Jet AFS-1000B Air Filtration System

Jet AFS-1000B Air Filtration System

1912 days ago by Bill Hall | 8 comments »

I love this thing. My workshop is a small section in the rear of my basement. Just getting started, I was getting dust everywhere as I have a contractor type table saw. I’m working on collecting that dust at the source better, but stuff still gets in the air. My entire basement was covered with dust before I had this. I’ve had it for a few months now and I can honestly say I notice a difference. The air is cycled every so many minutes and if I leave it run for a couple hours...

For the money... not bad... but not great, either

For the money... not bad... but not great, either

So let me start by saying that this is the first major tool purchase (in excess of $150) that I have made, and while overall I’m satisfied, there are enough problems to warrant a second thought for a first table saw. If I could have given 3 1/2 stars, I would have… but I’ll settle for 4, since it’s not quite a 3 star tool. I ended up getting this on Amazon, free shipping, with a promo including an outfeed roller, and the whole package was $299. For the money, th...

What a Great Tool

What a Great Tool

The 22-44 Oscillating Sander was a Luxury on my wish list. But I have no regrets at all. It does everything it claims it will do and then some.It comes in three boxes, the base, sander head, feed table. Make sure you have some muscle on hand to assemble this monster. To save on a hernia repair it wouldn’t hurt to have a chain fall, come along to lift the sander head. Besides being very heavy due to the solid cast iron construction, it is a off balanced lift. 90% of the weight is at on e...

Jet JBM-5 Bench Mortising Machine

Jet JBM-5 Bench Mortising Machine

1248 days ago by TheDane | 8 comments »

I have been using my JBM-5 for over 3 years now, and consider it a good investment for my home workshop. I haven’t kept track of the number of mortises I have done with it, but just about everything I build uses mortise and tenon joinery. The JBM-5 fence can be a pain to set. The fence is attached to a steel hex rod that is held in place by a thumb screw. There is no rack & pinion fence adjustment (like the one on Delta’s mortiser), so getting the workpiece positioned corre...

Very capable table saw

Very capable table saw

1177 days ago by Twigger | 8 comments »

My two expert woodworking friends scoffed at any thoughts that I’d buy less than a table saw that I’d be happy with for a long long time. When I suggested this saw they both endorsed the idea. It’s been great. I will add that I’ve invested in the Forrest Woodworker II blade. The cuts are really good, and from a beginner. And I’ve done some pretty complicated work creating a maple corner cabinet with various mitered joints, dado groves and other finer feature...

Solid bandsaw.

Solid bandsaw.

I have owned this saw for about a year. I bought it at Rockler for $800 in a deal that included the rip fence and a very good DVD. It sits on locking casters and rolls quite nicely. AssemblyThe saw comes in one piece. The only thing to assemble is the table and fence. I had to drill out one of the caster holes that was not formed properly, but that was minor. I lifted the saw by myself which I don’t really recommend (310 pounds). The story4” dust port does the job. Wired ...

The best deal I ever got!

The best deal I ever got!

1894 days ago by Moshe Eshel | 7 comments »

I was looking at lathes for almost two years before I purchased this one.I previously owned (still do) a JET Mini 1014 (non VS) and was very happy for it – except for the size limit – 10” is a little too small when you want to turn a platter or a salad bowl. However, money was a little tight and I sure couldn’t afford a Oneway or Vicmarc…Anyway I was checking out lathes and even found a chinese one selling for a decent price, but I was unsure of quality, living i...

JET 708100 - Excellent value

JET 708100 - Excellent value

1831 days ago by TheDane | 7 comments »

I purchased my Jet 708100 from a local machine shop, and consider it an excellent value. Assembly was easy (once I figured out some missing info in the instructions) and the trunion, fence, and miter gauge all checked out true with no alignment or adjustment required. I installed my saw on one of Jet’s adjustable rolling bases and have found it to be quite stable. Unlike other contractor saws, the 1.5HP motor is inside the saw’s cabinet, which makes it an excellent candidate...

Jet JJP-12 Planer/Jointer combo (Jointer mode)

Jet JJP-12 Planer/Jointer combo (Jointer mode)

Here are several pictures of the Jet JJP-12 jointer/planer combo machine in Jointer mode. I picked up the crated machine with a small flatbed trailer. 3 of us (myself, my 14 year old neighbor, and my 115 lb wife) were able to slide it off of the trailer, then off the palate and onto the mobile base easily, despite the machine weighing over 500 Lbs. It came almost fully assembled in the crate. Only had to install the portion of the guard over the blades, a plug on the end of the cord, and ...

Jet Wood lathe

Jet Wood lathe

1430 days ago by RICH GRABLE | 7 comments »

Hi again friends, I have had 2 Performax mini wood lathes. Both of them had some good features, price, variable speed, gaurantee etc. I purchesd the original one from Menard’s in North Platte Ne. I burned out the motor on the first one. They sent another complete lathe, and a few weeks later, I was going to use it and it wouldn’t turn on. They again gave me a new one. Fantastic business to do business with! While I was in need of a lathe, I purched a new JET JWL-1220VS...
