the 16-32. I had zero issues with tracking on the belt and leveling the drum was pretty straight forward. I spent about 2 hours setting it up and testing it out. I added a set of locking casters to make it mobile. I usually spend a couple of hours leveling a glue up by hand when making cutting boards. This sander has saved me around 8hrs o...

Solid bandsaw.

Solid bandsaw.

I have owned this saw for about a year. I bought it at Rockler for $800 in a deal that included the rip fence and a very good DVD. It sits on locking casters and rolls quite nicely. AssemblyThe saw comes in one piece. The only thing to assemble is the table and fence. I had to drill out one of the caster holes that was not formed properly, but that was minor. I lifted the saw by myself which I don’t really recommend (310 pounds). The story4” dust port does the job. Wired ...

Real affordable quality

Real affordable quality

1940 days ago by Rob McCune | 5 comments »

This machine has me hooked on Jet tools. I had really thought high quality cost a lot more. Granted it doesn’t have some of the features of it’s PowerMatic cousin (they are made by the same company). Power: More than enough. I haven’t been able to slow it down facing 6” wide boards. Reliability: Rock solid, the only issue I have had is with dust collection. As long as you have a dust collector hooked up there is no issue, but if you try to use just the chip ...

Super Value

Super Value

This is a long review but, I hope it will be useful to someone considering this jointer. I purchased this jointer a few weeks ago and wanted to put it through it’s paces before reviewing it. This is an excellent machine and is one of my favorite tools in my shop. I spent a few months contemplating whether or not I even needed a jointer. After reading page after page of online forums I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger. I came really close to purchasing an 8 inch jointer ...

Rock Solid Jointer!

Rock Solid Jointer!

1112 days ago by CryptKeeper | 10 comments »

I purchased this jointer this past weekend and I have already run a few feet of white oak without any problems. Pros:The manual was easy to follow and assembly was a snap. Plenty of power. Faced 6” white oak removing a 1/16 of inch no problem Reasonable foot print for small shop. I actually went to order the 8” Jet but after talking with my dealer I realized there was no way I could handle that unit by myself (unloading and assembly) and it would take up too much floor ...

Jet Jointer early christmas gift

Jet Jointer early christmas gift

My wife got me the jointer for christmas and ask is this the last machine I need for my shop. I said yes. (LOL) We all know that we never have enough. The jointer was package well and it took less than an hour to assemble, clean and set the outfeed and infeed tables. The jointer ran smooth with no excessive vibration. The motor needed no adjustment for the belt. The fence was easy to set square and has a stop to set it at 90 and keep it there. My trial cuts came out as smooth as glass. I ran ...

jet mini lathe

jet mini lathe

This was my first lathe since middle school shop class. Back then I made a lamp for my mother that made it all the way to state finals. I was excited to get this in my shop and start turning on it and after several months it has performed flawlessly!! I have added the bed extension but not used the tool since adding it. The bed is very solid and the extension was easy to install and level. This model has the spindle lock and indexing head and operates at 500 – 3900 rpm. I think it is...
